i hate watching him drible the ball for 15 seconds then make a bad pass, can he be traded?

Many players are looking like they might get traded in the offseason, and I'd have to say Francis looks like he might be one of them. His style of basketball doesn't fit in with Van Gundy's system, and that really shows. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if we saw him get traded for a more experienced veteran and a pick. Maybe Sam Cassell if things don't work out after this season? I really don't know who it might be for but I could definitely see Steve getting traded.

As badly as I don't want him traded, I think that a trade is inevitable. He has shown glimpses of being the passing point that Van Gundy desires, he has not been shooting well, and is still very turnover-prone. Sam Cassell coming back to Houston would be great, but is he really an upgrade over Francis at his age?

Hey can the Rockets package Cutino Mobley "the Cat" and somebody to the BobCats for the 4th pick? So Houston can draft Jemer Nelson and Move Francis to the shooting guard where he is belong.

Nelson's a scoring PG too, and Mobley's worth more than a 4th pick in a weak draft.

    No, no, and no.

No, the Rockets can't make such a one-sided trade. BB has already said he's trying to bone up on draft picks, so he definitely wouldn't trade away his only one.

No, Cat isn't worth more than a 4th pick, since this draft has a lot of promising players. There are more than 4 that have the potential to be better than Cuttino, though they won't be better than him fresh out of the gate. I'm a Mobley fan, but lets be realistic.

And no, the Bobcats won't take Nelson at #4. He's too small for most scouts to really like before the late lottery, even T.J. Ford didn't go that early.

I HATE Mobley and I'm being realistic. The guy's stupid. He really is. But he's still got skills, that much can't be denied, and while at this point it's quite safe to say that he'll never be a star, he's still a scorer that'll work in some poorly-organized systems (and there's always such teams). The point is, Mobley is a player who you know will always give you exactly what you've been seeing the past few years. He's a Jordan-wannabe who didn't grow tall-enough, but didn't let that stop him from conforming to the new-school 2-guard that some point guards also follow. With a draft pick you may get more, and you may get nothing. If you're willing to gamble then I won't be changing your mind, but I would much rather trade him for someone I have already seen at this level.

Lets see... possibly Luol Deng if he decides to enter the draft, he has game and a lot of potential. They could end up drafting Josh Smith a great highschool player who has amazing athletic abilities. There's also a lot of european big men that are really good that i personally don't know much about, but are listed very highly on scouts minds and all that.

edit:but this isn't about bobcats draft, i think theres a whole thread about it.

I really don't like the way Steve Francis plays. It's like, sometimes he doesn't even think.

Any trade involving Francis going to another team but not for a point guard is impossible. Now to think of it, there's not many PGs who will give the Rockets as much skill as Francis gives them, so I'm thinking that the trade would have to come via the draft. The draft is full of potential and that is where the Rockets got Francis from.

Francis and Skill in the same sentence! That's not right! He's a major ballhog, his scoring ability is still there but he turns it over so much and makes such silly plays, it's not even funny. A trade is the best thing for everybody's sake, he needs to be on a team that can support him, that can make up for him when he makes mistakes. I know he won't be there, but say if he were on the Lakers, Malone and Shaq could clean up after his constant messes. Starbury should be who he plays like, a natural scorer who knows how to play, involve and not hog it. I see him with the Likes of the Jazz.

Are you bashing on his decision-making? I hope so, because skill-wise Francis is among the best at his position.

Yeah, he's a streaky shooter, an improving passer, amazing dribbler and an able defender. It's just the point guard concept that he has to instill.

Uhh... what???? I don't understand what you just said there at all..

Anyways, I see the Rockets trading Francis for a good role player and a middle of the lottry pick to draft a passing point. I think a team with picks 5-10 might be swinging for a package for him. Maybe the Clippers with their 5-10th pick and Q for Francis? They need a PG bad and that's not too far from reality in my opinion. I really doubt he'll be back in Houston either way, though.

Van Gundy's struggling enough with the concept of getting the ball to Yao and you think Q-RICH would fit his system?

Well maybe not, but he does have trade value..3 team trade? I dunno this is just one of the many possibilities.
