Has Oakley caused a change in Francis, who knows but something has changed. Last 5 games: 19.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.80 steals, 51.6% FG, 11.1% 3PT (ouch!!), 78.4% FT. Month of March (14 games): 18.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 2.50 steals, 45.2% FG, 31.0% 3PT, 78.5% FT. Hmm....if he could've done this all year it would have been very good. March has been his best month since October which was only one game so it really doesn't count. November (41.9% FG) December (36.0% FG) January (40.1% FG) February (37.8% FG) Highest rebounding, steals, and FG% month, tied for assists with January, and second highest points per game month (18.6 in November).
nah i dont think its Oakley's doing...Francis is starting to take smarter shots and is accomodating himself easier within the offense...
I agree with HoustonHoopa. Francis is starting to figure out that for the Rockets to win he needs to play smarter basketball which he has done as of late. I am amazed that it took him so long to figure out that we need him getting 7 assists a night and around 20 points instead of 25 points and like 4 assists. Francis's numbers(except for his 3-point %) are really impressive as of late. I would give credit to Francis for taking smarter shots and becoming more of a "team player"
Yes, Francis has seemed to realize that him as a secondary shooter is the better option for the Rockets. He is taking less bad shots, and even though he still shoots horrendously, the attempts have gone down and he is stepping up in the clutch. Props to Steve.
