on Sportstalk 980 last night, they had an interview with him. He said "He is down in Georgia right now visiting family and friends, and once he gets back to DC that he will start getting back in shape for basketball." He is playing for a contract and I think he will have a good year, but rumor has it he put on 10 pounds, and he doesnt plan on starting to work out until Early-Mid August. The weight thing concerns me, I dont know if it was 10 pounds of muscle( I doubt), or 10 piunsd of fat. He needs to get more serious and realize this is a contract year for him because I believe he can opt out after this year. How do you guys think he will comeback next year?
Next year the title"bust" wont be connected with his name no more. Kwame is a real hard worker from what i remember last summer the summer before this season he put on 15 pounds of muscle to get stronger and better. Kwame will be the player we all expected.
Kwame hard worker? AHHH I don't know about that, he's probably blessed that he has a high metabolism, but he's not much of a hard worker. I think he will bounce back next year and like you said the title bust will be removed from his name, he will start to approach the double double mark if he gets the minutes, and will put up the 15 points and 9-10 rebounds a game.
I'm not sold on Kwame at all....if Michael Jordan can't motivate him into wanting to become a better player, i don't know what will
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting _EcLiPsE_:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm not sold on Kwame at all....if Michael Jordan can't motivate him into wanting to become a better player, i don't know what will</div> the problem with Mike,he expects everyone to be like him. I think he pushed Kwame a little too hard and was disappointed. Everyone should give their all on the practice floor but not everyone is going to rise to Jordan's level day in and day out. Mike expects a little too much IMO and thats one reason why he would never be a successful coach.
you make some good points but i disagree about the coaching part...i think he's gonna make a great coach someday. Who knows more about the game of basketball - what it takes, the dedication, the work ethic etc. needed to make a champion more than Mike? like they say: you gotta learn from the best to BE the best
Jordan belonged solely on the court. I feel he truly is an awesome businessman, therefore baller transactions should've been his thing. But it wasn't, I don't think Kwame is going to go anywhere, he sounds like he's bluffing if you ask me. He is the worst pick, along with Olokowandi. They had so much potential, all wasted. If he even gets to at least 15 and 8 I'll be happy. He'll have proved me wrong, I just don't think it's gonna happen. He's lazy.

However I want him to breakout, I want the Wizards fans to be happy again. Have some decent people, apart from Arenas, Blake, etc. Possibly get rid of Stack.

He now knows what it takes to succeed in this league and will. He is going to be a Jermaine Oneal type of player. Trust me.

You have to look at the list, only 2 HS have made an impact right away...Bron and Amare. Kobe- 3 Years Tmac- 4 Years JO- 6 Years KG- 3 Years He has developed a 15 fter, he has a nice low post hook shot. He has speed. He started to develop a turn around J from the post. If he gets better like he did this year, he will be a star in this league. He dominated Webber, JO(3X), and had great games against other big PFs.

That right there proved something to me. People are so quick to label someone a bust.. People bashed Lebrons jump shot, and i think it was the 3rd or 4th game of the season the lakers were dareing Lebron to take a jump shot because he was already getting the label he can't hit a jumper... His jumper still needs improvement, but Did he ever prove people wrong. Kwame will be a solid player, he's full of so much energy, and that first step of his is deadly, probably one of the fasted first steps among the PF's in the league.
Yea I agree, he has one of the quicker first steps for a big man in the league now a days, if he can learn to use that to his advantage he will be great.
Kwame will be a star player. He just needs time. He came in with way too much pressure and expectations. I think he will exceed what JO is doing, which is pretty darn good. He should fit in very well next year with a young, up-and-down, energetic team. I like this year's team. We'll be young and naive, but they'll play hard and encourage each other. I think we'll be known for playing with wreckless abandon next year and that's not a bad way to start improving your play. Jordan and Collins hassled Kwame too much. He'll become more confident this year, and I think that's all he needs because he has the physical tools. The poster on this thread that said Kwame has a really quick step for PF is absolutely right. His jumpshot was improving last season so once he gets that shot down consistently and has that quick step, he'll be nearly unguardable!

I think he could become a player like JO someday as well. As you saw Jermaine struggles with all the high school expectations when he first came into the league. But he slowly improved and that what Kwame has been doing each season. Hopefully, we wont have to trade him to make him a star like Jermaine. I believe in a few years him along with Jamison Arenas and hayes will be a great group and if Kwame plays good enough this year we could be headed towards the playoffs.

If Arenas can stay healthy he is a great young floor general that knows how to run the point, and he can drop 30 on you any given night. The addition of Jamison is going to spread the floor out for kwame where he can just bang down low... i also expect the wizards to be a very good offensive rebounding team, by jamison being on the peremiter along with arenas that is going to force the defense to come out and guard those guys leaving less help to crash the boards
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kwame Brown: Wasn?t officially supposed to be here, but surprisingly decided to drive down from his home about three hours away for a private workout with the Wizards on Saturday. I got to watch most of it, and I think there is still a lot to be excited about this kid. He?s got a great body of course, it looks like he has put on some weight and he was really throwing it around during the workout. His outside shot is very nice for a big man, so is his handle and he looked pretty serious while working up quite a sweat. Needless to say he is still a freak athlete. </div> http://draftcity.com/articles/0058.htm That's good news, last year Kwame didn't even want to have anything to do with summer league ish, but him deciding to come and workout is good, our boy is still a freak athlete. Go Kwame and Arenas <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jarvis Hayes: The best player on the court in Orlando. What a shooter this kid is going to be, he?s got such a sweet stroke. Takes him about a quarter of a second to set his feet and get his shot off, can do it moving in all directions and especially while fading away. Very athletic too, he?ll take you right to the hoop and finish strong if you get too close. If the Wizards let him play his natural position at the two he should really start to come into his own his year. I?ve always been super high on this kid since his SEC days; he?s developing into a fine player now. </div> Anyone have a feeling Hayes could challenge Hughes for his starting spot this year? I sure do, Hayes is bigger, and would be a better defender, and the guy is raving about his stroke and his shot, this is real intersting.
Maybe all the Kwame haters will finally shut up this year...Great to see that he is working hard to get success in the NBA.. I have liked Hayes since we drafted him and I think he will be a really good assett to this team, I dont think he will challenge for the starting job right away, I think it will be like at the AS break where he does it...
