I believe its going to be Carmelo since they still have a chance at the playoffs. But LeBron and Melo might share it.
Frankly, Carmelo has slightly better stats and his team is in playoff contention in the West. Despite that, voters will choose LeBron anyways. The hype surrounding him is just too great. I liken it to when Dominique should have beat MJ in the dunk contest. Problem was, the contest was in Chicago....

This is a close one Lebron and melo however, not many people recognize this but Chris Bosh and Wade should be consider too. Anyways i would think Melo will get it but i can see lebron winning it bc of his hype
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">Frankly, Carmelo has slightly better stats and his team is in playoff contention in the West. </div> their stats are pretty close...melo's stats better in only a couple areas, and are better by a VERY slight margin ie: melo-6.1 rpg, bron-5.9. bron has been pretty amazing this year. melo's team is in the west, and prolly gonna make the playoffs...thats pretty amazing as well. its a tough call, but i honestly think they both deserve it
I personally think it should be Carmelo. His stats are either better or just as good in every category except assists obviously. But, he's not asked to do that, that's what Miller is for. But, the fact that his team is in the playoff race in the much tougher Western conference. I think that thought alone, plus his stats, back up the fact that he deserves more than LeBron. But, LeBron will probably end up getting it because of all the hype that surrounded him and the fac that he exceeded it and what not.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chris Bosh and Wade should be consider too.</div> There will undoubtedly be voters who will give them thier due, and deservedly so. However, they are both in the unfortunate situation of being in the same rookie class as LeBron and Carmelo and have to face the fact that they aren't in the running, realistically speaking. They've both had years that were more than most expected out of them, with numbers that are comparable to the big 2. However, hoping either of them will win the ROY is like peeing into the wind: It's just not going to turn out well.
Surely the league can't miss such a great marketing opportunity as to make them co-Rooks? It will happen.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Surely the league can't miss such a great marketing opportunity as to make them co-Rooks?</div> You're talking about the same league which failed to give the Celtics cap relief for a player no longer on thier roster, despite the fact that <font color="DarkRed"><font size="4">HE DIED.</font></font> David Stern can screw up anything. Co-rookies of the year would make too much sense. Don't bet on it happening.
well i feel that Lebron and Caremlo deserve co-MVPs but it will end up being Lebron, and third in the running Dwayne Wade has had an exceptional season. If he had entered the league a year earlier and posted the same nnumbers he would hav been MVP ov3r AMare, but Lebron and Carmelo mask what Wade has done.
for me it's carmelo. he is bringing the nuggets to the playoffs, and the guy is tough. and "t-mac_MVP" you use my avatare!! man...
Bron-Bron was super hyped, so he may get it, which I totally disagree with. And what's with that Lil' Penny wannabe? ARGH!!. I personally think it should be open and shut. Bron put in work, but Melo brought his team to the playoffs.....IN THE WEST. That adds a level of clutch that should be respected. When they had to, they won. Migraines and all.
You can argue for either LeBron or Carmelo for the ROY. The Cavs not making the playoffs, and the Nuggets holding on to the 8th seed make this a tough a choice for the voters. I would also make them CO-ROYs because of their impact on their teams and the league. No matter how it plays out, this year's rookie class has been very impressive. The top tier rookies being LeBron, Melo, Wade, Bosh, and Hinrich. Then you look at the 2nd tier crop of Ford, Hayes, Kaman, Pietrus, Diaw, and Barbosa. And we still have yet to see what Darko, Lampe, and Collison can do in this league.
I think either way, Carmelo has to be involved, He got his team into the Playoffs, into the much tougher conference to. If the Nuggets were in teh East I believe his stats would be better, His team record would be better, and they would mos def. have a higher seed, but you cant forget LeBron either, he and the Cavs took huge strides, and I believe they will be in the playoffs next year. Co-Rookie
The crop of rookies this season has been amazing and a true pleasure to watch. Lebron and Carmelo are the obvious front runners, but there is other talent out there contributing to their team. If this wasn't the year of Melo & James, I believe Wade would take the award. He is often underrated due to the simple fact that he's playing in the shadow of the two. Injuries have been a problem as well, but when he's on the floor he makes the Heat a strong playoff team.
it will probable be co- rookies of the year because they both had similier stats but lebron became only the third rookie in nba history to average at least 20 points 5 assists and 5 rebounds but on the other hand melo lead his team to the playoffs in a much tougher western conference but you also have to take into account all the hype surrounding lebron and how he performed in that situation also someone who should be considered is wade he lead his team to the number 5 seed in the playoffs and has had pretty good stats he helped a team thats winning percentage had gone down in each of the last four years reclaim there former glory so all three of those have a good case
Co-Rookie can only happen through 1) a fortunate coincidence in which the two received the EXACT same number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. place votes, or 2) if the league simply fixes the ballot to force it to happen. Either one is possible.
I agree with co-rookies but you guys say Carmelo got The Nuggets into the playoffs they barely made it,im not saying that matters but they sliped in the playoffs.
