<div class="quote_poster">Quoting I3:</div><div class="quote_post">Man. That was one BAD GAME for LA. I was rooting for them. I though Kobe would have one of those night's he had against the Magic. Where he was 1 for 3 in the first half. But exploded with 37 Points. Guess I was wrong. At least you guys are making the Playoff's.</div>The difference was he had a premier defender in Christie guarding him.
God i wanted LA to win badly..I tought kobe would explode but i guess not..Webber had a nice alleyhoop..Did anyone see Karl fouling Brad in the first Q and putting out his hand and then taking it away, that was SWEEt ,they were all laughing.
First of all, Christie didn't really shut Kobe down, although Kobe praised his and the Kings' defense. This source http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=240411023 suggests that Bryant was too passive with the ball, passing up open looks and giving the ball up. Possibly a response to Phil Jackson's recent criticism of his selfish game. Take a closer look and think and post before every King fan or even Laker fan bash the Lakers. It's more about the Lakers themselves, what's in their minds, the referees instead of the Kings. It's never about the Kings, we Lakers shouldn't worry about an opponent that hasn't beat us in a playoff series. (And all the cocky Kings act like they have truly done so).
Ok first of all, I'm one disgusted, frustrated, ANGRY Laker fan. As I sat on the couch with my dad and my 26 year old cousin that's a Laker fan who drove from no other city than Sacramento to come and chill at my house for the Laker game, the Los Angeles Lakers played their worst game in 2004. Mark it on paper. The Lakers clearly were straight up destroyed this afternoon. And the stats don't lie at all. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal were SCORELESS in the first half. Let me repeat. Absolutely scoreless. And they didn't even attempt a shot. Kobe and Shaq are the bread and butter of our offensive schemes, and if two of those guys go scoreless for a single half, OF COURSE YOU'RE NOT GONNA WIN!!!!! As the game advanced late into the second half, I looked at my players eyes and I saw no fire. They were playing like a collegiate team out there. Like it was some kind of scrimmage game. Stupid fouls committed by the Lakers left and right, and please, let's not forget Malone's HORRIBLE foul on Webber with 0.7 seconds left on the clock. So instead of LA only being down 12 in the 4th quarter, they were down by 14. A 19 YEAR VETERAN IN THIS FREAKIN' LEAGUE CAN'T BE SO STUPID!!! What a rookie mistake. Now instead of advancing up the standings to be no better than a #2 seed, the Lakers are now in a situation where they can be no worse than 4th. And you know what fellas? This team did it to themselves. They had a golden opportunity to be the #1 seed with homecourt advantage throughout, but coming off back to back losses to San Antonio and Portland, and with this terrible loss, the Lakers can kiss that goodbye. Let's hope that with the spot we're in, it doesn't tarnish our championship hopes. I hope everybody gets prepared for the playoffs. Because this will be a very interesting one.
Don't worry Laker fans. Laker threw this game purposely. Laker are thinking to themselves who do we want to face first in the playoffs? Rockets or Memphis? Memphis of course. That how I would look at things. And I'm sure somebody on that team was thinking the same thing. Kobe and Shaq being one of them.

Keep this up and you will begin to sound like pupmelo...which is in no way a compliment. Why don't you guys take some tips from Laker_fever. He is a quality poster.
It really looks like the Lakers were not trying,no defence or nothing.Kobe can take Christie any day but he just passed off if he wanted to shoot he would of.The reason why i think this is because this loss favours Lakers because they would prefer Dallas to the Rockets.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">The difference was he had a premier defender in Christie guarding him.</div> Nope,Kobe could Christie any day,he was not looking to shoot+he is far better than Christie.
@Peja King At that point i was frustrated. I have huge respect for what the Kings did and not hating. I have to say it was a dump thing to say from me. Wont happen again. Even though they won i dont have to like it. But just watching the game they deserve to win. I cant argue with that. It was a hell of a game for the Kings and not hating. Just frustrated.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GraphicXpert:</div><div class="quote_post">Did anyone see Karl fouling Brad in the first Q and putting out his hand and then taking it away, that was SWEEt ,they were all laughing.</div>Yeah, I saw that too. That was killer
Chump, I really haven't seen you here as a poster on this Laker forum, but what you just said was the worst statement a Laker fan can ever say. What do you mean they supposedly gave this game away so that they can figure out which team to play in the first round?? If you were watching the game, you could clearly see Kobe was a non-factor. Let's scratch Shaq out of the picture here for a sec. Does Kobe Bryant against Sacramento only shoot one shot in the first half alone?? Does Kobe allow Doug "Purse Designer" Christie make him look like a complete idiot and a first year rookie? HELL NO!! Kobe always makes sure he shines whether playing Sacramento at Staples or at Arco Arena. But Kobe just tanked this game out the window, and put his ego first instead of the team, and disrespected our nine time champion coach Phil Jackson. Now, you may think otherwise that Kobe didn't do this....I know for a fact there's some blind Laker fans in here, but we don't need selfish arrogant egomaniacs on this team, and with the disgust I feel towards him right now, I don't want Kobe back on this team anymore. I'll see how this '04 campaign goes in the playoffs, and whether we're world champs or not, I don't want to see #8 end up in a Laker uniform again. The Laker franchise is a proud franchise, and we don't need this man to tarnish our Laker legacy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Big Zee:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah, I saw that too. That was killer </div> I saw that. I thought it was great. I was thinking "Your dirty man" . Do you guys get as frusterated as I do when Shaq stands his ground and the refs are like "Due to your size, there must have been contact"? I mean, he does foul on the offensive end SOMETIMES, but you have Spineless, weak post defenders (Divac, Sabonis) who, instead of out-working Shaq, stumble with every step Shaq takes like he's Godzilla or something.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GraphicXpert:</div><div class="quote_post">Nope,Kobe could Christie any day,he was not looking to shoot+he is far better than Christie.</div>I agree that Kobe was trying to prove a point but whatever the case Christie won that matchup.
I spent the weekend with some family in sacramento and of course most of them are kings fans. I dont know what was worst, their gloating or watching my team not even show to play in a big game. Where the hell was kobe at? 8 points?? He usually puts up more than that in the 1st quarter. He always murders christie. We arent gonna win when our best scorer only puts up 8 points. I say no heart whatsoever from this team. If we play anything like that in the playoffs, we arent going anywhere. We need to get it together fast. Playoffs are less than a week away. This isnt the time to start playing like you're bored.

And as for the worst statement, your just saying it now by turning on kobe.If kobe was palying for his ego he would be throwing up shots. He was trying to get his team involved.I am used to watching the lakers and they played such lacidazicle defense which can be seen by Webbers alllyhoop ,he was all alone.Nobody got out on shots. Why start hating kobe,Shaq is doing all the talking and didnt bring it in the game.kobe kobe kobe kobe, you think he doesnt want to win ,who was crying last season,he wants to win. "Tarnish our laker legacy"...Wake up to all he has done,he is part of the legacy, himself and Shaq playing together for 8 years. And as for being egotistical Shaq is the king of that.
Laker_fever just called it as it is. I hear people saying how Kobe is a leader and will be the leader of this team but leader doesn't hurt your team in order to prove a point. What kobe did hurt this team. He, once again, let his ego get in the way of team basketball. If youre not frustrated with that kind of performance, maybe you should be examining yourself before judging others.
How come people can tell others not to judge others while everyone else is judging that Kobe was purposely not taking shots? Do you know the mind of Kobe Bryant? How come everyone trashes him for every bad game? How come you don't look at the whole picture before hammering Kobe? If people put Kobe Bryant as your favorite player or whatever yet write about how he tarnishes the Lakers, you really need to seriously change that on yoru profile. Do you not know what he's done for us this year? He has a freaken legal issues right now but still wants to help us out by coming out to play. He came back after four days from a shoulder sprain even when a doctor advised him to sit out for at least a month. Were 40 percent without hims and 75 with him. I mean when Shaq and Karl was out, the Lakers ripped the Hawks by like 40 pts. When Shaq and GP played without KB and Karl against the Hawks they lost. How can you think that Kobe just wants to hurt the team? I don't know why people always point to Kobe when we lose. You want him to shoot jumpers when he's being doubled? You want him to make his usual remarkable shots when he penetrates? If we lost and he was doing that, people would've trashed him for being selfish for taking those shots. That guy was being surrounded so he was passing cause he knew people would have criticized him for forcing shots. If you seriously think that he's being childish and has a huge ego, look at Shaq and GP.

Or maybe not. How can I hate on Kobe after one game? WAKE UP!! The Lakers have lost three of four all because of Kobe Bryant. Do you want me to go and find his stats for us losing three out of four?? Here it is for you: Kobe Bryant: 17/62. As you can clearly see by these stats, it's showing he's not getting anybody involved in the triangle offense but himself, he's allowing his horrific ego to be put first instead of playing Laker team basketball, and he absolutely QUIT on not only the team and Phil Jackson, but he quit on Jerry Buss and Mitch Kupchak in the biggest game of the year yesterday afternoon at Sacramento. And all because he didn't agree with Phil Jackson's gameplans. In our Laker legacy, would Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, the late Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Mikan, and others quit on the team and put their egos first? I don't think so. These men played team basketball. They wanted to go out and win every game, they made sure they had all 12 guys on the team focusede and ready to go, and they put on that yellow Laker uniform with pride. Yes, Kobe has won 3 championships, and I appreciate everything he's done for us, but I'm not a big fan of Kobe right now....and even if the Lakers win the title this year, I want him off the team. Plus, this man is even fortunate he can play on a basketball court.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Bryant, the N.B.A.'s fourth-leading scorer, took one shot while playing 21 minutes in the first half. He passed up open shots, allowed Christie to bully him on defense and did not play his usual aggressive game until the third quarter, when the Lakers were 21 points behind. After finishing with 8 points and shooting 3 of 13, Bryant insisted he was not avoiding shots. "They doubled me every time I touched the ball," said Bryant, who scored at least 34 points in each of his last five games against Sacramento. "So I just moved the ball, waiting for the game to kind of open up." Bryant's reticence might have been a response to Coach Phil Jackson's recent criticism. Jackson said the Lakers often suffer when Bryant concentrates solely on driving and scoring. Jackson refused to take reporters' questions after the game. </div> http://www.nytimes.com/2004/04/12/sports/b...ball/12NBA.html Do you guys buy this?
^ Heck no I don't by that statement. Give me a break. Was Kobe doubled every Laker possession? Sacramento realized he wasn't going to shoot anytime soon, so they gave him some breathing room. Does Kobe really want us Laker fans to believe Doug Christie of all people can shut him down? Hell no!! Kobe always takes advantage of Doug Christie in any head to head matchup. Why don't we look back to the 115-91 victory back in Los Angeles? Geez, Kobe really needs to get his act together.
