I think its because Foyle is out of shape and still recovering from the knee. At least he appears that way.
I would take Adonal Foyle over Erik Dampier. He's a better defender and is a better bargain for the Warriors. Dampier is having a great season, but where was this type of play before? It seems whoever plays down low for the Warriors is going to put up big rebounding numbers. The last few seasons Fortson, Murphy, and now Dampier have all enjoyed big rebounding numbers. I would hate to see Dampier turn out to be the Olowakandi of next season for a cash strapped team.
I don't want to overpay for damp, becuase I'm afraid he's not going to play as well as he did last year and he may revert back to his way of playing. But the one thing he has is size and presence when he is on the court, that size and presence makes the warriors defense a lot better. Folye just not big enough and Murphy can't defend at all.
It's time to draft a center and forget Dampier and Foyle for now unless a sign and trade can be done which is nearly impossible if they're unrestricted. I wanted a safe pick like Jameer Nelson initially but now that I think about it, players of his type can be all too common every year. I mean look at Raymond Felton. He's already getting projections to be the next Jameer Nelson by the time he leaves college. Let's go for balance and grab the most unique player that could be hard to match up with in the paint or at the point. Anyone object to 6'7" point guards Shaun Livingston, Sasha Vujacic or 7'2" Kosta Perovic or 7'3" Ha Seung Jin. Yeah they could all be busts like Big Jake Tsakalidas or Big Country Bryant Reeves. The guys in the draft are young and sound pretty raw, but also unique in that they are big and fast and could be more talented than the last time the scouts observed them. I think those are pretty unique players that will stand out if you have big and fast on your side. Plus like the saying goes, "You can't teach 7 feet++"
Answer me this Warrior fans. I keep hearing the team will be built around "Chris Mullin" type players. Can any of you elaborate on what a "Chris Mullin" type player really is? Based on that, I'll have a better idea of what the Warriors are actually trying to build in Golden State.
I have no idea what kind of player is a "chris mullin" type player either. I guess only time will tell. I would love to keep Foyle, although he is undersized you know he is going to give you 110% every night which is more we got from Dampier.

All their moves seem to be done randomly. If the warriors could get Dalembert or Blount, I take them over both folye and Damp. But I'd be satisfied with Foyle for next season if he is signed to a cheap contract.

I think what you think, Gohn, is exactly what I think. There seems to be no direction. I'm not sure if people are talking about Dunleavy being the "Chris Mullin" type player the warriors are trying to build around. That's kind of insulting to Chris Mullin who actually played some defense and was a solid enough player to be one of the original USA dream team selections. If Mullin was trying to recreate Run TMC he should at least include it with some big rebounders that could score in the paint this time. I hope this isn't a bad omen to trade away Jrich like they did with Mitch Richmond. That guy was awesome.
I think you guys are being too harsh in saying the team has no direction, but I see your points since they have gone nowhere in 10 years, but all of the moves over last offseason made sense. Getting Cliffy for Sura was a steal and the big trade to bring in Van Exel cleared a ton of cap space, lets wait and see what they do with that cap space to make out decision, although they will probably waste it..ha ha. This offseason should be very, very interesting
The Warriors need to take a page out of what the Grizzlies have done. For them to succeed they need to have management support the head coach and allow him to build the team he wants and bench players who don't buy into their system. Hubie Brown tells West what type of player he wants and West goes out and gets them. So step one for the Warriors will be to make sure Cohen understands this concept and is willing to listen to his GM and headcoach. Mullin is capable of making deals and bringing in talent, but does he have Cohen's full support monetary wise or will he be handcuffed just like Gary St. Jean? The bottomline, it has to start at the top. Hell if Donald Sterling was convinced to open up the wallet, anyone can be.
has he ever mentioned he wanted to coach? I say they let Muss coach one more year, he has made some mistakes but what coach hasn't, I mean he has gotten 35 wins out of these guys and with all the injuries, thats pretty impressive. Lets keep Muss and let Mully take St. Jean's job.

I think i remember watching something about Mullin gong to Dallas for some sort of reason, during the offseason. And Mullin went to this gym to play some basketball and he saw NVE. And i think they were saying that Mullin was very impressed with NVE. So maybe NVE is a Mullin type of player... But what kind of GM has a "type of player"? That sounds sorta lame. I think the GM should just try to get the best players he can and to work with the head coach to build a winning team that the coach can enjoy working with. All of this stuff about Musselman leaving because of Mullin coming in to be GM sounds sorta stupid to me. If a GM is good enough he should be able to work with any coach, especially a coach that has had the success that a Musselman has had with the Warriors.

I too would keep Foyle over Dampier, regardless of how good Dampier is, he's at the peak of his abilities anyway. Plus you'd be able to get more assets and aid for the Warriors, so many teams would be willing to get Dampier for his size, blocking ability, etc. Teams like the Pacers would offer you good things, you could even toss in NVE to get even better players.
Foyle is very hardworking. He is a physical defender and a strong rebounder. I'd say that the Warriors don't really NEED him but will miss him if he's gone. The Warriors should try to keep him around.

BTW- Foyle is one hell of a shot blocker.
