Prior to the draft, it was obvious we needed a running back. Most everyone had Stephen Jackson as the top back, followed by Kevin Jones. 3rd through 6th choices were under debate. Jackson was projected to be long gone before the Cowboys pick, but a few though Kevin Jones might still be around to take.

For some odd reason, Jackson fell, and fell...right past the Dallas pick, who traded it away and ended up with Julius Jones. Truth be told, they did try to trade back into the first round again to get Kevin Jones, but the price was too high.

I can't criticize the Cowboys for passing on Jackson yet. Its too early to tell how Jackson and Julius Jones will pan out. However, at this point, there is no reason to assume we didn't make a good decision there. Basically, we traded Jackson for Jones and a first round pick. Not a bad deal at all, considering it is Buffalo's first round pick next year.

Plan A -- Julius Jones starts. Erik Bickerstaff, who has looked good in limited action, is the backup. Rashard Lee also looks promising is also in the mix.

Bickerstaff tears achilles in preseason. Need a power backup, plus we aren't guaranteed Jones will pan out right away.

Plan B -- Julius Jones starts. Eddie George signed to play substantial amount of plays as well.

Jones bruises his ribs right before the season opener and misses it. He plays in game 2, but breaks his shoulder. Out for 8 weeks.

Plan C -- Eddie George starter. Move Richie Anderson to halfback for more plays. Rashard Lee still third until he learns blitz pickups better.

Eddie obviously isn't the go-to guy. Anderson can make some plays, but he isn't your every down back.

Plan D -- ?????? Lee has some major inefficiencies, which I assume is why he is playing little. However, he has certainly run the ball better that George in limited action. I gotta believe Lee starts getting some more chances until Jones is back in action.

I am guessing that there are few second-guessers in Dallas this week. Kevin Jones ran for only 36 yards on 11 carries and four catches for 11 yards against Dallas. I'm guessing Julius Jones could have at least done that too, if healthy.

LOL. As long as you promise not to blitz on Lee's side...or pass rush for that matter.

Actually, I'm happy with Vinny. Yeah, he's thrown 7 picks, but 6 of those were in just two games....games they actually won. In the last game, he threw 3 and 2 were Keyshawns fault.

He's got 9 TDs too, which doesn't get him near the Probowl or anything, but its not much different, if not better, than big names like Bulger, Warner, Vick, Favre, Hasselbeck, Delhomme, McNair, Collins....

well, now that we see what Julius can do, we know who is #1. as long as he is consistent, it is a huge plus. and if he is, then we have found emmitts replacement

and vinny, well im not sure anymore, after the first few days i was happy, but now...not really..i think he should be the starter tho. and as for the INTs, they were forced to Keyshawn. many of them thrown behind, above or into double coverage, now Keyshaw in a good reviever, but he is not randy moss, or TO. so dont expect for him to jump backwards over a DB and catch it with one hand....while stopping mid route.

Being behind makes the QB want to make a play to get his team back in the game, but thats where sometimes it backfires on him. We have been in the tank so much that Vinny takes alot of chances with his throws and pays the price with the picks.

So with only three games in, he becomes the Cowboys leading rusher for the year. At 450 yards and 4 games left, he has a long shot at still hitting 1,000 yards. That's pretty unlikely since they play the Eagles among others, but just the thought is good for next year. Imagine if we would have had this running game all along this year.

If I am the Saints and Eagles (the next two games), I put 8 in the box and dare Vinny to win.

Dude, Eagles D second in the league in scoring. Get over it. They held Bret Favre to 3 points for crying out loud.

Eagles D is number 2 in scoring, and their O is number 3. That's incredible.

Yes, but they are 14th in yards given up vs the run, despite the fact they are up most games and see more passes then runs.

I won't say they will give him a bad game, but I think they will shut him down early.

You're just like Merril Hoge dude. You know, if you pick against the Eagles every week, you will be wrong for the rest of the season.

And screw the run defense, 14th is not that bad. That means that 18 teams are worse then we are. I look at points, and us and the Pats are the only teams in the league in top 5 in both Offensive and Defensive scoring per game. Take that sucka [IMG]

Your defense of the defense is that 18 teams are worse against the run? You know what heppens to teams that struggle to stop the run when they get to teh playoffs and play a close game? They tend to lose....not saying it will happen, but I would damn worried if I was an eagles fan....mostly because of my blindness, but also because of the run defense....

Name ONE team in the NFC that can run the ball well enough to do what you said, AND also be able to stop us from scoring points. Also, since Trotter has been our starting middle LB, our run defense has performed much better. I feel bad for you and BF1, pretty soon when our run defense enters top 10, I only wonder what other chinks in the eagles armor you are going to be looking for. I can see this now.

Last game of the season, Eagles - Bengals. Eagles are 14-1 and clinched the division and the homefield and they go on and lose the game. Next day "BF1 and TheBeef: McNabb always chokes, can't play in a big game, how can you lose to the Bengals. He is the worst QB ever, horrible plain horrible."

Oh yes, I can see that now.

More likely scenario:Eagles run the table to NFC title game, Carolina Panthers come from 1-7 all the way to 9-7 to make the playoffs, win in the wild card round, the divisional round, go back to Philly and beat the Eagles again.....BF1 and TheBeef become heroes when they talk several Eagles fans off of ledges in center city....Eagles fans take new found sight they aquired from BF1 and TheBeef and use it to help other Eagles fans get through the trying period....

Even more likely scenario. The Dolphins realize what a mistake they made by firing Dave Wannstedt. They rehire him to a new "lifetime" contract, where he has complete controll over player personell. Dave goes on to get Ricky Williams reinstated, and David "roid-boy" Boston gets ready for the season. Also, the great Jay Fiedler is once again pronounce the stater, and is signed to a long term contract, and is considered now the frachise QB. Then I come down to Dolphin land and talk all the dolphin fans from joining Al Quada to learn how to kill Tephlon Dave. Thereby capturing Al Quada operatives, and saving US from them. Yes, I can totally see that happening. In the meantime, Eagles are getting ready to repeat as Super Bowl champs in 2005 [IMG]
