^I bet he is doing just that. In order for the Spurs to win this, Bowen will need to play the D he always plays. Nobody gets Kobe frustrated more than Bowen.

This is a really slow game so far with both teams feeling each other out.

What a game so far. I have waited for this match up for a while.

Tony Parker is coming to life...not a good sign for Payton and company.

    12-12 midway through the first.

The lakers are just turning the ball over too much and they really need to pace themselves and not get into a race with San Antonio or they will most definitely lose this game.

Damn, Spurs by 7 by a Tony Parker buzzer shot. 14 points in a quarter for the Lake show. Bad start after they jumped out to a 5 or 7 point lead in the beginning.

Wow, Spurs close the quarter on a 16-2 run. The Spurs looked a little rusty coming out but are now firing on all cylinders. Not a good sign for the Lakers.

For those who thought Kobe would be able to guard Parker, I think Parker showed he cant on that sick cross over that left Kobe in the dust.

    21-14 Spurs after 1.

I wonder how long the Lakers will attempt to guard Duncan one on one. Malone is getting eaten up on the block.

Luckily for the Lakers the Spurs are shooting worse from the freethrow line. But Shaq can't hit jack from the and all the other Lakers can't either. Now the Spurs are up 10.

The Spurs are up by 8 at the half. The Lakers are shooting 28% from the field and the Spurs are shooting 45%. The only thing keeping the Lakers in the game is free throw shooting. I believe they are 10-17 while the Spurs are 1-9.

Looking foward to a great second half.

28%, thank goodness the Spurs are only 11% from the line. Shaq freethrow misses is still horrible. Shaq needs to take Yoga or something to clear his mind so he can at least make half.

Man, the Lakers just disappeared in the fourth quarter. If they want to win this series they've got to step up. Gary, where are you?

10 frickin turnovers in the last quarter. Great D by San Antonio, and Shaq should be killin Nestrovic. But that wasn't the case, and Parker leadership just took over this last quarter.

    Key Match ups:

    Parker/Payton: Advantage Parker
    Malone/Duncan: Advantage Duncan

Shaq needed to have a huge game and he came up way short. His free throw shooting is really hurting the Lakers.

Popovich has won 11 straight playoff series when his team wins game 1.

Out of the Lakers/Spurs 11 playoff series, the winner of game 1 has won the series EVERY time.

I really think that was the worst team game the Lakers have played this season. They also couldn't play with any sort of consistency at all, and as we've all said from day 1 that if they wanted to win games they would have to be consistent. Kobe forced too many shots, and I do give much credit to the Spurs for that. Shaq shot decent but I really thought he did much more hurting today.. really didn't do anything. Gary couldn't defend anyone as well as hit any shots, and that really doesn't help. Karl also had a game like he had against Houston in game 1, I think he'll come out strong again. Disappointing performance by L.A. in the 4th quarter, you can't turn it over 10 times in 12 minutes and expect to win games.

I know, that's why I had so many fits watching this game while my moms is laughing at me. Hopefully the Lakers can change that.

    spurs win by 10....

the third quarter was amazing, Kobe bryant really took over....too bad he couldnt keep it up in the forth, they just stopped gelling as a team...

[IMG] what was up with Gary payton forcing up a wild fadeaway midway thru the forth when the lakers were down by 2????
that was eventually the turning point, the lakers sturggled the whole 4th quarter but it was a close game till then...Then TD and Parker just took over....

better get ready for game II...

The lakers played one great quarter, the Spurs played 3 great quarters...if this is how its gonna be, i wont be surprised with a sweep....

Gary looks lost out there, hes hurting more then helping and the lakers are back to looking unorganized....

p.s- bowen played nice defense but Kobe still got his share...thats how the great players are
