I never used or will use tutorials.The best stuff is all experimental and creating unique personalised techniques.
I use them if I see an effect on someone else's graphic and I'd really like to try it out. I think they come in handy then.

Tutorials suck, ripping off someones work sucks. Design is all about imagination, you are an artist when given that canvas, it's up to you to make something out of it.
^Don't really agree... effects that shows how to make effects and stuff is not good, but tutorials that shows how to use a tool is ok, right?
How are you gonna design something if you don't know how to use anything? Tutorials are great for beginners.
I gotta agree with kvh4fan. With tutorials like the one you find on www.good-tutorials.com (thanks TimFlem for giving me credit) you learn the basic stuff. It's not about ripping off someones work like sasha said it's like getting new ideas and learning how to use photoshop and all the tools around. It's also about getting new ideas. You'll find a lot tuts which are there just to copy it but you still learn and see how things work and what different effects can do. But you also find other tutorials which explain how to use tools, how to improve your pics, how to do a cutout properly and all that kind of stuff.
I've always used Paint Shop Pro. I just started using PhotoShop in school and I've been looking at different tutorials on how to achieve certain effects and how to use them. If I was just to sit there and try to figure out how to use it on my own, I'd be there for ages! Do you know how long it took me to find how to add a border? lol.
I think theyre only little options in paint shop pro but maybe its cause i havent experimented that much with it

I like experimenting, and creating different effects. No tutorial is going to teach you how to use polar cooridnates, or wind effects, or Eye Candy type stuff. that's something you do on your own, and I find it better like that.
