<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"There has been some strong discussions in my office about Orlando," Stern told a group from the Associated Press Sports Editors organization. "I'm not saying it's something that needs to be addressed today or tomorrow, but it definitely needs to be addressed." The Magic have had numerous discussions with both city and county officials in recent years, trying to find a way to finance a new downtown arena. The Magic believe they need an arena that can provide the moneymaking amenities that most other teams have.</div> Full Story Well I'm glad Stern finally addressed the issue of a new arena. Orlando has one of the oldest, crappiest arenas in the league, and they desperately need a new one. The question is, how? After this terrible season, no one will be willing to fork over the millions it costs to build one.
hm Possibly more "Moving the team" rumors. Places like Tampa / St. Pete might work. Not to likely but if so, I just pray the dont move to far.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PS11:</div><div class="quote_post">they should move to Canada!!!!!! Edmonton particulary..... that would be awesome.</div> Nah , London , Ontario that way I won't have to move to O-ToWn after college hehehe.
I hate Tampa , how does that sound? Tampa Magic? lol that really sucks , I hope they stay in O-ToWn and don't be dissin the Old G TD
TD Waterhouse is the best arena.. Come on now..what is the benefit of a new arena..the only thing it would help is the owners of the team..they would just make more money by selling VIP suites in the lower bowl..and it'll take away so many good seats that are more affordable than they would be if we got a new arena... right now..even if you sit in upper bowl..the view is good..the only thing you can complain about should be the space..it's a little crammed but so what?? as long as the game is exciting..there is nothing to complain about.. if we want a new arena..we need to have a winning season and sell out.. btw.. This is a direct quote from one of the high level workers @ T.D. Waterhouse. I heard him directly at a meeting. "The Orlando Magic would move to Tampa before the City Of Orlando pays for a new arena." thats kinda discouraging so I hope we can keep it in Orlando... I wouldn't mind an arena in Disney but I'd really like it to be in the same place it is right now...its at max 20-30 minutes from anywhere in the orlando area... its the heart of the city...what more do you guys need? i wouldn't go to many games if it was in the i-drive/tourist area
Believe me guys, the Magic are going to get a new arena in Orlando...just not anytime in the immediate future. The TD Waterhouse Centre isn't that crappy, it's the fact that it's so small that hurts. The reason lies behind the league suggesting that teams build smaller arenas to promote a more fan friendly atmosphere in the NBA. That ideal later went by the wayside a good 5 years after the Magic built their arena, now they build the arenas huge in comparison.
Rich Devos net worth is $2.4 bil. http://www.forbes.com/maserati/billionaire...datatype=Person The city of Orlando will, hopefully, never finance a new arena. Why should hard working citizens, barely making ends meet, pay for a new building? For a billionaire none the less!! ps. I still see NORENA bumper stickers every now and again.
I've been to two games at the T.D. Waterhouse (Rockets & Mavs), which they both lost, of course. Despite that, I did notice that the arena was pretty small compared to other places. A new arena would be great, but for a franchise like this that just hit rock bottom, it wouldn't be the best timing.
