    Hype!

Nah I'm playing. Lebron has had a hell of a season, but so has Carmelo. I don't need to read that article to know, it's simple facts. ESPN has however tried to promote Lebron every chance they can get.

You can state all the facts in the world, but Melo has done more for his team. You can't even say that Melo has the better supporting cast, because that isn't the case. Big Z and Boozer are a lot better than Camby and Nene.

I like both players I have followed Carmelo since he was a sophmore in high school and Lebron since his freshman year in high school. i am glad both of them have had great years. i think it goes without qustion lebron had more to live up to coming into the season. and he has surpassed it.

If that article proved anything to me, it's that an assload of people jumped on the LeBron bandwagon.

Nothing will ever convince the haters of LeBrons heavy contributions. No matter how many facts you throw in their face, they'll only ignore it to put there subjective views across as facts. We know the truth!

    LOL

Oh my, theres one of the silliest statements made on this never ending debate.

There's always gonna be ppl's who don't like one paticular individual because that's just the way the world is. Lebron and even MJ can please everybody.

How many people thought he would be this good this early. He does play alot of minutes but that shouldn't take away the numbers he put up this season. If they had the cast they have right now since the beginning of the season, they would've have made the playoffs and even would've been a 4th seed which really isn't to impressive considering the 4th seed is only 2 games over .500. Anyways Melo had is cast from the start, I admit it's a harder conference he's playing in but still James just coming outta HS and being this good already is amazing. Like alot of ppls been saying he has surpassed his hype.

I'm sorry to ask this but did you even read the article??

This article was mostly about how Lebron's financials and how everyone is capitalizing off of it. Thats not really something to be terribly proud of.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Cavaliers figure to cash in even more next year if LeBron and the team continue to be a draw. Before the end of the season, they announced a raise of single-game ticket prices from $1 to $10 each for the 2004-05 season.

Aside from the projected $12 million gross revenue bump in ticket sales, James' presence this year was worth at least an additional $18 million more in other revenues, estimates sports business analyst Hadrian Shaw, author of "Shaw's Pro Basketball Blue Book." </div>

Raising tickey prices?? They are just riding him to a bigger bank and thats not hype, thats capitilization. There is a lot more in this article about how everyone is using this kid to make a dollar. Not something that a Cavs fan would want to boast.

I'm just sayin that this article has nothing to do with hype.

....and it is kind of sad how everyone is just trying to make money off of this kid.

Lebron is good, but he may actually have done more harm than good for the NBA. Highschoolers like Lebron are a big reason why the NBA is losing many fans. Also, the fact a rookie is getting $90 Million from Nike is another reason why the NBA is losing fans. The players are all seen as spoiled whiners. On Lebrons debut on ABC, a Nascar raced got 2X the Nielsen rating then Lebrons game got. Also when you cant lead your team to a .500 record in the East have you really lived up to all the hype?

And as far as attendance is concerned, Freddy Adu of MLS has had an even bigger impact on his league than Lebron. Adu is getting crowds of 25000-30000 in a league that averages about 15000 fans a game.

    Check out this article:
    http://espn.go.com/sportsbusiness/s/2003/1119/1665998.html
For Nike, Adu's potential greater than LeBron James

Nike founder Phil Knight has made no secret of his expectations of Adu. In an interview in early June with a Portland sports radio show, Knight told the hosts that Adu could have a larger impact on Nike than LeBron James, in that Adu could help grow his sport in the United States more than James' could do with his.

Last time I checked, these highschoolers were gaining more fans.

The stream of highschoolers has decreased the level of play and is a big reason why the NBA is losing support among the media & fans.

Its hard to say that because the last time I checked KG came from highschool. So did JO, Lebron, Kobe, T-Mac.....all from highschool. All of these highschool kids are the superstars of todays game, the ones who attract the fans. One of the reasons the NBA declined in attendance and revenue is because of the departure of MJ. Once he left all of the bandwagon fans picked up and left too.

BTW Since Lebron came to the NBA attendance has gone up. He's generating tons of cash for the NBA so I don't see why he is doing more harm than good. I don't think any highschooler has had the impact that Lebron had ever. To say that Freddy Adu's games attract 25000-30000 means nothing. There are a lot more seats in soccer games than in basketball games. You forget to note the fact that Lebron is selling out every seat in every arena he goes to. If that is not amazing I don't know what is.

To say that Lebron does not live up to the hype is an overstatment. This guy faced the hype and ran through it like a cannon ball. If you said in the beginning of the season that Lebron would play for the playoffs and average 20 5 and 5 I would laugh in your face.

To add to CV's statement, soccer is a world-wide most popular sport in the world. All different types of people enjoy watching soccer, where mostly the American public is the NBA viewers.

many people said carmelo should have won the ROY because hes in the playoffs and Lebrons not. but by that reasoning, Wade and Darko should be co-ROY because theyre both still there

The subject here has suddenly changed tho. rox is stating that Highschoolers draw attention away from Basketball. Seems like a good debate.
