<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Golden State Warriors rookie forward Mickael Pietrus said he is desperate to quit, blasting teammates for what he considers a lack of team ethic. Pietrus revealed the depth of his disenchantment in an interview with the French sports newspaper L'Equipe.

"It would not displease me to get out of here," the Frenchman said. "The guys on my team have not understood that basketball is a team sport."

Pietrus, who plays less than nine minutes per game, said he defends "like a dog," only to see teammates "chewing the kebabs" he has prepared for them.

"I am at my wit's end on defense and they are shooting for baskets as if nothing had happened, as if it is not important to get back in the game," he added. "It annoys me. I've got to get out of this place."

Pietrus, 22, did not say where he sees his career going. "My career does not stop at 82 games with the Warriors."

Crap. Horrible to see that the only guy committed to D is fed up with the others. Wonder who he's referring to. Certainly not Cliffy or Damp (he never gets the ball now). Maybe JRich or Dunleavy (but Dunleavy is hesitant to shoot).

Not a good sign. It is also a horrible move by Pietrus to voice his thoughts in this manner. He is not an American though so I can't really blame him for speaking his mind. Hopefully this sends a message to his team and to his coach.

I always value people who speak their mind, and I felt in this case it had to be done in this manner.

This team should be better than the record shows.

I don't think what Pietrus did was horrible, it was probably a good thing.

I can see why Pietrus is frustrated. I'd want out as well if I got teammates like he's referring to.

Jerry West was very high on this guy...I can see a possible scenerio where Pietrus and Dampier (sign-n-trade) are shipped to Memphis for a few players (and possibly draft picks)...

I think he feels he's working harder than anyone else yet Muss doesn't give him any time. He probably feels he deserves more minutesd and that some players are getting minutes but they dont work hard at all. Thats just what I'm thinking, and I feel that he is right.

Seems like sad news. Can't fault his words though. He's only a rookie, maybe he's not used to the NBA yet?? His limited playing minutes has nothing to do with his D, I bet you its his offense. Pretty shaky and inconsistent at the moment.

I think Openglfx has the right idea. He is busing his balls on defense while getting the Warriors extra possesions and his teamates seem to piss up bad shots or don't pass the ball to Pietrus. He is a young player and he needs to know how to get his shot though.

i don't really have a comment on this. all i can say is welcome to the nba mr. pietrus. maybe he doesn't realize the amount of minutes the guys play and how many games they play. he just needs to get used to the NBA life.

Thing is Peitrus has had a few good looks and past them up...he hesitated to shoot when he started and Ive thought the Warriors have been actually over passing alot this year so I dont think selfishness is the problem. Unless your gonna contibute good shooting you really got no room to complain about the rest of the teams shooting..Hes shown some nice potential so I hope he realizes hes not gonna always play for the best team

Pietrus' right. He deserves to get the ball more for all the effort he shows on D. Also, he might not even be talking about HIM getting the ball- maybe he just wants the team as a whole to play together and work hard.

I dont blame him for being frustrated at all. Muss preaches defense and he is the best defender on both teams and he is on the end of the bench. I do not think Petrius will be a star, but I think he can be very good and I would hate to lose him so soon. Especially since he was our number 1 pick last year.

But like you, I would hate to see a young talent go.

I think Pietrus apoligized for what he said, I think he said he was frustrated with all the losing. The article was on espn.

Now Pietrus came from a winning background in France to Golden State probably expecting the same thing. If I were in his shoes I'd be pissed too if my effort didn't translate into any burn. I'm just wondering if he talked to the coach first before going to the media about the playing time and number of shots he gets.
