<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Regarding O'Brien, Ainge said, "The coaching change? I don't take responsibility for having the coach walk out. I didn't do anything to have him walk out other than I existed. There wasn't a person who existed in my position before. The responsibility is mine for some of the things that happened. But it's still a players' job to play." (O'Brien, when told of the comments, did not want to respond.) Ainge did praise O'Brien as a good coach Ainge wishes had not ended up in Philadelphia. But he said he didn't agree with O'Brien's approach, namely, to win as many games as possible. "Obie was a coach that I have a great deal of admiration for to this day," Ainge said following the Celtics' season-ending, 90-75 loss to the Pacers at the FleetCenter. "I'm not happy he's going to Philly because I think he's a very good coach. But, I think [O'Brien and his staff] came in with the design to win every single basketball game." And that ran counter to Ainge's plan to develop the younger players at the expense of taking a few knocks along the way. Ainge has been consistent all season with his "lose the battle but win the war" outlook and repeatedly said he was not worried about results from this year. That can be a hard sell to a coach.</div>http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/ce..._on_the_future/ Okay if you don't want your coach to get your team ready to win every game then what are you paying him for? To teach the youngsters and be forced to give them time when they don't deserve it? Thats a hard thing to ask a coach after he's been to the playoffs the past two years to just try and stop winning. Talk about trying to tank your season.....
Once again, the voice of reason has to intercede. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Okay if you don't want your coach to get your team ready to win every game then what are you paying him for? </div> Danny's comment speak to the fact that OB consistantly sacrificed player and team development at the behest of winning game now, and thus hurting the team in the future, which was in fact the case. OB wanted to win every game and there's nothing wrong with that, except, when it comes at the expense of the teams future. No young player development ever purposely happened under O'Briens leadership, with the exception of Bremmer, who's pg play was forced on O'Brien because of injuries. The team was forced to play OB-3ball and a post fronting defense under his tenure. Neither are encouraged for any team looking past the game at hand. Please, if you guys want to bash Ainge, just come out and make an " I don't like Danny Ainge" Thread and we'll make it a dedicated thread. I could at least deal with that better than coming into the forum to read random threads directly saying or alluding to our GM being a moron.
Actually this was an article not a post. Is there something wrong with posting this? I also held myself back from saying he was a moron this time. Obrien just didn't go along with Danny's plan, which ultimately led to his resignation. I don't think any coach wants to be told who he has to play. His #1 goal is to win and thats not what Danny wants right now. Developing his young players and playing for the lottery = deliberately trying to tank the season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Lmfao, Danny Ainge is such a knob.</div> <font color="DarkRed">I was more refering to that comment, which has absolutely no substance to it what-so-ever. </font> I obviously don't agree with your comments Courtvision (and I think we've already covered that ground, so I won't rehash it), but at least your comments had some intelligence attached to them. The above is the stuff that trolls are made of and is not going to help attract other Celtic fans to come to this forum. I'll intelligently debate with you until the cows come home Courtvision, despite the fact that when it comes to the C's, we see almost nothing the same way. That's the stuff message boards are created for. However, I simply can't stomach dealing with those who chose to simply drop innane comments, with nothing to back them up, rather than take the time to post something that resembles content that can be debated. How are those interested in posting intelligent content supposed to respond to the above post? There's only 2 ways I can think of: 1. We don't respond at all. This is nice for the "taking the high road" theory, but then leaves the comment uncontested on the board for everyone visiting to see. 2. "No, Danny Ainge isn't a knob"........Doesn't exactly speak well, does it? Last I checked, this site was about quality. I hope that some posters here see my comments and rethink thier posting style, because there are far too many, IMO, who could really use an introspective moment into how they post. My apologies if I've offended anyone with this post. I read comments from posters everyday in the Members Union about how the site could be made better. Well, what I've just mentioned is one of them and although it was perhaps presented harshly, it's still on point. We all have our bad days and I'm hoping that the comment by carmelo15 is just that: Part of a bad day, where someone succumbed to simply being lazy, rather than it being an example that they put forth on a regular basis. Here's hoping.
