Wow. The Musketeers took these guys outside and didn't just beat them, they freakin' curbstomped the Hawks winning by 20 and they were up by more at one point. I didn't see much of this game as I was watching my beloved Buckeyes throw another game away but from what little I saw it looked like St. Joe's was getting run out of the gym. Nothing was happening for them and everyone can see now they're not as good as most think. So long #1 seed.
at one point they were down by 37 i believe.. one of my teachers had the score online and when i heard it was 74-40 with 7 mins left, i was shocked they need big men. plain and simple.
I have thought that Saint Joseph's has always been an overated team. I mean they have beaten only two teams even worth mentioning and that is Providence and Gonzaga. They were ranked #1 only because you have to give them the benefit of the doubt since they haven't lost any games. I am glad to see Xavier stomp them. I would be highly suprised if Saint Joseph's makes it past the Sweet 16 and if they make it past the Elite 8 I am sold that it is an act of god.

Honestly, I think the people that are the maddest by this loss is the NCAA tournment selection committee. I think they had plans on making ST.Joe's the #1 in the weakest part of the bracket, so people would want to follow them to see if they can go the whole tournament/year undefeated. The NCAA was going to use the ST.Joe's story to boost ratings even more, but now the way they loss to a bubble team like Xavier, the viewing public & casual college basketball fan doesnt care about ST. Joe's. So I dont think the tournament will get the ratings it would have gotten if ST.Joe's was undefeated. But they are still going to get alot of ratings.
Xavier have been playing great basketball heading into the tourney, won 12 out of their last 14 I believe. They jumped on St Joe's from the get go, however I was surprised to hear about it when they showed highlights during the Pittsburgh game. St Joe's just don't have the big men inside to go that far, they are so weak on the glass It doesn't give them much chance when they face the big time frontlines.
Ouch, that will not be good for them. Though, I still think that they get a #1 seed due to the fact that they were great all year for the most part.
It also helped that the Musketeers were playing out of their minds. I think I saw that they ended up shooting around 70% for the game. It doesn't matter who you're playing, if you can shoot that well you're gonna win the game.
I think duke deserves number 1.. stanford's strength of schedule is 106.. st joe's is somewhere in the 30's.. so that must mean saint joe's schedule is tougher than stanfords, although it doesnt seem that way
st. joes is a joke. early tournament knock outs, that's for sure. i can't wait to see how far they drop in the polls.
a #1 seed better be out of the question. one mediocre team after another. there are a lot more teams that are deserving of a one spot than st. joes. they didn't even show up for the xavier game. they got blown the fcuk out. embarassed. however you want to put it.

The only team they have beat that are quality teams are Gonzaga and Providence. Every other team they have faced has been pretty bad. That one loss absolutely killed their hopes of getting a #1 seed. There are a lot more teams right now that I feel have a much better claim to a #1 seed than Saint Josephs. Here are some of the teams that come to my mind off of the top of my head are Stanford, Duke, Conneticut, OSU, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, and Kentucky. Saint Josephs has no inside presence and the entire world was shown that by Xavier who absolutely manhandled them.
St. Joseph's is not that bad. They lost bad this game, but look at the rest of the season. No, they don't have an inside presence, but up until this point, they were 27-0. Maybe they're not as good as their record indicates, but it seems like they're better than people have been giving them credit for. Stanford lost once also, and St. Joeseph probably has a tougher conference.
the a-10 is not stronger than the pac 10, imo. hasn't been, and isn't now. st joes isn't going anywhere. i don't even know what the seedings are or who has been placed where yet. i'll have them no further than the sweet 16.

They probably wont get tested until the sweet 16, where I have a feeling they are going to play Wake Forest.
haha. you are absolutely correct.. they did get a one seed.. somehow.. more because of how other teams played their conference tourney games then they.. but they are in the east, and have a weak bracket up top!! come on! if they do wind up vs. wake.. i'll have them going down vs. wake, easy. i have to go fill out my yahoo bracket now.
