    Memphis, Tennessee, April 23, 2004 ? Memphis Grizzlies President of Basketball Operations Jerry West was named as 2003-04 NBA Executive of the Year by Sports Illustrated, the magazine announced in their issue dated April 26 arriving on newsstands now.
    Sports Illustrated selected West among the six award recipients named by the magazine, which includes MVP (Minnesota?s Kevin Garnett), Rookie of the Year (Denver?s Carmelo Anthony), Defensive Player (Detroit?s Ben Wallace), Sixth Man (San Antonio?s Manu Ginobili), Most Improved (Portland?s Zach Randolph), and Coach (Utah?s Jerry Sloan). The publication also announced the 15 players chosen as SI?s All-NBA Teams. Last season, Grizzlies point guard Jason Williams was selected as SI?s 2002-03 Most Improved Player. </div>

    congratualtions to jerry. There was no doubt in my mind that he would have gotten it this year. He was one (with hubie) of the people in the grizzlies organization to turn the franchise to playoff contenders, once again, congratualtions.

    I am impressed with all of the picks made by SI. They didn't go with the big names like the NBA did. Emanuel Ginobili, Carmello Anthony, Jerry Sloan,... good picks.
