That said, the Coach of the Year voting is no contest. The winner has to be Jerry Sloan.
Of course, I say this with some trepidation since complimenting Jerry Sloan can get me a snarl and angry stare. A Coach of the Year trophy? Heck, Sloan would much rather have another old tractor. Even another weathered John Deere baseball cap. You can keep the trophy, although Sloan deserves to have it.
I don't know if the Jazz will make the playoffs this season. I do know that, no matter whether they make them or not, Jerry Sloan has done one of the best coaching jobs in the history of the NBA.
You watch the Utah Jazz and you want to quote that line from the old "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" movie: Who are those guys?

This is a great article, and it convinced me that Jerry Sloan should be the COY. I recommend that those of you who think that Hubie Brown should be the COY read this and see if you still think that.

Well, I must say, the article should be pretty convincing to the Hubie fans, but I already thought to myself in the first place that Sloan should've been COY a while ago. I think it's long overdue for him.

I agree that Sloan should get it, if for the only fact is that he is long overdue. But if you look at the talent on this team and the talent on the Grizz, the Grizz are better. The Jazz has one player that was a lottery pick (and thats Googs), how many does the Grizz have? The whole team maybe? In any other year I would say give the trophy to Hubie, but this year it has to go to Sloan.

Great point there, another one is that the Grizz use a 10 player rotation. Ask yourself how many of the Jazz would make it into that 10 player rotation?

I think Jerry Sloan should be Coach Of The Year from the beginning, i personally thought at the beginning of the season they would be one of the worst teams, but jerry sloan is one hell of a coach. I still think they are giving it to Hubie.

I doubt it's in the bag, but Jerry has my vote. With everyone in the country expecting the Jazz to finish DEAD LAST in the West this season, minus Malone and Stockton, those predictions have fallen flat on thier face.

I'm not a Jazz fan, but I've never been prouder of this franchise. They are doing the same thing my beloved Celtics are doing: Proving the "experts" wrong.

There's something about that which makes me smile.
