This guy reminds me of Bruce Bowen with a midrange jumper (and w/o dirty tactics). I think that he will be the key to Minnesota's trip to the finals. He can lock down the best offensive players in the NBA.
^Very true. Trenton Hassell has one of the better midrange jumpers in the league, and an all around good player. Though he isn't a MVP he is a big part of the team sucsess, and that says a lot for any player.
Trenton is one of my favorite players in the league because he doesn't have a big ego. He knows his role on the team, and he plays it. And he doesn't take shots away from the big three, even though he can. But sometimes he dishes it out when he should be shooting. But he makes up for all those missed opportunities with his staggering defense. And he doesn't play that cheep kind of defense like Bowen does, he plays clean, straight up defense. He hussells all the time, and he was a great pickup and a great bargain. I really, really hope we resign him after this season.
Trenton Hassell has done an excellent job on every superstar the t-wolves has asked him to contain. He has had defensive success against Kobe, Peja, VC, Pual Pierce 2 times, & the list goes on. I agree with the 1st poster if the t-wolves get to the finals his D is going to be a major key. The timberwolves are going to have to beat the kings or the lakers(or maybe both) to get to the finals, so having a guy like trenton to throw on a Kobe or Peja is going to be a major advantage for the t-wolves.
Trenton is a great defender. He knows his role and doesn't have a big ego.He has done amazing things for the team.He is a big part of our sucess and if we can we should resign him for more seasons. And when playoffs comes,he will be much needed defending superstars like Peja.He plays with effort and has been playing great for the team all season.I like the guy alot.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Yugoslavia:</div><div class="quote_post">Right now, Allen is schooling him as we speak. </div> How did I know somebody was going to say that. The Refs changed the way Hassell could D up Ray right from the start of the game when they called that tic-tac foul. And they called alot of tic-tac fouls on Trenton all night to help loosen up Ray. I think Trenton felt the effects of all the complaining Ray was doing about players like Bowen guarding him so psyhically. And thats not to take nothing away from Ray, he made all-star moves all night. But I think the way the Refs called the matchup kinda changed the way Tenton could D him. But hey everybody knows that 9 out 10 nights, a great offense player is going to get his against a great Defensive player.
^ To be fair he probably did get a little bit of help from the refs, but I'm not gonna knock Hassell as there isn't a ghuy in the league who would have stopped Ray tonight, he was just in a groove, so to speak. Trent's done a super job with the Wolves, and I am still amazed that Chicago let him go. From memory he made a name there as an efficient defensive stopper too. Still, that's the franchise that gave away Artest and Brad Miller.

Besides, the T'Wolves won, you shouldn't complain .

Eddie Robinson, Jalen Rose(at the time), Scottie Pippen, Jamal Crawford. So they had to let him & Freddy Hoiberg go. But your right big mistake on their part, nice last minute offseason pickup by the wolves. And Yugo, the only reason why I made comment was cause this was a thread showing trenton love, your statement wasnt really needed in this thread. T-wolvefan & Supersonic put together a very nice game/preview thread, you should have drop your comment there. This thread is only for positive vibes/respect toward trenton.
There was a poll in the NBA.com site that asked if Wally Szlflsjkfdldsjsd should be inserted back into the starting lineup. Who do they take off for Wally? Sprewell? Hassell? There is no way this guy is ever going to be in the starting rotation if Spree and Hassell are still there. I can see him getting traded in the off-season if he complains about PT.

He will get his PT, as well as Spree and Hassell. At the moment it's just a great team and I can't see why anyone want to get traded away from this team. On the other hand I don't understand why 55% out of over 120k prefer to bench Hassell. I like both players but at the moment Hassell's D is more needed than Wally's Points. But coming from the bench means for Wally that he properly is not playing along KG and I don't know how good Wally is without KG on the floor.
Sorry but my hands get tired trying to write out his name He won't get traded if he doesn't complain but he is known to oopen his mouth every now and then so I wouldn't be surprised. As for the nba.com poll it just shows how many uneducated people watch basketball. They look at Hassells name and automatically go with the more popular/known player in Wally Sz............. Defence wins games and if the Timberwolves have any chance of going to the championship its going to be with Hassell in the lineup (and KG, Spree and Sam)

I've seen Bowen go up to get a hand in a player's face, then move his foot underneath the jumpshooter. That's filthy & it doesn't take talent to do that. Quite frankly, Trenton's done a far better defensive job this season than anyone I've seen recently & he's done it cleanly & with impeccable fundamentals. Bowen in his best days can't do what Trenton does nightly. When's the last time Bowen held Peja to 17 ppg for the season? When's the last time that he held Kobe to 17 ppg for a season? When's the last time he even tried defending Irk of Allas, much less holding him to 22 ppg? What I was was available was a stat that showed an opponent's shooting pct. against Trenton. I'll bet Kobe, Peja, AI, TMac, etc., percentage would be under 40% this season. In fact, I'd bet it'd be closer to 35% than to 40%. That's the defenition of a lockdown defender.
This guy was such an incredible asset. He does so much more than what he was expected to do. He and Trent are two of my favorite underdogs in the league, his defense and Trent's power is just unbelievable when in conjunction with the Wolves awesome balanced play. He probably won't go in the history books but like a player such as Malik Rose or Madsen, he has so much hustle that it has to be accredited before. Talent.
Truthfully I am not hating on Wally or anything but I am glad Trenton starts ahead of him. I think he is a better player because he does more then one aspect in the game. So if it came down to it Trenton is a better player then Wally in my book anyday.
