Has great size and athleticism but his skills must improve. He has good hands. And nice shot blocking ability. His passing ability is good for a center. He's not afraid of contact and fights under the basket, bangs his skinny frame into the bigger bodies. What stands out about him is his court awareness which is much better than most players his age. If he can fill into his body and become more composed he has potential. http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/martynasandriuskevicius.asp I've been following NBADraft.net for the whole season, and this is the first time I've heard this rather long name show up. Does anyone know anything about him, he's a 7"2' Center who wieghs 240 and was born in 1986. Or does anyone know how to pronounce his name?
He had been in the 2005 Mock for awhile. And no I do not know how to pronounce his name. I heard his nickname is "vicious".
Another European big man, shoulda guessed. All these Euro guys can shoot and their big but their hardly ever good at post. Dont know how to pronounce his name.

It's prudent to remain skeptical all European big men until they have been worked out at the American draft camps.
I have never heard of this guy. I'll have to look into him though. But, yea, another foreign big man coming into the draft. Foreigners are eventually going to control the draft with the amount that continue to come in. Them and high school players.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RiverspoonJones:</div><div class="quote_post">It's prudent to remain skeptical all European big men until they have been worked out at the American draft camps.</div> Andriuskevicius is Lithuanian. This country produces great centers like no other in Europe. Don't expect Andriuskevicius to play like the typical European stiff. (BTW: His teammate and mentor is Arvydas Sabonis, arguably the greatest European baller ever)
This guy has a 3pt range. He might be like Dirk and he doesn't have any post moves yet.He also needs to add more muscles. But it sounds like he is very athletic and quick for his size.He has potential in the NBA.There are more and more foreigners now in the draft. It wasn't like this back in the past.
The reason for all the buzz surrounding Andriuskevicius right now is because of the drastic strides he has made from last year. Most importantly he has added a significant amount of muscle from a year ago and at only 18 years old, he will almost certainly keep improving. From a basketball standpoint he would be best off waiting another year or two years before coming to our side of the pond. From a financial standpoint however, he should probably come out this year. Scouts have only seen him play enough to see the tremendous upside. Plus he's a european center that can score with his back to the basket and actually enjoys doing it. Having Sabonis' endorsement doesn't hurt either. If he works out well, and he should, he could easily be a top ten pick this year. If workouts don't go so well, he could suffer a Lampeesque drop in stock. Reports that he needs to add more muscle are largely overratted. At 7-2 and 250 pounds his body is more ready for the NBA than most 7 footers. It puts him on par with Jamaal Magloire and only 10-20 pounds shy of his ideal playing weight (the Vlade Divac/Eric Dampier/Brad Miller range). A kid his age who starts an NBA workout regimen and diet should be able to do that looong before November 1st if he starts over the summer.
If this kid is really as good as they say, I hope he comes over here. 7'2" with range? that is crazy... from that picture on the webpage i would say he needs at least 20 pounds to be able to keep from gettin pushed around.. but he is only 18 so he has many years to develop, physically and mentally. A USA vs. THE WORLD all star game might not be too far off
"7'2" with range? that is crazy..." Remember Arvydas Sabonis? ;-) Would be scary if he also had Sabonis' strength and passing skills.
i still prefer podkolzine... 7'5 303..... hows that for a european 18 year old.... yet he needs to improve just a bit more and he'll be in the draft in a few year, if not this year... http://nbadraft.net/profiles/pavelpodkolzine.asp
The problem is, Podkolzine's skills are close to zero. He's like Sagana Diop, great athleticism but no skills at all.

I don't see why Pavel is so good. His season high in the Italian league was 9!And it was against one of the worst team in their league.Even if he is 7'5,it doesn't matter. He has no offensive skills.
