I really have been hoping that Hovan breaks out of the funk he's been in for the past year and a half, and I think he finally started to do so. He only was credited with a 1/2 sack in today's game, but he actually made a huge difference in the 4th quarter. The 1/2 sack he got was on a 3rd down play in OT, which was huge. Really, I thought he should have been credited with the full sack on that play.

Anyhow, I will be the first to say that he should be let go or traded at the end of the year if he continues to dissappoint. But, if today's game is any indication of what he'll be doing the rest of the year, then just maybe we'll have that defensive line that we were hoping to have all along.

Yeah, that should have been a full sack. I agree that he looked better, but to be a pessimist, Carr kinda just ran into him on that play because of the guy pressuring him from the right. I'd almost give the sack to that guy... wish I knew who it was. Good performance though from the front 4 overall in the 4th quarter & OT. Game never should have gotten to OT, but that's a whole other topic [IMG]

The coaching staff has been talking about that all week, though. They want to bring enough pressure from the outside, while cutting off running lanes to force the QB to step up in the pocket. Once he does, he should have Hovan or Williams waiting for him.

Yesterday's game was a classic Minnesota road game moment. Even though you have the game well under control, you lose confidence in the 4th quarter.

I just hope that we learned something from yesterdays game.

No they haven't, have they. :noworry:

I have seen improvements in the past few games, though. The D-line looked better yesterday. Shaw looked pretty good, and our linebackers looked good.

    Oh yeah, I almost forgot.

I guess that one difference is that normally we actually lose the game... maybe we are getting better.

He sure had a great game. So did all the MN receivers. I was hating Marcus though after he dropped that pas... ugh! Glad he made up for it [IMG]

All I could think of is "this looks a lot like the Gophers game"...man am I glad we pulled that one out. I really don't like our chances in N.O. this week. I just have a bad feeling about it.

During last years playoffs, I saw a mock version of what someone thought the 2005 Madden cover was going to look like. It was the picture of Hovan squating in disgust after the Cardinals beat them in the last game of the season.

Considering the Madden jinx that has developed, I wondered at the time if Hovan would be affected even though it was a mock cover. Maybe between he and Ray Lewis, they can break the jinx.

You know, a year ago I would have gone crazy at that statement, but I'm tending to agree with you. I'm hoping he wakes up and plays up to his old level, but I don't know if he's got the talent.

Sometimes, though, a player just works himself into a major slump and needs to be shocked out of it. Come to think about it, maybe that's why McNabb has been a sub-par QB the past few years. [IMG]

(Sorry Eagles fans, I thought I would just throw that in there for fun)
