<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">John Carroll is keeping a closer eye on his point guard situation these days. With Marcus Banks playing much better the last two games, the interim coach has to decide whether the rookie can handle a bigger role as the Celtics seek to clinch a playoff berth. The club clearly would not have turned the corner toward prosperity without the February addition of veteran Chucky Atkins, but Banks had 13 points against Golden State and 24 against Washington over the weekend, shooting 17-for-22 in the two games with a total of 13 steals. "I think Marcus has earned tremendous respect from his teammates,'' Carroll said. "That's the most important thing. And I think that his performance the last two games has been wonderful." </div> Full Story
Interesting, but I doubt he'll get more than 20+ minutes. Carroll might go 70-30 or even 60-40 in relation to PT% with Atkins and Banks, but I doubt he'd get more than that. Banks has to prove consistancy first, then steady big minutes will come. Until then, he plays super sub.
Banks has been playing great lately and is a up and coming point gaurd thats what got me to jump on his band wagon. Atkins is doing great starting for the club but the minutes need to tilt a little bit i say the PT% should/will be around 55-45 if not more.
As of late, I tend to disagree. Banks just isn't ready. In fact, the C's have signed pg bench coach, Dana Barros, to a 10 day contract because of the playoffs. Banks still hasn't developed a "look first" mentality that is required of a true pg. The C's don't need a scoring pg and if he doesn't learn to find teammates faster, he's going to continue to sit big minutes, because he's not in the top 4 scoring options on the floor, no matter who he's out there playing with at the time.
