<font size="4">Jamal Mashburn</font> http://www.suntimes.com/output/banks/cst-spt-banx02.html <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">*The Cleveland Cavaliers are expected to make a run at New Orleans Hornets forward Jamal Mashburn, who is available and remains a favorite of coach Paul Silas. The main negative is that Mashburn has averaged fewer than 50 games a season, is one of the most injury-prone players in the league and has a contract that pays him $9.3 million next season. The Cavaliers might offer guard Dajuan Wagner and center DeSagana Diop in a deal.</div> http://www.ohio.com/mld/beaconjournal/spor...34636339742ohio <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">? It's hard to know what veteran player the Cavaliers will import to play small forward, but it probably won't be Jamal Mashburn. Many media people assume Mashburn will be high on the Cavaliers' shopping list this summer, but that's doubtful. He played only 19 games because of a bruised knee. In 2001-2002, he missed 42 games because of injuries. He'll be 32 in November, and is probably not at his peak. ? Yes, Silas loved Mashburn when they were together with the Hornets, but the front office knows Mashburn likes to dominate the ball. They don't think it's a good fit here, not with Jeff McInnis and James already established as the two primary ball-handlers in the offense. ? The Cavaliers are researching Atlanta's Steven Jackson (18.1 points), but they are wondering if he will be able to blend with James. They key to the off-season is not just finding talent, but players whose styles will fit in with the rest of the team.</div>

Well, seems as though no one has posted in this thread for a while, so I'll get it going again. Which big men should the Cavaliers be looking at in free agency now? Apparently they are about to sign Robert Traylor to a 1-year, $1.6 million deal, which is reasonable and not a big risk. The Washington Wizards have added 3 free agents in the last week, Anthony Peeler, Michael Ruffin and Samaki Walker, the latter 2 adding some good depth to the Wizards frontcourt. I think the Cavs should be looking to add another big man or 2 after signing Traylor as extra insurance incase Ilgauskas gets hurt. With his ankles being in the best condition of his career, it seems as though injury has been less of a threat, but you can never be sure. Big men seem to be flying off the market as teams are racking them in quickly, so Jim Paxson better start getting on the phone before it's too late.
