Kenyon :"Nets are my first preference." <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">March 3, 2004 -- Last night was another game in another town against another team. Only this was the team that longs to bring Kenyon Martin to this town as a free agent. "I'm still a Net right now, but it's flattering. It's good someone else wants me, but I'm still a Net," said Martin, the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Month who will be a no-secret object of the Nuggets' affection this summer as a restricted free agent. He showed why with a 22-point effort in the Nets' 95-91 triumph last night. "I didn't come here thinking, 'Well, maybe I could live here next year.' I've been here before. It's not the first time." Martin, refused a maximum extension last summer, indicated New Jersey would be his first preference. "Why wouldn't it be? That's where I am. That's where I've been for four years. That's where my family's accustomed to being," Martin said.</div> Link
That's my boy. This team made him an all-star. He has the greatest PG in the game right now who makes his job easier. He helped the Nets grow to where it is right now. I'm sure he wants to reap the benefits of the Nets' success.
kmart would be a moron to leave jersey...hes always gonna play better then he is with kidd on the floor.
Exactly. One thing Richard Jefferson and Kenyon Martin have to understand when it comes to free agency is that they're playing with the BEST point guard in the league. A big part of their success is the points they get from Jason Kidd leading the fastbreak or Jason Kidd making remarkable passes in the half court. Either of those two guys go else where they're points per game will suffer, simple as that.
I agree with all of you guys.K-Mart knows that he is playing with one of the best point guard in the history of the NBA.He knows that Kidd will feed him the ball when he needs it.I hope he stays with the Nets for the rest of his career. He should be loyal to the team that made him what he is right now.I also think that Kenyon wouldn't be as good as he is right now if he wasn't playing with Jason. He makes everybody around him better.
Kenyon would've been good on his own, he's so talented. Regardless of this though he needs an attitude adjustment. However he wouldn't be as productive as he is now. However he was probably just testing the pressure, he is worth plenty of the Nets Salary Funds, he showed it when he helped the team during Kidd's absence. Despise his attitude, it's not surprising he wants to stay, he has the aid of two good players and an overly good and consistent roster as a well as "now", a very good coach at his side.
I think Kenyon is good for any team in the L. If I were a GM for a team, I'd definitely sign him if I had cap space. He looks and plays somewhat like a thug and it's annoying but it's good for him individually and his team because it fires them up. As opponents, you just gotta block it out. IMO, Carmelo would love to have someone like him... he fires people up, he expects a lot from his teammates (just like Ron-Ron) and that's bound to push them to do more. Although Jason is the show, he is the engine that energizes the whole system. Sign him up already, Denver!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PupMelo:</div><div class="quote_post">Sign him up already, Denver!</div> Playing in Denver will also create opportunities for him. Melo will clear up some space for him when Melo's playing the perimeter. Guys like Nene will clear up the lane. But there's nothing better than the feeling of making impact plays for the team that you helped build. What more could you ask for if you have Kidd running the team? Well aside from a dominant center that is. hehehe.
K-mart's not going anywhere. His best opportunity to win right now is in New Jersey. And I think he knows that. Of course k-mart wants to get paid.but I think after making it to the big show 2 years in a row & coming up empty makes him a little more hungrier to get back to the finals. And his best opportunity to do that would be in the east with the Nets. K-mart is going to look at all his options & make Rob Thorn sweat a bit. And then he is going to decide to come back & play with Kidd & RJ.
Yeah, K-Mart would be stupid to leave NJ. He thrives off J.Kidd and I believe that a huge deal of his success should be credited to J. Kidd. Kidd, Martin and Jefferson could be a triple threat for years to come. I just hope Kenyon doesnt take the money before considering future success, altho I think the Nets will end up paying him nicely...
