it was on the score at 2pm eastern and replayed on midnight, i missed the one on 2pm and fell asleep to watch the midnight one.....did anybody watch it? if they did...was anybody that was outstanding....and how'd ivan ...charieve do? btw idk how to spell his lastname
I watched it. Ivan Chiriav (sp?) was the MVP, there were a few dunks and a few nice passes, but overall It wasn't very special. Nobody really dominated but a few players like Ivan played terribly compared to their hype. --------EDIT Sorry my little brother typed this post, he didn't even watch the game, but I did and I saw the Ivan is just flat out terrible, a mediocre American highschool player would take him to school.
I just had to move this from the Ivan Chiarev thread, here are my thoughts: This guy<font size="1"> (Chiarev)</font> sucked.....big time. I can't see him playing in the NBA much less the NBDL. He can't play point, he can't play shooting guard, small foward, power forward or centre. What is his position on the court then? He should be in the stands. The only thing I like about this guy is his height. Too bad he doesn't know how to use it. My thoughts when watching this debacle of a game: <ul> [*]Canadians tried to dunk the ball waaaaay too much. "Tried" is the main word there. It takes 3 tries to finish a clean dunk. Horrible. [*]Chiarev was awful on the floor. Shooting poor shots, getting outmuscled on a regular basis, being bothered by players who are literally 6 inches shorter than him. He can't run, he's lazy on D and all he does is hack at the ball. No agility whatsoever to be considered to be playing the point much less small foward. Can this guy even attempt to jump? Or can he just not get his feet off the ground? Oh yeah, great point guard skills. It takes skill to bring the ball up the court, pick up your dribble prematurely and pass it off. If you need that on your team than Ivan is your man. [*]Oliver Prince looks strong. Saw him play at Seneca and he's a beast (an undersized one at that). This game just shows that he came to play, which is something I can't say for 2/3 of the players here. [*]Can Ivan Chiarev look any worse than he does now? I wonder what the hell scouts are observing. Maybe they just needed a vacation to Canada. [*]Is it me or is the level of play in Canada not even half of what it is in the States? It really seems that way to me by watching this game. [/list]And then I stopped watching because I was getting really irritated at the level of play. I'm sorry to say but most Canadians can't hold a candle to American Highschool players. Bottomline is Ivan Chiarev has shown me nothing that even resembles a college basketball player right now. NBA? Puh-lease. I don't think this kid can play in the WNBA <font size="1">(no offense ladies)</font>
I'll move my thoughts about Chiriaev too: I wasn't impressed, this guy better not go first round. He's not quick enough to even play the 3 from what I saw, and this guy wanting to play the point just seems like a joke to me after that. He can't play the 2 either, he's not as quick as Dirk, not to talk of being as quick as someone like Bender. His handles I can't talk about since he hardly ever put the ball on the floor, but the few times he did, it was nothing impressive, didn't look as good as Nene's even. Took wayyyy too many three's, and he better be going second round or someone is screwing up. His defense shouldn't even be talked about since all he did was hack and hardly move, he can't run the floor, and he could hardly even jump off the ground. No atheleticism on this guy, no quickness, speed, or jumping ability that is above any other player there, it wasn't above average at all. He wasn't the best man on the floor for sure, and these guys are no super players, and he was always the last man to make it down the court. Chiriaev also could not seem to ever shake his man, this guy is supposed to be a scorer and can't get space from his defender, it was just bad. He also seemed very lazy, and this guy just spells bust, doesn't even seem to have as much hope as Skeeta. also........ Unless this guy puts in some crazy work and becomes quicker or stronger, he has no position on the court, literraly. Not quick enough to play the 1,2 or 3, has hardly an agility and he doesn't look like he can jump off the ground, and not strong, skilled inside, or tough enough to play the 4 and 5, and doesn't even look like he could keep up with the quickers 4's in the league (Nene, Amare, Bosh, Odom etc). Imagine him playing at the 4 against Amare or Boozer, or even Bosh man it'll be a sight to see.
ok it seems like we can all come to agre now that the Ivan guy sucks. but who did u guys like the in game? i thoguht Ovlier Prince and Tristian Blackwood were sensational. ive seen Blackwood play before live. he plays for eastern and hes really damn quick. he shoots really well but he likes to set up teammates a lot more. his defense is INSANE as he presses a lot! o and did u guys c his block?? he stuffed that big guy with his 5'11 body! tha guy from forest hill was good too. ive seen him play b4 but he never really did much that was special until i saw him play today. maybe it is becausei saw him play eastern and eastern pressed the guards so well he rarely touchd the ball lol.
Greg Surmacz the 6'8 guy on the black team lives 5 minutes from me. I have played B-Ball with him one time. He had 7 points and didn't get the ball alot. He is going to Eastern Tennesee State. Ryan Wright had a nice dunk but he missed 3 dunks. I liked the battle of Santana vs Blackwood they were very quick and coudl drive but they didn't have good outside shots.

Re: In my opinion it was like anyother hschool bball game that i've been to! and i;ve seen some crazy things go down in those games. In my opinion the person who really deserved it was dunkley! wjat is he like 6,3! I.C wasn't that good at all! i know some big dudes out west who could destroy him. The only reason he is getting recognition is cuz he is from russia and has an agent! (wooho!) in my opinion it was special but nothing special really happened! U can doubt and question if u like but i was not impressed
i played against Ivan Chiraiev in a basketball tournament this past winter and from what i saw from actually being on the court with him is that hes nothing but an average basketball player with decent range who happens to be 7'1". He doesnt use his size to his advantage and all he did was jack up threes and argue with refs. Put him in with the american highschool players and he would look like a joke. He has a very long way to go in my opinion. And after talking to him personally, he really is as cocky as people think.

its a shame that agents have to pollute the minds of these kids. chiraiev definetly has potential, and COULD develop into a decent player...but the best way for him to do this is to head to a college in the states with a decent program and have real professionals help him. lets face it, a 7 footer who can shoot the 3 has a very nowitzki feel to him, since at one time thats all dirk was...a 7 footer who could shoot. if chiraiev was taught the fundamentals of the game, and learned to use his body as well as shoot, he could become a force. he'll prolly get drafted, and fade into obscurity
Yea true, except Dirk was much quicker and faster, and his handles, ability and game were much more advanced the Ivan's right now.

You didn't watch the game did you
i never saw the game so did anyone see if a guy named ryan wright played in it? and if so, was he any good?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mr.Fundamentals:</div><div class="quote_post">i never saw the game so did anyone see if a guy named ryan wright played in it? and if so, was he any good?</div> Yes Ryan Wright played in it, #11 on the white team, he didn't get the ball too much but he threw down a nice dunk on a fast break and missed a couple others in traffic, he'll be back next year though because hes an underclassman, I'm already calling him to be the MVP of next year's game. Hes a great dunker with decent range (let's just say I've seen him play many times .
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mr.Fundamentals:</div><div class="quote_post">i never saw the game so did anyone see if a guy named ryan wright played in it? and if so, was he any good?</div> yeah he was in it. he made one monster dunk and also missed a couple. i didnt c anything special from him other than the fact that he took the ball strong to the hoop. hes a decent player but i dont think i got a good look at his shot or anything else other than dunks. he also tried to dunk too much...as a result, missed a few.
ya pooty....what did u talk to him about? jw what other things he can say that can make him look more stupid
The game wasnt all that great, but at least Canada has started up its on "All-Canadian" game, to show what the future holds for Canadian basketball.
Ryan Wright got game, he's got some serious hops! ... As fo Ivan Chiriave, I don't know how can he imagine himself as a top 5 pick? .. He'll follow Carl English's path.
