This question has been posed to me on a few occasions, seeing that I am from Australia. But I too am curious as to why you guys follow the wine and gold? Especially my fellow foreigners! Are you from Clevelandor the surrounds, hense the hometown thing? Is your cousin Mark Price or Austin Carr your uncle? Or are you just a sucker for punishment? I think I am the latter. Sucker for punishment. Like the Browns, two of my sporting teams were axed, but have since reformed, but like the Cavs of previous seasons, are cellar dwellars. So this start of a resurgence is really exciting to me as I have a huge thirst for success bulit up over many losses. Why am I a Cavs fan? Really dont know why! I have always liked basketball as a kid, but the NBA was a little out of reach when I was a youngin. I do remember at around 10 (1988-89) my mate had a bball computor game, for which I for some reason chose Cleveland. Maybe it was because they were a good team to use with Price, Daugherty and co. But from that my interest grew big time by the start of the 90's. So I experienced the painful Daugherty injuries, the stay of Gerald Wilkins, and my personal fave, John Battle. They were the days. And they are returning. Anyhow, why are you a Cavs fan?
Growing up we didn't have cable TV. My father was/is a huge Cavs fan. He would take me to my grandfathers house to watch the games on Sports Channel. Everyone used to be there and it was the only reason I went. Being there so much got me to follow the Cavs ever since. When my father watched it was the Richfield era. Being so young and only cared about Ninja Turtles, I missed all those magical moments. The 1st time I started to follow the Cavs was Mark Price's last year with Daugherty sidelined the whole season along with Gerald Wilkens. It was the Chris Mills/Bobby Phills/Terrell Brandon era that took over my interest. My all time favorite trio.
I live in just outside of DC but i am still a Cavs fan. I used to only like them because of LeBron, since I have been a fan of his for like 4 years but over the past months i have become more of a Cavs fan because I have started liking all the players on the team.
So why are you a Cavalier fan Norway? Very curious also how a fellow non-american is behind this previously uncool team to follow!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting DajuanWagner#2:</div><div class="quote_post">Juice, do you remember how I became a Cavs fan? </div> I think he saw Ricky Davis play in either a High School game or a College game (where did he go to college anyway?) Ever since then he's been hooked. I was born in Michigan, but moved here when I was 5 and have been living here for 23 years almost (damn!). I just feel that you should root for your hometown team, and since I was raised here I consider Cleveland my home. I just love seeing that "Cleveland" on the front of our jerseys, wether its the Indians or the Cavs or.........wait, the Browns jerseys don't say Cleveland, do they. Well, errybody know where dey come from. I'll be a Clevelander the rest of my life, even if I move. "THIS IS CLEVELAND, THIS IS MY TOWN, THIS IS MY TEAM, AND I'M PROUD TO SAAAAAAY, HEY!" OK, that was corny. Seriously, I love this city and everything about it (almost). Especially my sports teams. Win or lose, I'm a Cleveland fan 4 life!
I love Cleveland it's my home city and I'm proud to be a fan of the Cavs and the Browns.. Note: I didnt say the Indians because i'm a Yankees Fan!! Yeah I said it!!
You Clevelanders should get together and chew the fat sometime. I always wondered whether on some sports forums, the posters met up. Plenty in common to talk about is suppose. Anyway, we'll continue to be discreet.
I am a Cavs fan because I love Clevelenad and this is a Cleveland team. So that is the main reason I'm a big fan of Cleveland.
