Gabriel Fired!!!!! Pat Clarke reported it. I don't have a link yet, but I'll try to find one. Weisbrod is the interim until we can find someone to fill in for him! Can this be nearing the end of JD's head coaching spot?

I hope so.
RealGM is reporting it on its WireTap(the latest news on the top) and I heard about it from a reliable source. So as of now I think it's true. I'm hoping at least, even though I would rather of had JD gone 1st before Gabe.(I'd like both gone, though)
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting OrlandoSentinel:</div><div class="quote_post"> Magic media relations director Joel Glass said he had not been informed to prepare for any announcement regarding Gabriel. </div> This doesn't sound like Gabe gets fired but I hope he gets and that we also get another head coach. But I don't like the idea of MJ. I think he is not the right person for a young team like ours. But I don't have any clue who could be our new GM.
Well , no official link in OrlandoMagic.com yet... but if it's true God .. we thank you and Okafor here we come! EDIT:Here is a link I found in Magic's site. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Orlando Magic President Bob Vander Weide announced today that COO John Weisbrod has been named the team’s General Manager. Weisbrod will oversee all aspects of basketball operations, including player acquisitions via the draft, free agency and trades, player development, scouting, salary cap management, contract negotiations, and staff personnel decisions. Added Weisbrod, “This has been a difficult process. I consider John Gabriel a true friend. I do look eagerly forward to my new responsibility, and very much plan on making this team win again.” </div> More..
Gabriel out, Weisbrod in as Magic GM <div class="quote_poster">Quoting :</div><div class="quote_post">Orlando Magic President Bob Vander Weide announced today that John Weisbrod has been named the team's general manager, replacing longtime GM John Gabriel. Weisbrod will oversee all aspects of basketball operations, including: player acquisitions via the draft, free agency and trades, player development, scouting, salary cap management, contract negotiations and staff personnel decisions, the Magic said in a statement. Gabriel, who has been with the Magic since its inception and been the team's GM since 1996, will serve as a team advisor and regional scout.</div> Orlando Sentinel And OrlandoMagic.com http://www.nba.com/magic/news/Weisbrod_Nam...-102721-66.html It's all official, thank god.
Hopefully JD will be next. I would rather of had JD fired before Gabriel, but as long as both are gone, I'll be happy.
Gabriel took a lot of risks for Orlando that didn't pay off. He swung for the fences and came up short, you can't really fault him for trying. I don't think you should get rid of a person like that in any organization because they will help in one way or another. As a GM he made way too many wrong choices to be kept in that position

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ice Breaker:</div><div class="quote_post">Weisbrod will oversee all aspects of basketball operations, including: player acquisitions via the draft, free agency and trades, player development, scouting, salary cap management, contract negotiations and staff personnel decisions, the Magic said in a statement.</div> You summed up all of Orlando's problems that Weisbrod will have to address immediately. Player Acquistions via Draft: Bogans and Hunter show SOME potential, but other than that their draft picks have been lackluster at best. Free Agency and Trades:They signed Juwan Howard via free agency, now it's time to trade Mr.Howard. Player Development: Drew Gooden can't develop on the bench, Steven Hunter needs more minutes! Scouting: Basically find some new ones, they've had solid selections in past drafts and haven't really came through that big lately. Salary Cap Management: Grant Hill needs to be dealt with. Either have Hill healthy and contributing, try and and negotiate Hill's retirement, or remain handcuffed financially. Contract Negotiations: RESIGN TRACY MCGRADY! Staff Personnel Decisions: Head Coach and Scouts! There's alot on Weisbrod's plate, changes need to be made on and off the court. Lets see what he can do...
I'm not very happy with that. It sounds to me that Weisbrod will stay as GM and that we don't get a new one but I really think we need a change in the organization. Hopefully at least we will get a new Head Coach, but I'm not quite sure about that now that Weisbrod is GM, wasn't it he who said that JD stays longer or was it Gabe?
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1757640 They are saying Gabe is the root of the Grant Hill problem.. Basically, he signed him to the huge contract.. Interim GM? So Weisbrod is just in there till we find a true replacement? Or do you think hes going to handle the Draft? BTW Gabe was not fired.. but he was just demotted it Advisor..
So Gabe just got put down a step in position. This is good. Now we can actually have some good picks instead of busts
I'm not so sure if this is a good move if Weisbrod isn't just an interim. It sounds like he's the new GM. We need to find a new GM. Weisbrod knows little about basketball, so how is that going to help us. He's a hockey guy.
