i do understand, but i think that if the raps had vince at SG it would cause mismatches for the other teams due to his athletiscm and body. Besides, Jalen has made a living at the SF position averaging like 20 points at that posititon and he is a lot faster than most SF

Vince has played SG all his life and I never saw him really taking advantage of his athleticism because he always settles for jump shots when he is successful at penetrating. Jalen may be quicker but Vince is our main option so on Offense the ball won't be going through him as much on iso's... but on the defensive end he is much smaller and cannot guard people who can post him up. Oh well, enough with this conversation, back to the Next Year's Roster posts.

I think the big issue next season is Jalen Rose. He's been injuried, his skills are deminishing, yet he's due to make 47,082,000 million dollars over the next three years. That breaks down to an incredible 15,694,000 million a season, which he's defintely not worth. His contract is really going to limit Toronto's offseason, thankfully they missed the playoffs and have a lottery pick.

A point guard should undoubtably be a main priority, perhaps Jameer Nelson or Ben Gordan could be drafted depending on their selection. Who knows, perhaps Toronto draws the first pick, stranger things have happened. The Center postion is another concern, the only way to aquire a quality one would have to be through a trade. Donyell Marshall has had rising stock all season long, package him together with a bigmen and a draft pick and they may be able to aquire a center that can give them much needed low post production.

as i said before, Jamal Crawford isn't a bad idea to sign in the offseason. he had 20 POINTS Today against the raps. 7 REBOUNDS, and 3 assist. he has alot of talent and reminds we of Jason Williams, if you teach him to share, then he will become a great player. tale a chance, and it might pay off.

He had 50 points. 7 rebounds, and 2 asssists today, but no Jamal is still not a good pickup, he's probably the league's most inconsistent player, he has a shoot first attitude, he shy's away from contact more than Shawn Marion, he's a bad defender, and he's still stuck between PG and SG

Man, people just refuse to listen. Yes, Jamal Crawford is a great talent and he'd be a great addition to Toronto. BUT NO, Toronto will not have the money to sign a big name free agent like Crawford. They are already over the salary cap, that's why all moves in the offseason for Toronto will be through trade or through the draft.

NO MONEY = NO FREE AGENTS!!!

The Raptors have to trade Vince Carter. He is taking a lot of cap space and the Rose/Carter duo has not worked out very well. Jalen Rose knows how to lead a team and Carter can be shifted for a few complimentary players who play good defense and rounds out their roster. A Carter for Larry Hughes/Kwame Brown trade could work well for the organization.

I completely disagree. As much as I criticize Carter, he is very valuable to this organization in many ways. We would not even come close to winning the amount of games with Larry Hughes and Kwame Brown, and I know that the Raptors are 7th in the league in attendance, however I doubt we would be at that stage without Vince. I think we should work around him and Bosh, not get rid of him.

For franchise player, I don't think Carter's taking up a lot of cap space, especially considering how much money he generates for the Raptors. Rose's contract is ridiculous though.

I agree that the Hughes/Brown trade will benefit our team but the Wizards would have to be crazy to let Kwame go. Even if we gave up Carter, Donyell, and Williams for just Kwame alone (assuming the salaries worked), I'm still pretty sure Washington still wouldn't bite on that deal. Having a front court consisting of Bosh at 4 and Kwame at 5 would've looked very nice though.

crawford would be a horrible addition to the raps. vince is a better player then him, and jamal is going to ask for more money then he's worth. hes streaky and plays no d. hes not a team player and a bit of a ball hog.

btw...raptors have tons of cap flexibility comming up since we have 8 contracts comming off the books and either donyell or jalen are sure to be traded. trust me...we have money to spend. grunwald said it himself

why? kwame has been a total bust. bosh just had a better season them kwame and he's a rookie. kwame should be a gym rat, and he's known as anything BUT that. this year was supposed to be his year, and he didnt play well again. id never want to get rid of our star and main ticket sales attraction for players like hughes and brown. horrible deal for the raps

Ask anybody who isn't a Raptor fan who'd they'd rather have on their team, Carter or Kwame. I can guarantee you that they'd say Kwame in a heartbeat.

Sure he can be viewed as a bust considering he was a #1 pick, but that still doesn't mean he has tremendous potential. It took Jermaine O'Neal years to translate his game from high school to the nba level so it'll only be a matter of time for Kwame to become a player of his calibre. If a trade like that did happen, then having Bosh and Kwame in the front court would be one deadly combination.

id like to see that poll. who in their right mind would rather have kwame then vince? vince is an all-star, in the top ten in scoring, one of only a few players that can put up 20, 5 and 5 (thats only 2 rebs short of what kwame puts up WHILE STARTING AT CENTER) vince is eastern conference player of the week (on a few occasions) he is basically everything that kwame isnt, and that he might just be? kwame hasnt shown the work ethic to be what he COULD be. vince is, what kwame COULD be. no gm in the league, no coach, and no one with any basketball IQ would take kwame over vince. thats not bias talking, thats a fact.

I'm a Raptors and Wizards fan, but Carter for Kwame isn't a deal I would do because till Kwame shows he can do it which he has, but for a whole season you don't do a trade like that.

Also Bosh and Kwame are both PF's and Bosh has just as much upside as he does so I wouldn't do the deal, but if it was Arenas and Haywood for Carter, haha I would definately do it.

I dunno about that, a lot of people still hate on Kwame even though he's done well this year, it annoys me actually.People wouldn't take Kwame over Vince though, maybe if he starts putting up 20, 10 and 2 but right now, no way.

i can understand y some ppl would take kwame but i dont agree with it. kwame is still young and vince is past his best days. still, i would trade vince for a player with more potential or a proven player. kwame COULD have potential but id rather go with some1 im more certain about

how are vince's best days over? hes still pretty young. there is no reason why he cant put up 22, 5 and 5 for the next few years. in fact, there is no reason why he cant do better then that

yeah i agree that he can still put up 22-5-5 but the raps might want to start to biuld the team around Bosh since vince is no longer the type of player that will crry a team. Putting up good numbers may not be enough.

It?s not about who?s the better player now, it?s about who will be the better player. And you can?t simply wait for a player to start putting up big numbers before you get him. The moment that player starts putting up big numbers that?s when it?ll be too late because that player?s stock would?ve risen too high. And there?s no doubt in my mind (and many people?s minds) that Kwame Brown will someday put up big numbers given proper training and patience. That?s why if we were offered Kwame (a rising young star) for VC (a veteran star), then we shouldn?t hesitate to do it. Did Indiana hesitate to get Jermaine O?Neal in exchange for their veteran star? Nope, and look what JO?s done for the Pacers. Did Detroit hesitate to get Richard Hamilton in exchange for their veteran star? Nope, and Hamilton has been a pivotal part to the Piston?s success.

It?s not about numbers as it is about upside. This is exactly what AD was talking about when he criticized management for choosing Michael Bradley instead of Zach Randolph. Bradley had the numbers but Randolph had the upside. The same could be said when you compare VC to Kwame Brown. Keep in mind that age and health would give Brown a HUGE upside.

The only reason why trading VC for Brown wouldn?t be beneficial for the Raptors is because of Bosh. But if we were to base the trade primarily on talent and potential then the Raptors would definitely have the better side of the deal.

the thing is...kwame was supposed to have a world of potential when he was drafted...and he still hasnt shown much improvment at all. he was given a chance to shine, with starting roles and he didnt step up. jermaine wasnt given any more then 13 mins a game when he was in portland. soon as he was given the minutes, he had a career season, posting career bests in scoring, rebounds, blocks, steals, assists...everything. soon as jermaine was given a chance, he showed what he was capable of...kwame was given that chance and he didnt show up.
and rip was already an established scorer when he was traded. that wasnt an example of potential...that was a different style player fitting into the system in detroit better. in fact, rip's scoring has gone DOWN since he's been in detroit. not that hes not as good a player...but im just showing you, that its a completely different situation.
