^^Exactly. Kobe tried to prove a point in the wrong way and at the wrong time. Not only has he lost the respect of a lot of his fans, but his teamates as well. Kobe is all about Kobe.

Why wouldn't Shaq say give me the ball? He's the most dominant center on the face of this earth. And when he receives a significant drop in touches, he feels as if he's ignored. And that he's no longer a big piece of the Laker offensive system. Gary Payton is just upset with the role on his team. That he's no longer a 20-25 point scorer anymore. He's upset with being the #3 option. Ok, so Kobe passed the ball to his teammates. BIG DEAL! He didn't contribute ANYTHING for himself and most importantly he didn't contribute anything to the team to lift their competitive spirits.
Shaq maybe the most dominant center on the face of the earth, but he is not playing as if he is. He is no longer the player that he was a couple years ago. He's slow, lazy and he no longer passes wisely(causes a lot of to's now). Kobe has guys after him man to try and shut him down. But he has to fight the temptations of trying to destroy them one on one cause he knows that it'll disrupt the team. Shaq's only competition is Yao Ming and look how he was against Yao before. He was trying to prove Yao and everyone else wrong becaue of his huge ego. We even had a better chance with him not on the team. Look at Gary...that guys the the biggest trash talker known to man. Most people trash talk why? Due to their huge ego.
