i agree with most of you that its a good move, but who will the new GM trade? I dont think trading Vince would be a good idea, but well if Bill comes ... not sure with Vince away to get into the playoffs

Club chairman Larry Tanenbaum and CEO Richard Peddie, with whom McCloskey met yesterday, might not share McCloskey's sense of urgency. Peddie has vowed to head an exhaustive search. When Glen Grunwald's firing was announced Thursday, the CEO floated the possibility that if the new guy wasn't in place in time for the June 24 entry draft, the Raptors could make their lottery selection with a contingency committee that would include McCloskey and even Grunwald.</div>....... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I've got a guy," said McCloskey. ^ that part in the article where McCloskey struggled to remember Yao Ming's name worries me. How can we trust a guy who can't remember the name of someone who will soon be the most dominant player in the nba?
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">JACK McCLOSKEY is 78 years old. He doesn't have a lot of time to waste. In that regard, he is a lot like the Raptors franchise that has hired him as interim general manager in charge of finding a clue ... not to mention his full-time replacement. In the zany world of Raptorville, the organization says there's no hurry finding a new GM. But the guy in charge of finding one says it needs to happen now. "I may be stepping out of line saying this," McCloskey said, cocking a mischievous eye toward the Raptors brain trust at a media gathering yesterday. "But I could get it (the appointment of a new GM) done in an hour. I have a guy on the list I believe is the best." </div> Full Article ========== http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/TorontoSun/S.../07/411657.html
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Raptors coach Kevin O'Neill has taken flak this season for breaking a lamp in anger. Compared to Jack McCloskey, the Raptors' 78-year-old interim general manager, O'Neill is a pacifist. The story goes that a 23-year-old McCloskey, then a high-school coach in New Jersey, once grew so enraged with the officiating after a loss, he found the referee in the shower and began choking the naked zebra. Perhaps it's no wonder that Jerry West, the famously ruthless NBA player and executive, once said of McCloskey: "I wouldn't dare play tennis with him. He would kill me to win." Maybe time has mellowed a man who hasn't been involved in the day-to-day operation of an NBA team since he retired as Timberwolves GM in 1995, this after building the Detroit Pistons into back-to-back champions in 1989 and 1990. But when McCloskey met with the media yesterday, discussing his role in the search for the Raptors' new general manager, he spoke with the frank edginess of an ever-competitive soul.</div> Full Article =========== http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081593064
yo one of my friend said that VINCE was like the prime reason why Hakeem and Milt Palacio was brought to T.O. and that Lenny and Glen got fired... personally, I think the dude is full of sh!t, he just wanted to blame Vince as much as he can, is there a source, or any fukin truth to that?
No there isn't actually Vince and Glen were close and Vince was said when he got fired, he said he would still invite him to his wedding even. Vince did recommend Milt though because they played together back in the summer, and Mo-Pete recommended Mateen Cleaves, so they picked Milt. Lenny's firing really didn't have much to fo with him, the organization just wanted a change and to let him go. Hakeem coming also wasn't due to Vince, its was just the organization that thought he would be helpful to us, guess not.
