Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain was the Warrior's greatest franchise player. Man if only we could have a young and alive version of him now.

I think the most disappointing draft pick was for Todd Fuller. Look at the draft board that year 13. Charlotte Kobe Bryant Lower Merion HS 14. Sacramento Predrag Stojakovic PAOK (Greece) 15. Phoenix Steve Nash Santa Clara 16. Charlotte (from Miami) Tony Delk Kentucky 17. Portland Jermaine O'Neal Eau Claire HS 19. New York (from Atlanta) Walter McCarty Kentucky 20. Cleveland Zydrunas Ilgauskas Lithuania 24. LA Lakers Derek Fisher Arkansas-Little Rock Steve Nash would have been a safer pick than Fuller. But I guess they needed a big guy. At least if we got Fisher or Ice, I would have been happy.
what pick was Fuller? 12th or something? i still think Joe Smith is more disappointing just because you have different expectations when you're a number 1 pick....number one picks are considered sure things
Man talk about bringing back bad memories; Joe Barry Carroll (although great guy); Russell Cross (how about making a bucket?); Tellis Frank; Washburn; Rozier; Fuller. Then again, you look at them and there were some decent players too. Oh well. Mully will probably make a safe pick like the guy from Providence.

Other than Garnett, who no team would have taken #1, there wasn't a consistent allstar in the first round. Michael Finley (#21) is the only pick besides Garnett who exceeded expectations. If the Warriors would have picked McDyess they would have been better off, but he'd still be considered one of the weaker #1 picks. Wallace and Stackhouse would have been as disappointing as Smith, they're more talented, but their attitudes are horrible. With the exception of Stoudemire, Garnett, and Thomas, the rest of the lottery was a complete bust. Take a look at the draft and tell me who you would have rather the Warriors picked in '95 (other than Garnett) and why they wouldn't have been just as big of a let down as "Ordinary Joe" 1. Golden State Joe Smith 2. LA Clippers Antonio McDyess 3. Philadelphia Jerry Stackhouse 4. Washington Rasheed Wallace 5. Minnesota Kevin Garnett 6. Vancouver Bryant Reeves 7. San Antonio Cory Alexander Second Round #43 Philadelphia Eric Snow #52 Indiana Fred Hoiberg My non 20/20 hindsight pick: Smith My 20/20 hindsight, non-Garnett pick: Finley
Bryant "Big Country" Reeves. Now there's a number one draft pick we missed out on. Heck, if we were going for tweeners like Joe Smith anyway, I would have gone for Sheed. He's taller and a better perimeter threat. But I guess the warriors always fall in love with shotblockers.
I'd like to see how their 2nd round picks compared to their 1st round picks. I remember I was routing for the Warriors to land Dampier in the 1996 draft, but they got screwed by the Pacers taking him at #11, and then screwed themselves by taking Todd Fuller at #12. Considering all the talent they passed up on to get Fuller, I'd vote him as the most embarassing 1st round pick, but the WORST 1st round pick by GSW was Chris Washburn.
i still think at this point of their careers, Jerry Stackhouse (1), Rasheed Wallace (2), Kevin Garnett (7), Michael Finley (2), Antonio McDyess (2) have all had better careers then Joe Smith(0) (with the number of all star games they've played in brackets) also McDyess had 6 very decent seasons to start his career before he got injured which the warriors could've used: Reb Pts 7.5 13.4 7.3 18.3 7.5 15.1 10.8 21.2 8.5 19.1 12.0 20.8 as opposed to only 3 good seasons for Joe: 8.8 15.3 8.5 18.7 6.9 17.3
