<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post">I already mentioned Avery Johnson, we can get his as an assistant, the PG coach, teach Gordon or Harris or whoever we get.</div>
first, if he beomces an assistant i think he would be going to dallas to work with don nelson.....
second, what makes u assume we will draft a point guard for sure? i think there r a few alright big men i nthe draft too.

looks like scott is gonna go to new orleans

wack! because of the raptors taking their sweet goddamn time in signing a GM, we are going to miss out on another decent head coach.

Jack Macleod, an assistant coach in Denver, is apparently a candidate for the job all of a sudden.

Kinda of silly considering we haven't even got our GM yet. Maybe this is more of Peddie's meddling.

Damn, we gotta get a head, more desperately than a gm in a my opinion, and yeah that scott got kinda taken away is not very good for the raps ...

The p[roblem with getting a head first is the Raptors want to get a GM so he can pick the coach, so they are on the same level.

But eGinobili, I am with you, just get a coach now. It won't make a big difference with a GM, especially with Peddie. I was reading the Star's headlines this morning, and one of the columnists said it right. Peddie doesn't want the right man, he wants the man who will say yes to all of his suggestions.

I'm intrigued with the John Thompson post. Could be a good fit.

top assistant to jerry sloan, johnson, is looking for the raps job as head coach. however, he refuses to interview until the raps get a GM. this guy sounds intriguing.

first, it shows he cares when he wants a GM first. he wants to get a guy that he can work with well so he can help the organization.

furthermore, he is JERRY SLOAN's top assistant. sloan is one of the most underrated coaches ever and certainly he trasformed the jazz into a winning team.

moreover, johnson has coaching experience. he was the head coach for a team back in the 60s i believe.

this guy seems good to me. what do u guys think?

I would like Phil Johnson. I mean, he's showing he's smart already knowing the we need a gm. Second, he's Jerry Sloans assistant. Any assistant to Sloan has got to be a great coach (I personally think he got robbed). However, I think a GM is what we need more right now than a coach.

George Karl. I don't know why many people think he sucks. This guy is Butch Carter (motivator) and Larry Brown (Strategies) combined.

george can be either good or bad. when things r going badly he often does things that would get himself to lose respect from players. but when things r going well, i think he is good.

Im sure George Karl always bring a pretty big price tag. I think the Raptors need to stop looking at assistant coaches and bring in a proven coach. Its not everyday someone comes across a Stan Van Gundy like coach, and I doubt anyone on the market rite now has that kind of potential. Avery Johnson said he'd only stop playing to coach Dallas, San Antonio, or New Orleans, so we can count him out, although id like to have him as coach. Mike Fratello is intruiging, but again, its a big paycheque. I think getting a good and risk taking GM is more important than the coach at this point in time anyways.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Golden State Warriors fired head coach Eric Musselman on Wednesday night and have an agreement in place for Stanford coach Mike Montgomery to be his replacement, league sources told ESPN.com.

    ---------------------

The Warriors announced Musselman's dismissal Thursday.

    --------------------

Musselman, 39, told the AP that he learned his fate at 7:15 p.m. PT Mullin.

"This was a difficult decision," Mullin said in a statement Thursday. "This team certainly showed some progress the last couple of years and Eric should be given some of the credit."

Reached earlier in the evening in Florida by ESPN.com, Musselman said that he hadn't talked to Mullin in two weeks and that Mullin had been noncommittal on his and his staff's status.

Musselman, who had one year remaining on his contract, went 75-89 in two seasons with the Warriors, his first NBA head coaching job. He finished second in the league's Coach of the Year voting in 2002-03 after guiding Golden State to a 38-44 record.

The Raptors may have a chance at Musselman, what does everyone think?

I think Mussleman woudn't be bad, he had some conflicts with management and with Dunleavy in GS but he would be good for us if we could get him.

    Injuries happened this year

    C - Dampier
    PF - Uncle Cliff
    SF - Dunleavy
    SG - J-Rich
    PG - Nick Van Exel

    Bench:
    Speedy Claxton
    Brian Cardinal
    Troy Murphy
    Mickael Pietrus
    Adonal Foyle

They're one deep with a good player at every single position. That's some good stuff right there, then they also had Clabert Cheaney and Avery Johnson.

The problem was Adonal Foyle (44 games), Mickael Pietrus (53 games), Speedy Claxton (60 games), Troy Murphy (28 games), Nick Van Exel (39 games), an average of 37 games missed by those 5 guys who were all pretty key componenets to the team.
Dampier is leaving now though, and Foyle is likely leaving too, if healthy this year they could have actually made the playoffs, but now their froncourt will be weak, only Murphy. Cliff will likely start at center, which means more rebounds for Troy.
