<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NEW YORK -- New Jersey Nets interim coach Lawrence Frank will be back with the team next season, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

Frank will have the interim tag lifted after the season, no matter how the Nets do in the playoffs, three anonymous sources told the newspaper.

Team president Rod Thorn also is expected to negotiate a new contract for Frank, according to a source. The team holds an option until June 30 to bring Frank back next season.

Thorn, who has praised Frank's preparation and coaching ability, would neither confirm nor deny the decision.

"As I said before, that will take care of itself," Thorn told the Daily News. "At this time, I'm only thinking of the playoffs, not worried about anything else. I think that is how he looks at it, too."</div>

thats good news after leading a team on a 11 game win streak after taking over for a guy who had lead the nets to two straight nba finals with all that pressure on him was probable what led to this he is also belived to be a coach like van gundy when gundy came out as an assistant under pat riley good news for there future but i think that next year is really the year that frank will be judged on because it will be his first full year

Well deserved, but shocked they didnt wait till after the playoffs to give him a him that type of faith. The playoffs & Finals is where B.Scott made alot of bad decisions. Especially in the Finals when he didnt play Dikembe down the stretches of certain games to guard duncan. Or game 3 where he sat Kerry to long. So I would think Rob thorn would wait to see how coach Franks does in the playoffs.

He deserves it. However, I'm not shocked that they waited until after the playoffs. Let's really see if Frank can coach in the playoffs.

i dont mind bringing him back next year, but im suprised they made it public. im assuming its to give the guys confidence that they are playing for their future coach and not some kind of guy in a suit with an uncertain future. the guy is a smart and very determined coach who is a 'gym rat'. he obviously doesnt have the inside to the game like byron had, but he works that much harder to gain respect which he obviously got from the team. it will be interesting what he does this playoff year and how he trys to improve us for next year. meaning working new guys in(assuming rod is going to wake up this offseason and improve this team) or adding new plays. anyway, i like the guy and glad to see him come back b/c the team likes him and respects him. there is probably only one or two guys that you could have a reason for not bringing frank back next year. those two people would be larry brown and phil jackson. obviously brown is w/det, but phil is at the end of his LA contract, so that is the only person rod can replace frank with w/o there being an uproar

If the players repect him,I respect him.But he is going to have to make alot of smart rotation decisions this year in the playoffs just for the East to stand a chance of getting out of the East. Last year the Nets coaching staff wasnt really tested until the finals. And like I said before they Failed in the finals with alot of their decision making. And coach Franks was apart of that staff. So we will see how he handles the decision making when he is the head man. The playoffs from round one to as far as the Nets go are all going to be extremely close matchups. One bad decision could change the out come.

The Nets possible road back to the finals shapes up like this.
    Round 1
    Knicks

    Round 2
    Pistons

    Eastern Finals
    Pacers.

That might be the hardest road to travel in the east.

i think last yr that byron and the assistants like eddie and mike all had different ways of wanting to handle a certain situation. i also think that byron thought too much about certain situations and didnt just relax and let the players play.

coach frank is a guy that is one pass, shot, rebound, turnover, timeout ahead of the game which is great. he also seems very calm when there has been bigger games. like against indy or la. he doesnt seem to panic or worry about what to do next.

hopefully this will be one of those cinderella things. a lovable coach takes over who looks like he's 13, takes a team to the finals again and actually wins it. iknow im dreaming, but it seems cinderella stories do happen once in a while in history, maybe this could be one of them.of course we are hurting and a healthier team would greatly improve our chances

I agree with throwback. The players are all praises of him so it would really give them more confidence in the playoffs knowing that Frank will be their coach next season. He deserves it.
