Jack Armstrong is on crack During the pregame show before the Raps/Warriors game, Jack Armstrong was asked some true/false questions. He answered all in a matter-of-fact matter, but the one about vince carter got my attention. When asked: True or False - Vince carter will be in a raptor uniform at the start of next year, Jack said false. Now....I don't claim that Jack is the foremost expert on the affairs of the raptors, but he said that a new GM would probably come in and trade the greatest asset the team has, for more depth. I don't see many matches in terms of contracts or even skill value. Any thoughts?
Well I would not be surprised if Carter was not back if a new gm was instated. There are two sides to this coin: 1) Maybe the team should trade away Carter now taking advantage of his value on the open market. 2) The Raptors are just not patient enough with this talented star in the league and have not surrounded him with the right cast of players to win. I really do think it is the second option but to put most of the blame on Carter is justified. He is the star player after all. But the fact is that Carter has shown that he can still be a top 10 player in the league and to trade away someone like that would be risky. Give Carter and Bosh a big man to battle down low and score 10 points a game and they will be in the playoffs.

Glen Grunwald was able to amass a pretty good bench when toronto went to the secord round of the playoffs, but since then, mistakes he has made have cost this team alot. The only thing i can say about Vince is that he seems very soft, and i think he has to get alot harder if he is gonna eventually take this team anywhere. But lets face it, the raps have a terrible bench, no big man, and very few role players.
There WILL be a new General Manager in town. THere HAS to be. Its not KOs fault, loook @ the team hes been given. All we need is big man, exaclty what CourtVision said. We had the potential to be int he playoffs. But thats the way the ball rolls.
Theres no point in trading Vince, thats just a ridiculous thought. Without him theres absolutely no depth in our team right now, we have the people but we dont get them together.
Well, Glen Grundwald has been fired today so if Carter is traded then it will be because the new Gm does not want him and thinks he can get more depth or another superstar. IMO carter wont be traded. Jack usually is wrong about things like this.
I think if you trade Vince you could actually address a few glaring weaknesses on the Raptors. Basically, they have to make some moves. You're not going to be able to trade Jalen Rose easily. Some GM out there would be willing to give VC a ride, because he still suggests some upside To me if you got a couple of good players, like a Desmond Mason type along with a legitimate big or PG, maybe with a 1 rounder or two, you take it. It looks more and more as though Vince will never get through a season without injury. To me he's becoming similar to the Jerry Stackhouse situation in Detroit a couple of years ago. I think that type of trade is what you look at, someone young with enough upside to make it worthwhile I don't know what possibilities legitimately exist for the Raps via free agency. Do they have a shot at a Dampier or an Etan Thomas? If that's feasible, maybe you weigh that into your approach with VC We've seen a lot of years with him. Only three finished in the black relative to wins..............
I'm not going to cry or something if we trade Vince, but as it stands right now he supports the city a lot and gets guys (FA's) to like the city and also want to come here. If we trade his I just don't want it to be some desperation move where we get mmarginal players who really won't make us better or even make us worse. We aren't going to get a Rip Hamilton trade. Carter is not yet at Stack's crapiness, the guy who is such a low % shooter, rebounds worse than Iverson and is horrible in clutch, can't defend. At least Stack can pass. I personally like Washington and watch some of their games, and I want Stack out of there, he hurts the team much more than he helps, if he helps at all, so VC isn't in that stage yet. If we got something like Maggette and Ely (I dunno bout Ely), it wouldn't be too bad, but Corey still needs to work on his D. I think it would help the Clips a lot too though, maybe even more than us.
When I first heard Jack Armstrong say that about Vince, I was shocked because he seemed so sure that he'll be gone next season. I hope the Raptor organization isn't making this a priority in the off season because I don't think he's hindering us from being a winning team (or I could just be a blind Vince fanatic). However, I also believe that NO ONE in this league in un-tradeable. Lebron James is probably the only exception to that. If we have the opportunity to trade VC in a deal that could benefit our team, then we definately should explore that option. With his injuries becoming a major problem and with his market value still being fairly high, right now is probably the best time to see what we can get in return. It'll be hard to see Carter leave but it could be for the best.
i wouldn't want to see vince traded unless we get an franchise player in return or at least close to franchise player.....i don't see what was wrong with vince this whole year....yes he took way too many jumpshots but i think if we surround him with a good group of guys and a guy that can pump vince up like oakley ( which i hope we sign him ) we can get back to the playoffs and go far .... i mean vince is avging 22 5 5 ...if he had a better group around him he could easily do better
