He's the dude with the biggest contract and Eschemeyer is the guy with the longest contract. How on earth would you be able to trade these guys given their injuries?
Trading NVE and Cliffy is a very real possibility. If we packaged Jrich or Dun or somebody like that, plus an expiring contract, we could get that superstar.

I wouldn't want to get rid of Cliffy for a couple of reasons. He's really a team Captain. He has been the leader to keep the young players positive. It's really risky trying to keep the young guys happy when you trade their mentors.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Warriorfansnc93:</div><div class="quote_post">I am hoping that can happen.</div> soory I edited and mentioned that trading Cliffy wouldn't be a good idea if it would upset the younger players. Part of the reason why the trades in the offseason were made is to get vets that can help the young players succeed. And they've done a great job on and off the court. I would say stay the course. But if you had the opportunity trade NVE and Eschemeyer. Keep the core players in tact.
Well we can trade NVE especially sometime next season, because that's when his contract runs out, right? He'd be really attractive to other teams that want to get some cap room next summer. However, I think the Warriors management want to free up some cap room themselves, to make a run at a player like Yao.
We'll never get Yao it seems because the Rockets will make moves to make sure that they keep him. But I don't know if he's the answer because if he ever got hurt badly it would be because he doesn't get a rest from basketball. The dude plays ball all year long with the Chinese national team and the NBA. He doesn't have an offseason and if the warriors put him into the rotation they'd have to limit his minutes to 30 a night or less to make sure he doesn't overstress his knees or get too fatigued to be able to run down the floor and use his quickness late in a game. I like everything else I see though. Too bad Dampier has terrible hands and lack of desire for the team because he's the perfect blend of size, speed, and strength for the warriors. If we got Yao, I'd imagine we would need some serious outside shooters and half court defenders like the Lakers had in their championship years.
Yeah I think Dampier's a better fit for this team, but try telling that to the Warriors management who want to draw Yao to attract more fans (after all, the Bay Area does have one of the largest Asian fan bases in the country; getting Yao would bring a lot of them to games). Once again, we see Cohan making player and personnel decision with his wallet, not with his head.
If the Lakers had that sense, they'd draft Ha Seung-Jin because of the large Korean American population down there or get Eddie Najera or something. But then again the lakers don't have a problem selling tickets. I would want Yao if the warriors could quickly build a team around him in time because he's a draw anywhere he goes and the guy nobody can stop once he's on. He's got desire while Dampier unfortunately doesn't. Plus not only can Yao sell out home games he can help sell out games on the road because he's a unique player 7'6" with quickness and shooting (he gets pretty slow with fatigue when you play him over 30 minutes though). The guy is becoming an icon of the NBA it seems and showing signs of becoming dominant on both ends of the floor if he works on his conditioning and his aggressiveness on the court. Maybe make a fake poster of the other team's star player burning his home country's flag to make him mean and monstrous on the boards. I heard this guy can be really aggressive and I saw the one game against Memphis where he was ferocious. He needs to repeat that performance cuz he was the man. I also wouldn't mind having a blend of good nba players of all demographics since you could market the sport to a variety of audiences. With that reasoning we should also get Pau Gasol or Eduardo Najera then and some other international players to balance things out. That's not bad reasoning since those players can bring strengths to a team and capture certain audiences to follow a team's certain player. Najera has the hustle. I would love to have him on the team if he can be healthy. Of course the warriors draws for me have been Earl Boykins, Jrich, and Brian Cardinal. It don't matter what color they are as long as they play with heart. I also am impressed with Troy Murphy and Claxton. Those guys are all kind of underdogs who've faced a lot of low expectations from critics and suprised people.

You get your cake and eat it too because he'll help sell out home games and road games and there will be more TV coverage because he'll be a legitimate star with all eyes on him and he could be the very next dominant player after Shaq and Duncan. The guy just needs more touches from a true point guard, an offseason to really bulk up and the right guys around him. Just watch his minutes until he improves his conditioning and get a solid backup center to give him rest and help him from early foul trouble. Yao definitely has an appeal to the Chinese/Asian American audiences in the bay area and that's great. The more warrior fans that can become hardcore and join the fold the merrier. As I keep saying, Yao has got the physical tools to be a dominant center if he works on more of his strength, and low post moves rather than just rely on his height and shooting. He just needs a full offseason and freedom from obligation to the Chinese national team. BTW do you think the warriors should pursue Mexican born Eduardo Najera because it would fill another bay area demographic the warriors are missing and he'd be great for the hustle and defense at small forward (Cardinal goes to power forward if we still have him since Cardinal is really a power forward). Eddie's a fan favorite at Dallas though so I doubt he'd be moved from there unless its because he's injured all the time.
I don't think the Warriors should trade Nick Van Exel at all, unless if the Warriors draft a PG and are willing to play him early next season, which is very unlikely with Muss as the coach. Also with Speedy being injury prone, the Warriors need a solid backup that could start a few games. And i think a healthy Nick Van Exel can do that. Also the Warriors direction is based on Nick Van Exel's expiring contract. They shouldn't change their direction again by trading him, unless you know you can get a player that can start and will start for the Warriors for a long time. Except trading Nick Van Exel seems like a typical thing the Warriors would do, even though it's pretty much clear that their direction is based off cap space for 2005. And don't forget Yao Ming is only 24 or so. If he came to the Warriors, he would be the center for a long, long time. But i don't think it's likely that the Warriors will get Yao, i think he'll stay in Houston. But if the Warriors in 2005 are able to get Yao, then i'd hope the Warriors try to get him at that time.
