<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Chris Ford threw his hat in the ring yesterday as a candidate to become the full-time coach of the 76ers. We think. But even last night, after meeting earlier in the day with president/general manager Billy King, Ford - the interim coach for the final 30 games of the just-completed season after replacing the fired Randy Ayers - Ford was not ready to publicly offer a definitive stance on his situation. Asked whether he is a candidate, Ford said, "I think so." </div> Full Story.
I think Billy King and co are simply being courteous at this point by even insenuating that he is a candidate to take over the job sans the interim tag.
i think he should stay(if we dont get mo cheeks) sixer coach, because he is what ai needs. i really think a coach like ayers didn't do a good job when it comes to team chemistry, because he let ai do what he wanted, which led to a situation where ai thought he could allow everything and the rest of the team had to follow the rules this isn't a good situation 4 a TEAM. chris ford made it clear, that the rules are equal for ALL! thats the only way to help building team spirit. btw: coach brown was also not always ai's best friend but he really helped him becoming a better player and only that way philly was successful!
I think he's a candiate. But before Billy can remove the interm tag. He better try to get Mo Cheeks, Jim O'Brien or Byron Scott. If he can't aquire niether of them. Chris Ford would be our only option. Which Im not too happy about. But I HIGHLY doubt that he will be the coach next seaosn. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">IMO, Chris Ford did a GREAT job when taking over for Ayers. It was Iverson who made him look bad.</div> I wouldnt say GREAT. But OKAY. If he was there from the beginning, I think the Sixers would have most likely win at least 5+ extra games or so.
I dont think AI is very fond of Coach Ford, AI said they have little communication .The reason things got better between AI and Larry Brown is because Larry Browon sat AI down and talked to him like a professional basketball coach is suposed to do.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kvh4fan:</div><div class="quote_post">It's better than Ayers' record. And Ford bought in dicipline. Something Ayers lacked.</div>sugar coat it all you want, a 12-18 record hardly qualifies as great.
I'm not only talking about the record. I'm talking about everything he did. He gave the rookies more time, he bought dicipline in, etc.

Since JO is the new coach, I heard on TV that they will offer Ford a staff coaching job or something like that.
Ford's position hasn't named yet. He won't be the head assistant coach. Jim said he's bringing someone he had with him in Boston to be the assistant if he can. Billy said... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">?I?d first like to start off by saying, I?d like to thank Chris Ford and his staff and the job that they did,? King began. ?It was a difficult time they stepped in, and I want to thank him for his time. I appreciate it and before you ask the question, Chris will be a part of our organization and he and I will meet later to discuss that.? </div>
