"This is a very positive day for the Boston Celtics," said Grousbeck. "It resolves a cloud of uncertainty and enables us to move forward. And it resolves some financial obligations that we might have had, if our termination was not upheld. I'm very happy about how it's all been resolved. I also want to compliment Vin Baker's representatives for making an effort and joining in the settlement of this dispute. They did a good job. And the players association and the league have also signed off on the deal. All four parties came together [Thursday] in New York and got the deal done. "The Celtics want to wish Vin the best and hope that we will see him in the Eastern Conference finals. He's a good person. He's had a difficult road to this point. I hope he finds the strength, continues to find the strength, to recover, and we wish him the very best." The exact numbers won't be available until this years salaries become public domain, but because this was a settlement, It's likely not going to help Boston much in terms of Cap Relief for the 04' offseason.
I heard this and it's disappointing. I thought Vin would accept the termination of his contract after once again breaking his agreement with the Celtics and drinking again, but I guess not. The trade to get Vin has brought about just about all the changes the Celtics have made since their ECF matchup with the Nets, and finally the Baker era is over in Boston
