<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Laker fans are so fake," agrees "Malcolm in the Middle"'s Frankie Muniz, a Clippers season ticket holder for seven years. "They're like every other fair weather fan out there. Like Shaq, who's 7-foot-3, will be wide open and barely jump and dunk the ball, and everybody goes crazy as if he just did a 360 dunk through his legs. That annoys me."</div>

    This is so true.

Malcolm, or whatever his name is, is upset because he just realized how much the Clippers suck and that they'll never be a good team because their owner sucks. Thats no reason for him to take his anger out on us.

Although I agree with most of the article, people not from LA have to understand the reason behind these "bandwagon fans." Unlike most sport cities, Los Angeles has a lot more going than most cities when you are talking about entertainment value. The Lakers are just another trendy venue for people to attend when the Lakers are winning and there's meaningful games on the line. This is why there are so many casual Laker fans, and unfortunately the casual fans are the ones who get the attention. As far as fans outside of LA, you have to thank the Showtime Lakers for getting them interested in the Lakers. Most fans of the NBA around my age grew up during the Laker vs. Celtic rivalry, so you are likely to see a lot of Lakers and Celtic fans. Then you have the Jordan generation, which created a market for Bulls fans and now you have the Iverson, Vince, & T-Mac generation, and soon we will see the LeBron and Carmelo fans become Cav and Nugget followers.

[IMG] I can't stand him either. He just cheers for the Clippers to be "different."

I actually think its normal for celebs in hollywood to pretend to like the lakers, i mean if they support them, whats wrong with it? They live there, they work in la. They may not really like lal but its not that much of a problem is it? Even if theyd change their favourite team, we cant do anything about it and so , well as to bandwagoners, we shouldnt get too upset cause u cant really do much about it can u?

    Easily, watch me.

Edit: Who says that I am a "true" Laker fan? [IMG] I know that I haven't.
