I said that I don't know which team has faced this much adversity? Everyone you mentioned is fine but all of the Lakers five were missing at one time or another during the season. With the rape trial and the bickering...I would call that adversity. Doesn't matter who started it or who did what, thats adversity in my mind. Back to the point at hand....The Lakers are not overrated.

Why should a team get extra credit for putting their girly bickering a side & playing like a team. Last time I checked that is what teams are surpose to do. The Lakers are not the 1st team to come together & play as a team even tho they dont like each other. So explain to me whats so special about that.? Like I said before injuries happen. Fighting thru them are a part of NBA life. And Kobe case. I'll give his teamates some credit for dealing with the media asking them the same questions a 1000 times at the beginning of the season. But they need to look to there teammate Kobe for answers. He was the one that put them in the situation to have to answer those type of questions. Dealing with a teamates tragic dealth is true adversity like bobby Phills with Hornets a few years back ,etc. Not dealing with GP upset about him not getting enuff shots or any of these other trival problems the Lakers went thru this season.
Lakers were overated in the fact that they were gonna lose like only 10 games. But the fact that they are going to go all the way, is not an over rated statement. The Lakers could've got 72-10 If they kept their focus, had the same mentality all year long, no injuries, no drama, and played better D, and wanted to win every game as if if it were their last. They are #1 right now, and wlll continue to go on their streak all the way to the playoffs, they have perfect chem. right now, and the team is playing with great heart, and everybody's happy. (even shaq and kobe). The playoffs are gonna be scary for nonLaker fans...WATCH OUT THE LAKESHOW IS COMIN...SPURS ARE GONNA DIE SUN.

As I have said, "Out of all the 29 teams in the NBA, I would say the Lakers had the most adversity" I'm pointing out a fact. Argue with it all you want but it is a plain fact to me. Am I disparaging the 28 other teams saying this? No, I'm just stating facts here boy. Trivial problems? Okay, one of their best players is going through a nationally televised rape case right now. This certainly does not equal the adversity when faced with death, but lets stay in this season and not bring up the past. Its still a big problem for him and his team mates. So lets stay on the topic now. Like I have stated before (2 times), "The Lakers are not overrated". Now if you want to argue with me on that, you are welcome to.

Please Anyway I get your point very clearly, you want the Lakers to get bonus points for over coming what you see as being extreme adversity or problems. Well I disagree, Like it or not. I never said that the Lakers were overatted. So you can stop telling they are not overatted now.
All the comments on the predictions of going 72-10 is pretty dumb IMO. Those statements were said before any of the injuries, and it turns out we go through a whole season of injuries. I'm not trying to give them anything extra by saying that they had all these problems, but it wasn't just a few players missing for us, almost every single player on our roster has missed consecutive games. As soon as those injuries happened, everyone knew 72-10 was unreachable, so why even bring it up. As long as you finish #1 and play like the most dominant team in the league, what else can you ask for? We won't get the record for most wins in a season, so what. That doesn't mean much anyway, as long as we come up on top at the end of the season thats all that matters. If we end up losing in the playoffs, then start calling the Lakers an overrated team.
The Lakers aren't overrated. While they might have underachieved in teh eyes of some "experts" who picked them to win 65-70 games this season, they still are arguably the most dominant team in the league now. Like Phreeze said, what more can you ask for? How is being the best team in basketball right now still overrated? Isn't that what they were expected to do?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">Lakers overrated? If you call being the best team in the NBA overrated than I guess you are right. Let their record show how overrated they are. As for my team? Sacremento. I would have said Dallas but I don't think anyone thinks much of them anymore.</div> I do . How come I haven seen any of you Laker fans saying the Spurs are overated. I mean that is the team that knocked you out that season right? Then again, they are the team that took the Lakers 2 overtimes to beat when they didnt have their two best players. Sounds like overrated to me.
Being and avid Laker fan, I think I'm going to pitch in on this. The Lakers, I don't think are overrated. Now, people are going to jump all over me because I am a fan, but, you know, if you look at it, how can they be overrated? They're #1 in an extremely tough Western conference, they've had an oeverall good season despite not having a healthy team. The big 4 has only been together like, 30some games this year total. Kobe has been injured, Shaq has been injured, Payton has been thrown out early in a couple games so he might as well have missed those, and, Karl has missed about half of the season. Plus, Rick Fox was hurt about half the season to top all that off. So, I can't see them as overrated when they now have the best record in the West and they've hardly had a fully healthy team all year. And now, they're currently on an 11 game winning streak and are not looking to be stopped the way they're playing. They have really meshed and the chemistry is fantastic now. So yea, to sum it all up basically, I don't think you can call a team who hasn't been fully healthy at all this season til the last month or so for the most part, overrated. Especially a team who is now #1 in the West and had to come from back like, 6 games to get there. They're not in any way overrated.
My most overrated team: Phoenix Suns. Early in the season, everyone was kind of saying they would finish at least 6th in the West. Even prior to the Starbury trade, they were sucking at the bottom standings. They're currently the West's worst team, headed to the lottery. Hype can really put so much pressure on not only an individual player but also on a team, huh? Extra point: That's why LeBron James is so great, he's 19 years old but he not only met the hype (which even veterans who just sign fat contracts find very very difficult to do), he EXCEEDS it!!! That's why he's called the King, Krazygreen heh heh!

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Dre:</div><div class="quote_post">now how in the world are the Suns overrated at this moment? Of course now that they are losing like this, they are no longer overrated. But in relation to EARLY SEASON PREDICTIONS, this team is highly overrated.

And now they're at the bottom of the league, so in reality they're overrated when you consider predictions from 5-6 years ago.
