<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DURHAM, NC (AP)--Duke is trying to shake off a late-season slump before the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. North Carolina has been playing some of its best basketball down the stretch.

None of that will matter Saturday night when the bitter intrastate rivals square off in one of the few college basketball rivalries that needs no further introduction than the mere mention of the two schools.

The third-ranked Blue Devils (24-4, 12-3) were riding an 18-game winning streak and were the top-ranked team in the nation before splitting their last six games, including Wednesday's deflating 76-68 loss to No. 18 Georgia Tech.

After battling their way through a midseason slump, the 14th-ranked Tar Heels (18-8, 8-7) have won four of five, and are coming off Tuesday's 69-53 rout of Clemson.

Regardless, both teams know that all momentum and recent trends will come to a screeching half when this rivalry renews itself at Cameron Indoor Stadium. </div>

In his final game at Cameron Indoors, I expect Duhon to come up big...I see this game going down to the wire (as usual) with Duke prevailing 73-71, with Mccants missing a game winner....

I can't wait for the games today!!! Duke/UNC always a classic plus my Huskies play Stanford on national television...great day for college hoops. I'm more of a North Carolina fan than a Duke fan but I don't see the Heels topping the Devils at home. 84-82 Duke.

    16 UNC @ 3 Duke 8:00

One of the best sports rivalies ever.

    Previous games:
    Duke 83/UNC 81 in OT

Duke has won the last 13 of 15 meetings. Duke will also have the home court advantage in this game. Duke will also be playing with some furry since there 41 game home winning streak was just broken.

UNC has lost 12 of their last 14 ACC road games which is not a good sign for them. They are going to need a huge game to upset the Duke Blue Devils on there home court.

    For Duke to win:
Duke has the advantage, they just need to play well and move the ball.
They need to stop McCants on the offensive end, and Mays on the defencive end, who in their last meeting pulled down an amazing 21 rebounds.

    For UNC to win:
They need to move the ball better, and get everone scoring early. If they don't come out strong it will be very tough for them to come back.
They need to gaurd Reddick around the perimiter.

Like always this should be a very exciting game that goes right down to the buzzer, but I don't think UNC can win this one.

I say Duke wins by 3 in regulation.

Well, being a UNC fan, I'm rooting for an upset. But this will be a difficult game for North Carolina, and it should be fun to watch. These games are always close, but I'm going to be biased and say North Carolina wins by 2.

I think Mccants has a huge game here, and Mays has a good game, I think UNC upsets Duke here winning 76-75.

    Duke beats UNC 70-65....

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- Luol Deng ended his slump and Duke's home skid at one game.

The freshman forward bounced back from his worst outing of the season with 25 points in the third-ranked Blue Devils' 70-65 victory over No. 14 North Carolina on Saturday night.

"He's a freshman. People keep forgetting that," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "The same freshman who was 1-for-14 on Wednesday gave one of the great performances in a Duke-Carolina game. He was sensational. To go 12-for-16 and respond after that type of game the way he did was phenomenal. That sets him apart."

The game was another great one in what many consider the best rivalry in college basketball.

"These kids lived up to the hype of what a Duke-Carolina game should be," Krzyzewski said.

Ouch, if the Tarheels lose in the ACC Tournament they could get a pretty low seed in the tourny. I bet Duke, Wake Forest, N.C. State, and Georgia Tech all get higher seeds.

This was a very good game. Didn't lke the outcome all that much cause I am not a Duke fan. I think my heart just slightly jumped to my throat after McCants lost the ball with 4 seconds left cause I knew it was all but over, especially considering Redick came up with the ball. But, nonetheless, it was a great game to watch and was highly enjoyable even though Duke won.

I don't think there is anything better than sports then a Duke/North Carolina mens basketball game. It doesn't matter if one team is ranked #1 and the other is #250 you can always count on the games being close and coming down to the end.

Being a Duke fan, I was totally thrilled that they won the game. Loul Deng came back from his pitful performance against Georgia Tech to play his best game last night.

Duke now goes into the ACC Tourney as a #1 seed and they should be ranked as a #1 seed going into the NCAA Tournament.

I love the rivalry that is Duke/UNC. If both teams play well in the ACC Tournament, you can potentially see this match up again in the Semifinals of the ACC Tourney.

Just to rub it in to the UNC fans, Duke has won 11 of the 13 games played since 2000.

What a sweet game. Luol Deng tore it up out there, and Reddick's free throw shooting is unbelievable, You have to love the heart of Raymond Felton...played with a bruised hip the whole second half.

That's an interesting stat, but there are other stats that favor North Carolina. For example, ever since coach K has arrived at Duke, North Carolina has won the majority of the meetings. I think they lead Duke 32-31, but I'm not sure. It's definitely close.

It depends on where you live and which sport and teams you like better. I personally believe that the Michigan/Ohio State football rivalry is better than any other sports rivalry, but that's largely in part because I'm from Michigan. People who are Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Devils, or Tarheels fans will all think their rivalry is greater than the next one. To each his own.

Im not the biggest baseball fan so the Yankees/Redsocks really don't get me pumped up.

For me there are two rivalries that stand out to me.

OU/Texas in football and Duke/UNC in basketball.

We had Chris Simms. How did you expect us to win with him as our quarterback?

We will win this year though. :P

OU/Texas is a good rivalry, but neither team is as good as Michigan/Ohio State. [IMG]
