Even Cohan is taking a chance in hiring guys who do not have much experience (I think Higgins and Elie actually have experience and Elie won a ring or two with the Rockets and maybe the Spurs?) how much worse could it be than what we have already seen with "experienced" guys like St. Jean (probably great guy but horrible GM), Carlesimo, Twardzik, Adelman (see he is a good coach)?

I think that he means that Mullin will be not only the head of basketball operations, but also the GM, unless or until he decides to hire a GM under him (that's an option he has-but I doubt he will).

I think Mullin taking over will show some positive signs for this club because of his basketball smarts and the fact players will respect him because he was part of the original dream team, a 5 time NBA allstar and a model of great work ethic and basketball fundamentals. His newly appointed position sounds like he is more powerful than a GM, which is good since Mullin can strike the balance between being a businessman and a guy who understands basketball. I trust him with trades better than I trust St. Jean. We'll see if he becomes Danny Ainge or Jerry West.

On the other hand, does this really solve all the problems Warriors fans have felt about the franchise? I mean this could get everyone's hopes up because the major problem lies at the very top with owner Chris Cohan and guys like Robert Rowell mouthing off about underachieving and not Gary St. Jean so much. At least the warriors owner is becoming more visible than he was the last few years, so maybe that could be a sign things are turning around and that he's getting less death threats. I don't know, it's hard to tell with the Warriors. Could all of this news just be for PR publicity purposes only or could this mean real big positive changes? I have faith that Chris Mullin will do great and all, but it doesn't change who gets the final say (The guy at the top who has all the money and power to sign/not sign someone). Hopefully Cohan will just do whatever Mullin tells him to do and that Mullin continually makes good moves and dosen't make any bad moves that will cost him his job. For Sharks fans, remember GM Dean Lombardi? Okay, I don't think Mullin will ever do that much damage.
