Rob Rowell- "[Warriors] have underachieved, period." "From the organization's standpoint, I'm disappointed. I think we were poised and positioned to compete for the sixth, seventh, eighth spots in the Western Conference, and we didn't do that. You can talk about injuries, and they're real. I'm disappointed with the fact I think we've underacheived, period."- Team president Robert Rowell Personally, I think that's a load of bull. IMO, we vastly overachieved because of all teh injuries we had. Our starting point guard was out for most of the season, our leading rebounder from last year was out for more than 50 games, our emerging young point guard was injured when he started to improve. Our starting PF averages close to 4 boards a game. How is a 30-something win season in the west, WITH all the injuries to a starting lineup like ours, underachieving?
Rowell is a suit in the front office who doesn't know what he's talking about. If Mully said it, there might be something to it.
Yeah, personally, I'm pissed off at the Warriors upper management- Cohan and Rowell. They put the team in an environment virtually impossible to succeed (losing our 2 best players, leading scorers, etc.), and when they almost do, say that they have underachieved. All while hiding behind a veil of secrecy from the fans.
I think Rowell is making these lame comments to set Musselman up to be fired. I really hope this doesn't happen. To blame this season on Musselman would be a disgrace. Rowell and Cohan should be pointing their fingers at themselves. There is a reason why the Warriors have not made the playoffs in a decade, and it ain't Musselman.
I saw and heard that quote during a Tim Roye televised interview during halftime I think. I think that Rowell shouldn't have said those things because it can misinterpreted as the players and coaching staff's fault and that alone could piss everyone off big time to point where they want to spend their effort on another club that actually gives a damn. As I've said before this organization is cursed as long as we have Cohan and all the idiots he surrounds himself with so why should we, the fans, give him money to give him a reason to stay and keep the team? You saw how well the San Jose Sharks recovered right after they fired that one idiot owner responsible for turning the club into a sick joke. Now the Sharks are one of the top teams in the entire NHL. Why don't we do the same? Sure it will be harder with one super rich man controlling the club, but what if he isn't making money on his organization? He'll have to sell the team.
I'm still going to root for the warriors though. The management will not get any of my money, however. Think of it like MP3's. You love the music artists enough to support them directly and cheer for them but hate the greedy, lying music execs and their RIAA scum that represent them. That's why there is a boycott against the music industry and why they're resorting to suing everyone and coming up with these sad programs like amnesty from prosecution if you submit your name, photo, and confession of downloading mp3's, and sending music reps to elementary schools to "educate" 10 year olds that when you download music it means you're a lousy thief who's more evil than Hitler, Stalin, and Ceausescu combined and you should be castrated and sold into indentured slavery as a result of downloading on Kazaa. Well maybe the warriors management is nothing evil like the music industry, but they're almost as whack when it comes to a future game plan and screwing the fans and the people that they are responsible for.
We can still root for them, we just have to do something to say that we don't agree with where the ownership is going with this organization. Anyone want to start a petition?

It's pretty sad that the management is going to blame the players. It was the management's fault for for signing Fortson to a contract where you have to say; you're our starting PF for years to come. Then not too long after or before you say Jamison is our franchise player. And most of these actions were just publicity stunts to show the fans that they are willing to spend their money and keep their players. When you pay Jamison, Caffey, Fortson, etc. as players that you want here for a long time, how can you expect more than mediocrity. I think picking up Fortson was a good move, in a talent way, since Fortson was a lot better than Caffey. And i liked seeing the Warriors keeping their top player in Jamison. But there is no excuse for signing those players to those contracts, other than stupid publicity stunts. And we saw the effects of those dumb pub stunts last offseason when the Warriors couldn't keep Arenas.
Well, Fortson, Caffey, and Jamison are all pretty much ancient history by now.. I have to say that the management made some pretty good moves to put the Warriors in a position to succeed this season (even though there were a lot of new pieces, it was a pretty talented and veteran team), but injuries were their undoing. I fault the management for blaming the coach and the team for underachieving when they actually overachieved IMO.
Yeah, I mean, there's no point in gettin the players and the talent you need to win if you can't keep them there long-term.
yeah, well the warriors, they underachieved..but not as badly... i mean-it hurt them to lose gilbert and antawn...but they still got guys like Van Exel and Jrich...speedy aint bad either... i mean they were around 500 at the end so, i dont think it was that bad the WORST underachievers that made me SICK was the clippers of last year god, they were stacked they had Andre Miller, Elton Brand, Lamar Odom...they should have been a playoff team, that one bugged me
bad team chemistry BTW i wouldn't call massive injuries that go as far as three positions deep as underachieving. What can you do?
