Quote:

The moment Ricky Davis put the ball through his legs before missing a dunk against the Lakers last Wednesday, the preponderance of his Celtics evidence took a grim turn.

Davis in Green has generally not been the Davis that was advertised when the Cavaliers exorcized him from their roster and sent him here, and the infamous Lakers' highlight is certain to get serious frequent flyer mileage.

A failed circus shot after a full revolution dunk in Minnesota three nights prior? Hey, there were some who half expected Davis' head to do a Linda Blair 360 when he got to Boston.

Despite bringing heat upon himself, Davis has been a far better Celtic than expected, coming off the bench without complaint, shooting 48 percent from the floor (58 percent in his last seven games), defending very well in man-to-man situations, happily averaging 13 points in a modest 28.6 minutes, and even overpassing at times.

Paul Pierce does go into a little explanation on Davis' missed dunk attempt as well at the end of the article...good stuff altogether

It's the potential factor that Davis has, that is all it is.

I'm sure the Cavs also appreciate the fact Ricky is in Boston.

I haven't been watching or keeping up Boston so I can't give an honest assessment of the situation. It looks as though Ricky has matured a bit (if you disregard the dunking incident) in Boston and is accepting his role there.

How do you call him maturing, then disregarding a situation?

He also refused to shake hands of the Cavaliers players in our first game against them in Boston (a Celts win)

Also after the trade was made he blew up on Cleveland (Black hole anyone?)

He has not changed, won't ever change, he is just Ricky Davis.

That's a fairly disconcerting view of the situation. Those dunks where nothing to even get in a twist over. They happen on a regular basis to players lik,e Kobe and T-Mac all the time. The only reason these were noteworthy to the press was because it was Ricky Davis and they were looking for anything to start some controversy. Even the players involved in those games said it was no big deal.

Davis has been nothing short of a consumate team player in Boston. I don't care what he did in Cleveland. I care what he does now and to date, there has been nothing that has raised a red flag.

He works hard, shares the ball and has been accepting of his role coming off the bench.

If that's a bad attitude, Then I want more players like Ricky Davis.

It's not like it's blind devotion or something. [IMG]
(Boston fans aren't generally tempered that way. We're usually harder on our players than others are willing to be.)

So Seriously, give me one good reason why we shouldn't support Ricky right now?

The knock on Davis coming out of Cleveland was that he was a selfish punk who was only interested in his stats and was a chemistry killer. (Did I sugar coat anything there?)

If you can show me one thing that supports those things while Davis has been in Boston, then I'll consider changing my thoughts on him.

However, given that I watch almost every single C's game, except occasionally when I have a work conflict, I can tell you that I've not seen it and and if it does occur, I'll likely be one of the first to post about it.

The C's have thier share of problems this season, but Ricky Davis in not one of them.

Hey calm down there guy, I stook up for RickyD too when he played for us. Everytime time he would do somethin stupid, Cleveland fans raged and said, no no no Ricky is just trying to bring excitement here. And he was, too bad it's not what we needed. Im glad RD is finally knowing his role and growning up. Im not knocking you guys for sticking up for him, it just reminds me of when we used to do it.

I used to be a ricky davis hater....I hated the guy SOOOO much..I heard he was selfish...Self Centered...Only cared about his stats and excitement..Didn't have the desire to win...And was plain cocky....So imagine how i reacted when i heard he was coming to B-Town?.....I ALMOST nearly quit being a celtic fan...I just thought..GREAT..Well done ainge..You brought in a freaking cancer to the team..There goes any chance of us becoming a good team....And then i saw it...the "change"..I saw no more chucking up silly shots...I saw no more laziness..I saw no more cockiness...I saw no more ME ME ME..BUT..I saw a person with a TEAM TEAM TEAM attitude...Who is willling to work hard......Is willing to play team ball..And his willing to lay aside personal stats for the teams benefit not to mention giving us BIG surges from the bench and getting guys fired up....Ans then i see him ASKING to guard T-Mac only to hold him to what was it?????....ZERO POINTS IN THE FOURTH QUARTER...Now that is a changed ricky..and guess what..."I LIKE THE GUY"...Seriously..Hes just going out there and working....And listening to instructions....Ok so i was a bit mad when he tried that dunk and failed..But hey...What about a guy that goes up for a normal slam and misses...?...Thats even WORSE....I commend ricky-d for his change in attitude..And he is just showing us he can be a scoring machine AND a DEFENSIVE stopper..Possibily one of thebest in this league.Once he finds some more drive..That combination of unorthodox offense...And intimidating defense.....Will become scary.....
