<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jeff McInnis played in Greece, had three stints in the Continental Basketball Association and more than 370 NBA games before he hurt his shoulder last month. Yet it could be argued that nothing in his resume caused his personal stock to rise higher than simply not playing. Seeing the Cavaliers wilt in his absence after he led them on a seven-game winning streak and to a 17-8 mark in his first 25 games after being acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers, has been eye-opening to say the least. That's especially true after each loss -- now eight in the past nine games -- when either the coach or a teammate pointed to McInnis' absence as a reason. His shoulder ached and his competitiveness suffered watching his team tumble in the standings, but his pride couldn't help but grow. That's a major reason why after this season McInnis wants to sit down with Cavaliers management to discuss a contract extension.</div> Full Story
Hell yeah, I hadn't thought of it that way.....his stock rose more since he's been out than when he played, and he played great. I think we've gotta keep him and Mateen, and somehow dump Ollie, maybe in a package deal with Wagner. BTW, good to see ya KJ.
McInnis is our MVP, without question. Sorry Bron, sorry Booze, sorry Z. We don't win without Jeff, that simple. Now don't get me wrong now, he is not our best player, but our most valuable. Thanks juice.
A three year extension for McInnis would be fine. I wouldn't want to go any further than that. He obviously has been the key to our success, therefor should be rewarded. However we seem to reward people a little too well here at the Cavaliers.

Karma, I agree with you once again. I said to someone earlier today when discussing McInnis that I'd offer him no more than a 3 year contract. He'll turn 30 before next season and the Cavs can't get locked into a long term contract with a PG that will start aging. Also to keep in mind is that McInnis has become a pain wherever he's player and has had trouble getting along with teammates and coaches. Things have been fine here so far but you do have to wonder if at some point his history repeats itself.
Extend McInnis's contract past next season for a max of 3 years. Draft, or aquire a young point guard in the next two years and we look good at the point for the near future. Now all we need is an athletic power forward and swingmen with range and defensive abilities. Oh yeah, a decent set of assitants too.
Battie is our short term option at power forward and center, while Diop is our long term answer as backup center. What we need now is someone athletic who can defend those athletic 4's that Boozer struggles with.
