Tracy McGrady's 62 points on Wednesday against Washington made him the 35th player in NBA history 62 or more points in an NBA game. Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlin scored 62 or more points in a game 22 times, the most by any player. Orlando Sentinel
Kobe and T-Mac are the only ones capable of even coming close to 80.. Or even scoring 70 now a days..
McGrady can do it, as shown, and he can/will probably do it again. He was only the 11th player in history to drop 62 as well. Just imagine what he would have had, given the free throws went down. Since he was just the 11th player to score 62, it's unlikely to happen again this season. On a hot night, Michael Redd, Kobe, Pierce, etc. could possibly score 62+. With the exception of Kobe, the others must carry the offensive load for their team. The players in those situations are the ones most likely to score over 62.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ecsteveo32:</div><div class="quote_post">no one will ever get above 70 again [...] not kg,</div>Of course not, do you know what his career high in points is? 40. That's right, "only" 40. You know why? Because KG is not about individual glory. Of course I have got tremendous respect for guys who come out with the mindset of wanting to score every time they touch the ball: T-Mac's performance was brilliant, as was Kobe's a couple of years ago against Memphis (when he scored 56 in 3 quarters). Garnett will never play that way, IMO, although he certainly could.
Bad back? Jeez. If this is what a bad back can give you come on give it to me! If he'll do this more than he opens his mouth, people will actually acknowledge his talent more. But then again, he's doing this in a season where they're hoping to get the number 1 pick.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting twofive:</div><div class="quote_post">Michael Redd? I don't think he could get 50 on a good night and Kobe could get 70</div> Michael Redd has had two 40 point games. He's set an NBA record for three point field goals made in a period with 8. He's only 25, carries the offensive load for the Bucks, and can nail any shot from the court. Dont count him out. You make it sound so easy for Kobe to drop 70. It would be very unlikely for him to score 70 if Shaq, Payton, and Malone are also in the lineup. IF he's playing while the others are out, it's possible. But keep in mind, defense has been a key in many ballgames. Some teams are lucky to even score 70, let alone a single player. A player on their way to 60+ would most likely get double/triple teamed before the end of the night. That would reduce their shot selection/points scored. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting :</div><div class="quote_post">If he'll do this more than he opens his mouth, people will actually acknowledge his talent more. First off, Congratulations to T-Mac <div class="quote_poster">Quoting ecsteveo32:</div><div class="quote_post"> only tmac will repeat history . </div> -.- Stop with the biased opinions. MAke some educated responses. There is a reason why there will be much less players scoring this number. Changed system. more Talent(defensive, and offensive) and finally, sharing. Its a team game. Without a team even if youre best player scores 30+ day-in-out, it won't matter. Just like the KG Thing some1 stated aobve. Although I wouldn't go so far as saying T-Mac is always about individual glory. I mean he said himself, that he couldn't be happy because of the way his team has been performing all season. As for who can do it. There are many talented players who can. WIll any of them every see the light of the tunnel to 62+ points? Nope.
I think Kobe could get 60+ Pts with a team of his own. KG could do that aswell , I don't see KG doing that , but maybe Kobe wants to do that , he gets the opportunity to try it at the end of the season. I think Pierce and Iverson could get 60+ , I saw a game where AI had 56 Pts... I'll count out Redd. He is the Buck's greater scorer at the time , but a lot of his teammates will always get around 10 - 20 pts a game , which will make it very difficult for him to get 60+ not to mention KVH in the team.
AI could have been up there he was just two points away from reaching the 60 point mark. But as for T-Mac Im pretty confident that he will hit 70 one day. The Magic's season is basically over, so this would be a perfect time to see if he can do it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ecsteveo32:</div><div class="quote_post">u know some of u guys are rite. some players such as KG and Kobe are capable of getting maybe around 60's. but they just don't have the ENERGY. </div> It's not because KG doesn't have the energy. It's because he is unselfish and likes to pass the ball alot and get everyone involved in the game.He doesn't like to shot the ball so many times and he wants everyone to play well.He belives in his team.He could get 60+ points if he wanted too. Kobe doesn't get 60 because he had Shaq on the team.He also had to get the ball. They both shared it so Kobe didn't get alot of chances to shot the ball so many times. And now with the Mailman and the Glove on the team, they will all share the ball.
70, MJ never even got 70. T-Mac could though, if he wasn't nervous he could've got it in that game. Anyways, congrads to Sleepy Eyes/T-Mac.
