Back Up Point Guards 1. Rafer Alston(great passer and is able to boot) 2. Bob Sura(Triple Doubles?) 3. Jr. Bremer(lmao j/k) 4. Lindsey Hunter(great shooter/Vet) 5. Damon Jones(same as Skip To My Lou) 6. Carlos Arroyo(Showing what he can do in Utah) SF/ SG Shooters 1. S-Jax(for Karma. Great shooter) 2. Quentin Richardson(Restricted F/A?? Decent Shooter can run the floor) 3. Manu Ginobli(developing great, can shoot etc) 4. Wes Person(we all know what he can do) 5. Scott Padget(Nice Vet. Nice Shooter) Big Guysno order 1. Rasheed Wallace(Somehow afford him will fit great) 2. Loren Woods(hasn't developed but Silas can get him dev. Great at Arizona) 3. K-Mart(Restricted Free Agent?? You know what K-Mart is about) 4. Antonio McDyess(Is healthy can be a beast and can backup Z or Booz) 5. Stanislav Medvedenko(Full of talent, can be a starter in any club. Be great off the bench)
Carlos Arroyo is cheap I belive, but I think Ollie still will be in his contract next season to, so how shall we afford both? Stephen Jackson is my favorite to get here, he's great on bad teams, need a new team, come to Cavs, they need you, you need them. Keep Battie and get a good backup PF for Boozer, not K-Mart or Sheed, Cavs can't afford to have one of em, so they'll stick to a good, underrated guy, than after he came to Cavs, he will get higher ratings Cavs is good to get suprises in the team, better than anyone else... Paul Silas for coach of the year!
I think if the Cavs keep their #1 that they'll go for a PG. Either Harris or Gordon should be there. I think they'll do all they can to trade Ollie although that could be tough to do. Cleaves will also probably be brought to camp. I'm not sure Arroyo would come here to be a backup since he's starting in Utah. Sura really isn't a true PG. I like him but I don't think he fits what the Cavs need. He's not a reliable, consistent perimeter shooter. The Cavs could use an athletic backup big man. In ranking their needs that would be last on the list. The Cavs need to go after Jackson, Turkoglu or Barry. All would fill needs and shouldn't take huge contracts to sign. Hopefully one can be brought in. I hope the Cavs continue to try to add talent that will be here long term. They can't only go after veterans who will only be here a few seasons. They can play to win now while also keeping an eye on and setting up the franchise for the future and for success in the long term.
List of what to do! 1. Draft smart. Point guard is probably the smartest move if a player at that position is available, who is not a reach. 2. Free Agency. Sign that swingmen shooter we all crave. Defensive abilities preferred. 3. Free Agency. If point guard not drafted, look for point with range on jumper. If we do draft a pg, look at athletic big man for behind Boozer. 4. Coaching. Silas needs at least one decent assistant coach! 5. Let go. Williams is to be cut loose. Dangle Ollie and Newble out, and test the market for Wagner and Battie.

Jameer Nelson is ranked 16th or somethin like that. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">2. Free Agency. Sign that swingmen shooter we all crave. Who would you consider going after with Wagner and Battie?
hmmm.. Wagner and Battie for Milwaukee for Michael Redd? Hometown Favorite?? Redd is an allstar so I doubt it would happen but we can hope. Redd can play SF or SG so it could fit perfect.. Possibly we go for a 3 for 2 or something. Wagner/Battie/Ollie for Michael Redd and a big guy(Kukoc? or KVH?)
hey i'd love to have redd, who wouldn't heck let's get carmelo in here, he'll be our sf of the future edit: man, imagine him and lbj teaming it up like we saw them in the rookies game... EVERY NIGHT !!!

Who would you consider going after with Wagner and Battie</div> I'll sit down when this season ends, when I have some spare time and look at what we could do. Wouldn't mind a Stromile Swift type at power forward, so a deal with other players from Memphis may work. eg Swift and Troy Bell or Dontay Jones for Wags and Swift? Just random thoughts....
I did come up with two reasonable trades to get rid of Ollie. I came up with 2 teams that could use a backup PG pretty badly. Neither is a huge deal but might provide some help where the Cavs need it. The deals work under the salary cap too. Ollie to Rockets for Eric Piatkowski. Rockets had to sign 65 year old Mark Jackson because they did not have a backup PG this season. Piatkowski hasn't really fit there and would give the Cavs a good outside shooter. Ollie to Nets for Aaron Williams. Nets have had to sign FA's who were out of the league this season to play behind Kidd. Williams would give the Cavs an athletic PF-C off the bench. Nets will bring in last year's #1 pick ,PF-C Nenad Kristic, next year so Williams could be odd man out there.
Narl, you are a wise one. I always liked the way Aaron Williams played the game. Perfect foil for Booz. Not so keen this year to pick up Pike as I was last year. Mainly the age issue, but if it freed up Ollie's contract, I'll be in.
ARTICLE <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Cavs focus on improving depth By Brian Windhorst, Beacon Journal staff writer CLEVELAND - The Cavaliers have learned their lesson and done it the hard way. It's made the imperative for the off-season clear: get deeper. Cavaliers coach Paul Silas wants to avoid anything like the 1-11 skid that befell the team after losing Jeff McInnis to injury. "What happened to us will not happen again," Silas said before his team played the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. "We can't fall off the end of the earth if a major player goes down." Silas and general manager Jim Paxson haven't sat down and talked everything out yet. That will come shortly after Wednesday's season finale in New York. But the major issues are clear. Silas wants more shooters and dependable ballhandlers. He's mostly concerned with his offense which tends to stagnate when times get rough. That's happened especially due to weak outside shooting, which allows the opposition to double-team the Cavaliers' post players. The team ranks last in the NBA in 3-point baskets and 3-point shooting percentage. "We need (a guard) to play on a high level," Silas said. "We've got to have some guys to stretch the defense." Other issues that will be addressed before the free-agent signing period are the drafts. The Cavaliers have to decide which eight players to protect in the Charlotte Bobcats expansion draft and what to do with their No. 1 pick in June's NBA Draft. The team might consider trading the pick, especially if they don't move up in the lottery May 26. </div> http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=knig...night&type=lgns
Thanks Karma. Maybe we should give Paxson a call and push for one of these trades and for the signing of Stephen Jackson. Hopefully the Cavs can add the shooter they need and more creative players who can handle the ball.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">No one would want Manu?</div> I would. He would solve a lot of probs for our offense. Can he buckle down and play d?
I'd love to have Manu on the Cavs but I just don't see it happening. The Spurs won't let him go. They worked their salary cap for the sole purpose of having the money available to sign him to a big contract this summer. He would be a great fit but I can't realistically see it.
^^^ I do want Manu KJ. I just see him as an untouchable, as the Spurs will pay him big time. He would be ideal though. Solid defender, great handles and passer, as well as being a Cav killer from down town. Even though he unrestricted free agent, I dont see him moving on IMO.
