Good. I wanted him to play PG in the NBA. When LeBron was coming, everyone told me that Dajuan would play SG and I was confused and a little mad. I just think that is D-Wag's position.
Juanny needs to do whatever it takes to be more useful/versatile as a pro and whatever it takes to guarantee consistent playing time. Unless he wants to continually yanked up and down, from good minutes to no minutes, keep working hard. That is, unless he goes to another team.
I've always seen on Wagner as a pointguard player, he got the potential to be it, and if that's what Cavs need from him, lets play him there.
With McInnis being a mentor, I feel Wag could suceed. He just needs to play pg more often and get used to a new role, a very important role. He already proved that he can score. So thats a major plus. An offensive PG is exactly what we need. So if this actually goes down, do you still think we will draft a PG?
I haven't seen anything in Wagner's game that shows he could become a successful PG in the NBA. He's an undersized scorer with a questionable outside shot. He has always been just a scorer and has no ability to create for teammates or run an offense. Wagner has talent but I think he should be moved this summer while he still has some value in the NBA. Cavs don't have many tradeable commodities left. I just don't see Wagner fitting in here or having a future with the Cavs. Hopefully he plays well to close out the season so interest in him increases.
Well, this will be about the third time they've attempted to make him something that he isn't. The first couple of occassions were complete failures, so I expect the same thing to happen again. He doesn't pass the ball well, he is selfish, and he isn't that great of a ball handler, so why are they trying to make him a point guard? In my opinion, we should just cut our losses and accept the fact that he was a busted pick and try to move him before he loses all of his trade value.
Theres a good chance that Silas is doing this to pick up some value into Juanny. Im willing to bet he will definatly be packaged during the off-season for someone that needs a 6'2' scoring option.
At this point I'd give the Cavs the lattitude to do anything they possibly could to salvage what I've said all along is a "Busted Pick.".............Tank
Dajuan Wagner will be the new era of the point gaurd watch and see. Look at Juanny he can score can rack up assists and is a decent rebounder for his size. Juanny will shine for many years to come so all you haters better get ready to be proven wrong for some reason Juanny reminds me of Stephon Marybury.
this transition could be a great move or a bust.before juanny got drafted i really liked his game. i thought he had the potential to score and pass. about the position thing im not really sure. he is a scorer and im afraid his game would be taken away from him at the point. at the same time i dont c how at 6'2 he can play sg in this league. hopefully he would still look to score and make a good transition. hes full of talent, just needs to develop it more and get some experience at the point.
Regarding Wagner?s ballhanding, he?s a fine ballhandler. I see him ripped of the ball less than LeBron or Kevin are. His decision-making is the problem, that's where his turnovers come from (not from people taking his handle, his rock like they do Ollie or James occasionally). Being a PG is often more about the mental aspects than throwing a pass. Any fool can grab a basketball and throw passes against a wall for hours. So becoming a good passer is something anybody can do. Become a great passer? No, that?s an elite ground most never see. But I see no reason why a person cannot throw a decent chest pass or bounce pass. That?s basketball fundamentals 101, in the same area as shooting a foul shot, you don?t need to be a specialist to do that. The sadder prospect with the Cavaliers is that they are losing young players quickly and if Wagner resurges on another team, it would be the 2nd young player in 1 year who does much better with another team. Sure, from a Cavaliers standpoint, certain players will not work within the system. But if I looked at things from an outsider standpoint, I would have a different view on matters. What exactly is the Cleveland offense? An offshoot of UCLA offense than negates the playmaker (PG) into the weak side, far corner, rendering that offensive player virtually useless? The sheer lack of plays and variation makes for an extremely predictable and chaotic system. People know what the Cavaliers are going to do before they know it themselves. Boozer, Kapono, and Wagner are the only people who move without the ball. All the other players stand still, thus render themselves nearly useless and become very easy to guard. So LeBron is staring at a team of players who stand still and look for him to create something. When I watch the PG call plays, I get the feeling more times than not, the actual play was not executed and they're trying to wing the possesion, trying to salvage that trip down the court since the play didn't pan out. I wouldn?t mind seeing Wagner go if the return is good. Then he?ll thrive in a team with a system like Darius Miles. It?s just a shame that for whatever reason (the player?s fault, the system or both) people are leaving Cleveland and becoming better players elsewhere. If this trend continues, then it will reveal something less than flattering. I believe if a player lacks the talent, he won?t be successful no matter where you place him. But if he experiences a total rebirth somewhere else, then it makes you look at yourself in the mirror. I would like to think players can be developed in Cleveland but that remains to be seen.
For me, he's too valuable a player to be playing 10-14 minutes a game behind McInnis. I think he'd be worth more to us being traded. He's just too good a player, or at least potentially good player, to be riding the pine. He will shine wherever he goes if he's given solid minutes at the two. I'll never say never though........if we keep him, he'd better become a good PG.
Wagner can definatly be worth something. He is young and still has alot to learn. IMO he can mold into a Baron Davis type of player, a PG who takes 20 shots a night. He just needs the chance to.

Really though, there isn't that many true point guards anymore. He could be something like Mr_Infante said he could be like a Baron Davis guard. Somewhere around 18 shots a game and 7 assists. But it's hard to have a point guard mentality when u don't have one. I don't know, I thought he could play Pt. but that was before I heard he scored a 100 in HS. I just can't really see him playing at the point much. He be like how Francis is right now most likely.
What young players are the Cavaliers losing quickly that are hurting the franchise? Please don't tell me Ricky Davis and Darius Miles. Ricky is an ok player on a good team and a good player on a bad team, thats it. He is the worst decision maker I've seen pass through the organization. Combine that with his knack for alienating teammates and being almost impossible to get along with and you had a player that was doing much more harm to the Cavs than he was doing good. I'd rather have Mihm back than Davis. Miles was given every chance to succeed in Cleveland and he couldn't do it. The Cavs needed someone to run the show or a shooter who could free up the paint. Miles provided neither and was horribly inconsistent. Miles has plenty of physical talent, but until he decides to work hard and get his head in the game he won't fully recognize it. He's doing well in Portland on a team that better fits his style or play, but I'm not going to miss him until he develops an outside jump shot. When he becomes a perimeter threat, get back to me. Since when did Wags become a good rebounder and passer for his size? His assist to turnover ratio was negative just a short while ago. In his 16 minutes a game, he is barely averaging over a rebound a game. His ballhandling isn't anything special. When he was forced to carry the ball up court under pressure he struggled mightily. He makes mis moves to the basket mostly by tucking the bull under his arm like a running back and taking a couple of steps before releasing a floater. I'm not even going to touch on his defense game, because he has none. Lebron has the shooting guard slot locked down and if you ask any knowledgable Cavs fan who pays attention to games they will tell you that Wagner can not play point. That doesn't leave the Cavs with a lot of options. No team wants a lottery pick racking up DNPs 3 years into his career.

From watching Boston games, Davis is actually playing defense (a feat most said he could never do) and looks to be (gasp yet again) a team player. When I see Davis hustling, hawking people on defense, now I realize if he can learn defense, then there's hope for everybody. Miles is another enigma, since becoming a starter, Portland has gone on a winning streak. In many games, he's the best Blazer on the court. I don't miss Davis at all but he is improving on another squad. That was the gist of my post. For reasons (whatever they may be), players struggle in Cleveland then go elsewhere and feel rejuvenated. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Miles was given every chance to succeed in Cleveland and he couldn't do it. Being a good passer (in the literal sense of the pass) is not hard. The decision making behind the pass is the real issue. And yes, Wagner has no defense. But lately, neither has Z, Boozer or any other player on the team (only Brown seems consistent, Diop is having moments and LeBron would be better if he didn't have to play so many minutes and feel gassed on the defensive end). But for what it's worth, Watson was trying to go at Wagner and Juanny did a good job last game out. But then again, decent minutes usually makes players try harder on both ends of the floor (offense and defense). Defense is a problem for all the Cavaliers' players now; every single one of them are VERY guilty of this. Even the highly praised post players of Cleveland, seem to be giving up as many points (if not more as of late) as they're scoring. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Lebron has the shooting guard slot locked down and if you ask any knowledgable Cavs fan who pays attention to games they will tell you that Wagner can not play point. It's simply a matter of suspect strategy. A 2 guard with a shakey shot is like a 1 without passing. LeBron makes it work due to his sheer talent and ability. If his shot improves, he could be like Tracy and go from streaky shooter early in his career to consistent bomber later on.
To tell you the truth I'd rather have Wagner hoist a jumpshot before LeBron. LeBron's shot selection is terrible and tends to fade away everytime. (Like a developed Jordan) I agree with Remy on that fact.
I like him actually but there are several aspects that're very inappealing to me. The fact that he's really bad at decision making, turning it over a lot of the time, for someone who use to play PG, he certainly hogged the ball too often. Maybe he'd play better if he got more time, he'd feel more appreciated and his morale would be boosted. The teams that lack offense right now, such as the Magic and Sixers don't really have anyone worthwhile to trade for guys. If he could work on several things during the break because of the Olympics and the Summer then he might be worth keeping.
