I agree, i would like Doc Rivers or Byronn Scott, because they have expierence and know what works and what doesn't. Scott has been to the finals, and Doc has been a great coach, who has shown he can help a team win. Thats what we need a coach like that, that wants to win. We also need a Gm that wants to win, and will make trades in order for that to happen.

Don Chaney? Please don't ever say that again, please.

Tomac, was it deliberate that you spelt Raptors with an E in your info, or was it a mistake?

Doc Rivers is an amazing coach, he just had a very bad team. This team is somewhat young and has a lot of potential, plus he'd probably be able to bring out the best out of most of his players, being the nice guy that he is.

I say go for Jameer Nelson or Gordon, a serious PG is needed, or at least somewhat who can clean up after Jalen's turnovers and Mo' Pete's misses. I guess Jameer would do the job since he does "everything" well.

i dont know why you ppl hate don chaney....he's not really THAT bad...it's the knicks...not the coach ....when everything goes bad..it's always the coach...but when things are good...it's never the coach...

    my proposed trade:
Jamaal Magloire for Donyell Marshall and this year's lottery pick; magloire makes 8 million a year starting next season so the contracts match.

the raptors starting five is large and in charge if this trade is completed
    starters bench
magloire &copy; (shrewd free agent pickup, pf)
    bosh (pf) moiso (pf)
carter (sf) murray (sf, showcase him for a trade maybe for j. howard
rose (sg) (alvin (combo guard) hopefully gets picked up in
    expansion draft
    free agent pickup,(pg)
    {fingers crossed, forget nash he's a defensive liability and with this backcourt u need some big time defensive stoppers, remember what starberry did to us this year?}

For the dude that bashed my trade proposal

apparently new orleans wants perimeter help so getting a shooting guard in the lottery might be what they are looking for. plus, floyd isn't exactly infatuated with magloire since he refuses to play him down the stretch in some games. new orleans wants to overhaul their roster, i think it starts with magloire or baron davis cause clearly mashburn is damaged goods. lamond is 2 years removed from 17 points a game and with only 2 years left on his contract i'm sure a lot gm's might take a chance on him. howard isn't exactly the most enticing player; he has baggage and a hefty contract that's going to pay him until he's 37 which means another 5 more years. but for the raptors, they need him if a trade for a big man like magloire goes down. howard would be your first man off the bench and consolidate your frontcourt while adding vetern experience to groom bosh in the process. something we learnt this year is that bosh will breakdown if u bang him hard enough throughout an extended period so a little contingency in howard might be what the raptors need. as for the pg, well i prefer a defensive minded, hard nose defender that can hit the open jump shot to keep opposing defenses honest kind of player. u can bring that kind of player in for 3 million. plus, i think avery johnson might be an interesting fit for this team as a backup with a role in the coaching staff to sweeten the offer.

That's what I'm saying, do you know how many people want Centers, and then you have a good young on and trade him for an older perimeter oriented PF (not even a C), its makes no sense at all. Then New Orleans would also have no center, PJ is not a Center and neither is David West, what they'll start Tractor Traylor (F-C) at C. Even looking at the current New Orleans team they already have 3 PF's, what's the reasoning in such a deal.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">apparently new orleans wants perimeter help so getting a shooting guard in the lottery might be what they are looking for. plus, floyd isn't exactly infatuated with magloire since he refuses to play him down the stretch in some games. new orleans wants to overhaul their roster, i think it starts with magloire or baron davis cause clearly mashburn is damaged goods.</div>

They are not overhauling, but are trying to add pieces.
They can draft a SG with their pick (it's not that great but), and David Wesley and Courtney Alexander are still on the team. They're trying to get a 2 but its not some huge priority to lose a big man for, like people say depending on the talent you never trade a big for a guard. Their's much much much better trades out their than losing Magloire to get a perimeter guy.
Floyd is getting fired after this playoff series is over so it doesn't matter if he doesn't like Magloire. They will try and trade Mashburn, or if that's not succesful they will buyout his contract.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> lamond is 2 years removed from 17 points a game and with only 2 years left on his contract i'm sure a lot gm's might take a chance on him.</div>
Yea, and Wesley Person is two years removed from averaging 15.1 points per game, people know what teams they were playing for, they aren't looking at 2 years ago they'll look at what he did and how he acted this year.

Like I said, don't look at it from just our point of view, does Orlando also need a player like Lammond, no. You gotta realize that word get's around the league, people see and know what's happening on other teams. They know that Murray was tried as the second option and failed, they know about how much he's complained and all that.

Juwan's contract isn't necessarily hefty, but its 4 years with about 5-7 mill a year for a 30 year old guy isn't that great, and a player option on the fifth year. Why would we also want to take such a contract in the first place, Juwan is not a good post defender, he can score but he's not what we need off the bench and do you think he'll want to be coming off the bench behind a young'n, he wasn't happy coming in behind Gooden for a few games (4 games to be exact).

so what do u think we should with the lottery pick? i think we have 4 legit assests, the lottery pick, donyell marshall, vince and cb4. i would only trade vince if i could get a superstar back like paul pierce or get rid of a burdensome contract like alvin's. i wouldn't trade cb4 under any circumstances so i think u got to make moves around the lottery pick and donyell.

I agree. If we can't get a legit centre then we have to dangle Donyell as trade bait (due to the fact that he and Bosh both play the same position). Trading away the lottery pick is fine but we are talking about our future here. Lets be honest now, the Raptors are not playing for a championship this year, next year or the year after. They need to find players to develope to actually have a chance at a championship in the future. They have forget about winning now because that can happen in the East with any team. If they can make good solid choices with their draft picks we will have a strong team to compete next year and years to come.

Its kind of like taking a page out of Bostons book but reversed (We wanted to get in the playoffs but didn't. They didn't want in the playoffs but did).

Exactly, from day one I've said if we can sign a good FA center, possibly Etan Thomas now, Mark Blount is falling out of the picture, then Donyell Marshall can be used as trade bait, and we can maybe package him with some other player we don't want, but apart from Cater he's our most valuable trade option.

We need to keep our draft picks like Courtvision said, let's be frank, we aren't going to win a champoinship in the next three years unless something major happens, and we need to stock up on our talent that will develop.

i'm not sold on ethan thomas, i like him for 10-15 minutes but i don't know about 82 games and 30 minutes a game. he's still an undersized center even in the diminuitive east probably more comfortable playing power forward. by the way, remember thomas played well for one of the worst teams in the league and he's coming of a serious injury from the previous year. also, there are few teams out there that have a lot of cap room that would be willing to overpay for the services of a marginal rotation player like thomas. and as for a championship i don't think toronto will ever win one with vince on the team. professional sports is a "what have you've done for me lately, lately being the last game" business. i think he's too mentally and physically fragile to endure four playoff series. would u guys do the paul pierce for vince straight up deal?

^Of course. I was just telling my friend the other day that I would trade Vince straight up for The Truth. It won't happen but when dealing with Danny Ainge...anything can happen.

i love pierce, i think the bad olympic outing hurt his value really bad. he's in my top 10 : duncan, kg, j.kidd, shaq, kobe, t.mac, j. oneill, yao, iverson (damaged but still effective goods) and pierce

I like Pierce, but as you can see, since Antoine and Eric Williams (leader) left, he's realizing what Tmac, Vince, AI etc have to go to when they're the only focus on the team and he's not faring well. He turnsover the ball so much, and his shooting has just becoming disgusting for Pierce standards.

When Antoine left, Pierce went and bought 8+ books on leadership because he knew he wasn't a leader, but it wasn't that bad till Eric Williams also left and Pierce was just not able to produce that well, I don't know if I'd do it, I mean he's agressive and all but man, all he really beats Carter in is rebounding.

Yea that's the big thing, the games played, if Carter stays healthy though, then Pierce isn't really an improvement.

He does one thing that Carter does not. Defend. He can guard guys straight up and is one of the more underrated defenders in the league. This is one important factor that Carter is missing. The offense is pretty much the same.
