On the radio a few days ago, I heard Blount has told his agent to look into possibly becoming a 76er and join OB. I don't know about the Sixers cap situation, but even if he doesn't go to the 76ers I don't see him returning to the Celtics next season
I haven't seen Blount play once in my life,I don't know could he play PF,but if he can't I don't see him getting much minutes behing Jackson,Dalembert and Coleman(problably gone before next season).
Blount is a much better player than Coleman and Jackson and is a much better defender and rebounder than Dalembert
I dont think that Blount is going to get much minutes in Philly, Sammy D is a up and coming star while Jackson is allstar caliber defender. If he does go ot philly he will be coming off the bench.
Two words, Samuel Dalem-Bizzle. Samuel Dalembert is a rising star in this league, granted starting minutes his potential is simply unlimited. He's a great shot blocker, he's a great rebounder, and he's still young, thus The 76ers aren't looking for a replacement. Mark Blount apperantly wants to leave Boston for the money. That's money that The 76ers wouldn't be dishing out for a guy who likely wouldn't even start. Perhaps Blount would be interested in joining the team to once again reunite with Jim O'Brian, but other than that nothing is leading me to believe this signing would infact go down. The money isn't there and the minutes aren't there so it seems to me like a long shot.
I dont know what to say. Since Coleman is most likely going leave Philly..Blount and Mark Jackson wouldnt be a bad back up front court for Samuel Dalembart and Kenny Thomas. I like it. I just hope it goes down.
I havent seen him play much, but from what I've seen he is a pretty solid player he would be a nice addition off the bench for the Sixers.
Blount weighs future options <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">It made for quite a sight - the always well-tailored Mark Blount [news] with a dark plastic trash bag slung over his left shoulder. The bag's contents may be all that's left between the Celtics center and the home locker room at the FleetCenter. He'll clean out his practice locker today, fly to Florida to join his fiancee and young son at their home 15 miles outside Miami, and begin tossing steaks on the grill. Odds have the impending free agent, one of the most improved centers in the league, either joining the Heat, his local team, or Philadelphia now that former Celtics coach and major Blount advocate Jim O'Brien [news] has taken over the Sixers. </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">``We expect to re-sign him,'' said Danny Ainge, who wasn't one of Blount's bigger supporters until the 7-footer started putting up regular double-doubles over the second half of the season. </div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Celtics, like the Heat and Sixers, have a $4.5 million mid-level exception to spend this summer. If Ainge does indeed want Blount, that's the price they will most likely have to pay. Blount also indicated yesterday, however, that money wouldn't be the determining factor in his decision. All things being equal, a young, winning team like the Heat - 15 minutes from his doorstep, no less - might prove more to his liking. </div>
This would be a great addition to the 76ers, and maybe a great loss to the Celtics, but that is the Celtics' fans opinion. I think Blount, seeing him play twice, is a very solid big-man, a great in the paint scorer and rebounder. He is easily a better rebounder than Derrick Coleman and Marc Jackson, but Dalembert has a .4 edge statistic wise, but lets say they (Mark and Samuel) are equal. Having Mark Blount (7.2 rpg), Samuel Dalembert (7.6 rpg) and Kenny Thomas (10.1 rpg) would make in-the-paint gameplay incredible for Philadelphia. I am hoping that Mark will join the 76ers next season looking at this.
<font color="DarkGreen">As a Celtic fan, here's what I think:</font> Blount is a servicable Center. Skills Breakdown:(other C's fan, feel free to jump in here) He's got average footwork. Below average post moves. Not much of an offensive repetior and is largely dependant on teammates to keep him invloved. Below average hands, even for a big man. Put it where he can easily catch it or expect a turnover. Good mid-range jumper. He does run the floor decently. He does have average to above average shot blocking skills. Defense is average (at best, IMO). He's worth the MLE, but nothing more. He has a desire to work hard and that alone will make him a commodity, given that he's a 7 fter. However, he's got alot of bad habits that need to be broken, like always spinning to the middle(where the helpside defense is) and not finishing strong near the hole, which can be infuriating when you consider the man barely has to jump to dunk. All in all, he's a decent guy off the bench, assuming he can be had for the MLE. However, he's not someone I would want starting full time, particularly since he pretty much disappeared during the playoffs. Although I'm not sure you can hold that against him this year, as most of the Celtics did the same. That last comment does reinforce what I aluded to earlier, which is that if the other guys on the team don't play well on offense, neither will Mark Blount, because he can't make his own offense for the most part.

He is kind or reminds me of Tony Battie from a few seasons ago. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Right now, everything is running through my head. looks like a good rundown of the man - doesn't do anything exceptionally well but does work hard. Its sad really, his attitude makes all his hard work less respectable. I mean, if he had embraced the town of Boston despite his feelings towards management, he'd be a cult hero larger than even McCarty. We'd put up with his stone hands, we'd give him a lot of leash, and we'd likley applaud management for overpaying him and be happy with 12 pts. and 9 rebounds a game over the next few years. Shoot, that's all we wanted from Vin. Now he's out the door and off to prove to the world what a big-shot he is. Part of me feels bad for him. On the other hand, he'll be close to his family in Florida and either way he'll make millions, so I can't feel too bad for him. See ya big guy.
Blount wouldn't want to go to the Sixers because he's going to have less playing time behind Dalembert.
