Everyone keeps saying that the Clippers have a ton of potential?Yet every season, they appear to go nowhere?When they seemingly take one step forward, they always end up taking one step back and wind up where they started?Obviously, much of this is due to Sterling?s unwillingness to retain players? however, the Clippers have now locked up their core nucleus (Brand an Maggette) for the long term?They?ll also have Kaman for at least 3 more years ?So again, they seem to be moving towards the right direction? Presumably, they?ll have a late lottery pick (8-14) this year and a ton of cap space for potential free-agents (which is unlikely to be utilized based on history)? So where do you see the Clippers in 2-3 years??.how many years are they away from another playoff appearence...?
I think if they get the right FA, I think they COULD get in next year, they were close to this year, until they started losing some, I believe they will make a strong run at Kobe, let Q-Rich go, get a nice draft pick, sign some other key FAs, build around Kobe, Maggette, and Brand.
The Clippers just aren't winning games within their conference... Their record versus the East is 14-13 Their record versus the West is 12-23 I believe the Clippers are reaching a crossroads this off-season...They might just be 1 star-player or 2 role-players away from making a playoff bid...If they are going to make something happen, this off-season is the time...The puzzle is almost complete...It is going to be very important that they make the right draft picks and sign the right players THIS YEAR, or else they're going to screw themselves once again...and that's something they can't afford because by the time they totally undo their mistakes, they would have wasted 2-3 good years by Brand and Maggette...
