There seems to be a lot of elite point guards in the playoffs, and a lot of them are stepping up. Tony Parker (in 4 games): 21.0 Points 52.7% from the field 8.5 Assists 2.0 Rebounds 1.0 Steals 3.25 Turnovers Steve Francis (in 4 games): 20.0 Points 45.4% from the field 8.25 Assists 8.25 Rebounds 1.5 Steals 4.25 Turnovers Jason Kidd (in 4 games): 17.0 Points 42.9% from the field 9.0 Assists 6.5 Rebounds 2.25 Steals 5.0 Turnovers Then you have: Stephon Marbury Sam Cassell Gary Payton Steve Nash Mike Bibby Andre Miller Baron Davis I only posted the stats of the three guys I thought have had the most impressive numbers so far. Of course, numbers arent everything. So who is it?
Tony Parker for me. He's been a real factor, I really love Kidd, and also his all out overall game wasn't really affected by his injury. Tony Parker could mean the difference as to whether they go far in the playoffs, his current skill, potential and awesome speed will kill many other PG's including "The Glove." I feel only B Dizzle and Kidd will give him any serious trouble. The playoffs basically will depend on how well their PG's do for them. Providing for themselves and for the team. Tony Parker does just that. I can't believe Francis averaged so many boards and assists for once, that turnover statistic is no surprise to me though. But I'm proud he's finally not hogging it, although that suggests he was being too fancy again.
Tony Parker has played great, so I'd say him...plus his team swept... 2nd, Steve Francis, followed closely by Sam Cassell...Francis played admirably despite being in the playoffs for the first time and having NO consistent help (Yao??? Where'd ya go??)
I didn't realize how good Tony was playing and the fact they the Grizz which is more impressive then the Knicks I would have to go with Tony Parker too. 52.7% from the field, that's John Stocktonish.
I think it's been Jason Kidd overall. His shooting and scoring numbers aren't as good as Parkers, but, his assists and rebounding are each higher. Plus, he played pretty good defense, but, that's expected. Only bad thing is the turnovers. The low field goal percentage I'd think is expected from Kidd cause he's not a good shooter.
Chauncey Billups: 18.2 PPG 7.2 AST 1.8 REB 1.6 STL 1.8 TO 39.73% FG 92.3% FT 33.33% 3PT While i don't think Chauncey's has been playing the best of the PG's, i think he's been solid. With a 4:1 assist to turnover ratio (better than Parker, Francis and Kidd), i think he's worth mentioning. edit: with some more stat digging, i came up with this: Through the first round, Chauncey has maintained a 4:1 assist to turnover ratio. Among those who have assist/to ratios close to Billups, no one can touch his 18.2 PPG.
