I originally posted this in just the Celtics Forum, but thought people might enjoy trying it for other Series as well. <font size="1"><font color="Red">(Someone told me there are other teams playing besides the Celtics.)</font></font> So, name the Series and then <u>Please list who you think will win the following:</u> 1. Series MVP :king: 2. Defensive MVP - for both teams 3. Breakout Performance Award - Otherwise known as the <font color="Blue">"Someone told me it was time to start playing better, so I did"</font> Award. 4. The Highlight Film Award - Who's going to make the crowd come to thier feet with big plays! 5. Wish He had Stayed Home Award - going to the player who made the biggest impact, in the wrong way. :thumbsdow Enjoy!
Denver@Minnesota Winner Minnesota Series MVP: Kevin Garnett Defensive MVP: Trenton Hassell Breakout Award: Wally Szczerbiak Highlight Film: Kevin Garnett Stay home award: Tough call, but I'll say Earl Boykins. He's played good agianst the Wolves, so I think they'll try to keep him contained the whole series.
Knicks vs Nets Series MVP- Richard Jefferson. With Jason Kidd & Kenyon Martin still fighting to get 100%. RJ is going to have to be the guy to step up & carry the Nets in the Half court inorder for the Nets to get pass this round. Defensive MVP-K-Mart(Nets)-Martin is going to have to hold down the boards while fighting guys like Mohommad, Baker, Mutombo & Thomas. And he going to have to limit the offensive output of Baker & Thomas. Dikembe(knicks)- In the 2nd matchup this season where Mutombo was healthy he really held down the paint blocking alot of the Nets shot when they penetrated. He almost set a knicks record for blocks in a game(he had 10). The knicks are going to need some of the same from him throughout the series on Nets back door cuts. And alots of rebounds if the are going to win the series Breakout Star-Richard Jefferson. For all the reasons I stated before. We all know RJ for his spectaclur open court play but I think after this series people are going to view him as a more complete player. Highlight Film Award- Kenyon Martin. Even on a gimpy knee we are going to see K-mart complete some exciting Dunks & defensive plays. Wish they stayed at the crib award- Tim Thomas. He is already a hih turnover forward. I think he going to make some costly turnovers. His shakey jump shooting is going to start alot of Nets fastbreaks. And if RJ gives the knicks a workout, alot of it will be against Tim Thomas..
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Breakout Award: Wally Szczerbiak</div> That would be a break out. He hasn't done jack, in seems like,... forever. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Defensive MVP: Dikembe(knicks)- </div> Interesting pick. I'd like to see him have one more really good series before he's done and let's face it, if it helps upset the NETS, then I'm all for it.
Indiana and Boston 1. Series MVP: Jermaine Oneal. This kid is going to eat up the Celtics front court for brunch. There is no one player that can match up with JO in Boston. Yah you heard me, NO ONE. 2. Defensive MVP - for both teams: Ron Artest and Paul Pierce- This will be the matchup to watch. I think Paul Pierce is still mad about Ron Ron tryin to pull his pants off and they will get down and dirty. I love the way how both players play defence and offence so this will be a beautiful matchup. 3. Breakout Performance Award: I'm looking at Marcus Banks to play a very important roll with Boston in terms of penetrating the lane for easy baskets, getting out on the break and pushing the ball. If he can utilize his quickness to his advantage and cut down on turnovers I can see him as the catalyst of the series. But if he acts like a rookie you will see a lot more of Dana Barros walk the ball up the court. 4. The Highlight Film Award: I think the majority would say Fred Jones (being in the dunk contest and all) or Ricky Davis but I think this award is going to Jonathan Bender. I would not be surprised to see him dunk on three people at once in this series. 5. Wish He had Stayed Home Award - Ricky Davis. This was tough but I think Ricky's first playoff will be a horrible one. He's the type of player to either play one hell of a game for you, or totally stink up the joint. I think he will produce the latter Indiana wins this one 4-3
Nice synopsis CourtVision. Thanks! <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There is no one player that can match up with JO in Boston. Yah you heard me, NO ONE.</div> I wish I could argue that, but I don't think I can. P.S. - I hope you're wrong about Ricky.
Paul Pierce is a given to bring it every night, while Ricky has been doing it in the regular season but come playoff time we all know its a different story. What are your thoughts on the series?
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What are your thoughts on the series?</div> Celtics in 7. Pierce and Artest going at each other will probably be good entertainment. JO will get his against our post players. (whoever they end up being for this series) Personally I'd like to see Mihm and Blount in the post, with Hunter and Waltah rotating in. I believe that Indy has no one who can stop Davis' dribble penetration and Pull up Jumper and hope they play a large role in our success. I believe Davis, not the pg's are the wildcard for us. I'm not concerned with Ricky not showing up to play or playing selfishly, because the latter hasn't been evident all season and this is primetime and Ricky's all about that
o well...celtics have kinda little chance...toronto getting steve nash is a better chance then boston beating indiana...nothing against the celtics of course...except the fact that they beat the celtics too many times...
The Celtics have actually upset the Pacers in a playoff series before so I don't see why it can't happen again. The regular season means jack in the playoffs.
Denver Nuggets Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves 1. Series MVP Kevin Garnett 2. Defensive MVP Trenton Hassell 3. Breakout Performance Award - Michael Olowakandi 4. The Highlight Film Award - Sprewell, I got a feeling about this one. 5. Wish He had Stayed Home Award - Don't know.
Lakers @ Houston 1. Series MVP - Kobe 2. Defensive MVP - Payton will hold Francis down, I promise taht 3. Breakout Performance Award - Derek Fisher will realize that he needs to play big 4. The Highlight Film Award - Kobe 5. Wish He had Stayed Home Award - Yao Ming....He is going to get embarass by Shaq..atleast I hope...this is the Playoffs, Shaq is going to come out and dominant almost as much as Kobe will
Trenton Hassell? This guy can't guard a lamp post...what are you thinking???? I'm playing, Trenton Hassell is definately one of my most favourite defenders in the NBA (next to Ron Ron). He will force Carmelo to put up 15 points a game on 20 shots. Book it.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Breakout Performance Award - Michael Olowakandi</div> Don't follow the team that much in terms of viewing, but judging by his crap stats all season that I kept abreast on through fantasy leagues, I'd have to say that Minny fans would welcome him coming out of the coma.
Q Rich3 5. Wish He had Stayed Home Award - Yao Ming <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">He is going to get embarass by Shaq..<font color="DarkRed">atleast I hope</font>.</div> Nice cover with that disclaimer of "I hope".
Lakers vs. Rockets Series MVP: Shaquille O'Neal Defensive MVP: Gary Payton & Yao Ming Breakout Award: Kobe Bryant Highlight Film: Kobe Bryant Stay home award: Steve Francis. He's been doing okay in the season, but I think he'll be bad in this series.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting hagrid:</div><div class="quote_post">Don't follow the team that much in terms of viewing, but judging by his crap stats all season that I kept abreast on through fantasy leagues, I'd have to say that Minny fans would welcome him coming out of the coma. </div> offensively he has been crap all year, but since his second come back from injury he has been playing good D and grabbing boards of the bench really good, so I think hes going to dominate the paint in this upcoming series. Hes never been to the playoffs, so he might choke because of it. But he might also use it as a stage to prove he is at least capable of being worthy of that #1 selection. At the very least, he won't play with the total lack of energy he often does in the regular season. Its the playoffs and if you can't get excited for that you might as well crawl in a whole and die right now.
Series: San Antonio Vs. Memphis winner: San Antonio Series MVP: Who do you think?! Tim Duncan Defensive MVP: Bruce Bowen, guarding any guard. If you can D-Up kobe, you can d-up anyone. Breakout award: Hedo Turkoglu, i just think that with some double downs on Tim Duncan that he can knock down that three, he'll bust out Highlight Film: Emmanuel Ginobili, he's crazy and so fun to watch Stay at home award: Pau Gasol, you can't play with Tim Duncan, just give up Now, basically everything that's good went to the Spurs, because i think they're clickin', everywhere, they've finished out the season real strong. Memphis is too inexperienced, but will give the Spurs there fair of troubles with that deep rotation. But still Spurs take it in 5
Sacramento - Dallas Series MVP - Dirk Nowitzki Defensive MVP - Dallas: Can you really give someone on Dallas a defensive award? Sacramento - Doug Christie or Chris Webber Breakout performance award - Chris Webber(he's been playing so bad but you know what he's capable of) The Highlight film award - This game will be full of highlights, but I'm going for Steve Nash who should come up with some nice fast break assists. Wish he had stayed home award - Antoine Walker
LA Lakers Vs. Houston Rockets 1. Series MVP Kobe Bryant 2. Defensive MVP Shaq - with all the Rebounds and Blocks 3. Breakout Performance Award - Kobe Bryant, I have a feeling hes gonna come out big. 4. The Highlight Film Award - Kareem Rush, hes gonna make so many big threes. 5. Wish He had Stayed Home Award - Yao Ming, hes just gonna get pumeled by Shaq.
